Just Fish Bar & Grill

My mom loves catfish, so for her last night visiting Newark, we decided to try Just Fish since it's close by. Even though they had 2 parties going on, Gary made sure we were taken care of. Everything was delicious, and everyone was helpful and pleasant.

We met the owner and he was very nice and made sure we were taking care of. All the staff we met that night made sure to ask me and my family if everything was to our liking. I got the Bake Salmon with the Candied yams & Mac. It was very good and tasty. I wish I got the Catfish that my aunt and daughter was eating. Wow! It was so soft and delicious...taste was there and not salty, which was a great thing. I have to come back!!!

For excellent soul food, try Just Fish. The catfish was wonderful, as was the Mac and cheese and cabbage. The cabbage is mixed with carrots but it's good. I ordered a fried turkey dinner and that was good also.
The prices are reasonable. The inside seating is small. There's a beautiful patio for outside seating. Gary and staff work hard to please.
Parking is limited to street parking, but it's worth searching for a space.

They recently moved to the Halsey location, and the food is even BETTER. Service is stupendous, and the prices are RIGHT. THEY have a beautiful backyard as well

The food is delicious. I eat here all the time. The place is nice and clean. The atmosphere is beautiful the owner always greets everyone. Love it.

Southern Style in the North . This restaurant is just what you need if you desire a home cooked style meal. I told the owner I wanted dressing/stuffing and he accommodated me. I think every thing is in the menu here even if you Dont see it on the menu.. So Dont be afraid to ask. The owner is usually there and speaks to every one with kindness and when he isn't the others at his establishment keep up this kindness. I'm not having thanx giving with family this year so I have been ordering this fried turkey every day this week. The Fried Turkey is amazing. Obviously, this place is not just fish but every thing you want.

Great food selection and food is very delicious! Nice and cozy atmosphere. Service was excellent. Looking forward to dining here again!

Great, intimate establishment with friendly kitchen and waitstaff. I had the seafood combo platter..couldn't eat it all. Lunch for today

Nice vibe, one of the few outdoor spots to have a drink outside in the evening; you will see me here in the future for sure. Met some awesome people here too. Will be back!

Love the new location! Very warm and cozy. Everyone was friendly from the moment we step foot inside. We came in for an early Sunday dinner (5pm) We ordered the “Dinner” red snapper, red beans and rice, potatoes salad with add on of cabbage & the fish, chicken& shrimp with Mac & yams with an add on of collard greens & bbq chicken with fries &mac. Food was delicious and well seasoned. I’m very picky when it come to potato salad & I was sold on theirs! All the food hit the spot!!!!. We might just make this our Sunday Dinner spot and trying other things on the menu.

We love circulating our money within the community and if you do too give them a try. If your looking for good southern style soul food give them a try.

After church service my family and I went to just fish bar and grill. This place was very inviting the staff was kind, polite and helpful. We met the owner Gray he was a delight to meet very cool down to earth kind of fella. They had lots to choose from on the menu but I went with the fish and chicken let me tell you it was very good. If I can give more stars I would. We have find our new place. Don’t let me just talk about it you have to visit for yourself you won’t be disappointed JUST FISH BAR AND GRILL a must try.

Two of us went here last night at around 5:30pm. We were greeted warmly when we walked in. I had the flounder platter with mac & cheese and potato salad. My friend had fish and chips. Our food was served promptly and was delicious. Fresh, piping hot, beautifully seasoned. I could eat a ton of that potato salad!! The corn bread we were given when we sat down was a little sweet so I just saved it to eat like dessert after my meal.
Will def return.

Just discovered this place on Halsey Street close to where I live downtown. OMG… SOOOOOO GOOD!!! I got the Super Seafood Platter with potato salad plus Mac and cheese and cole slaw. ALL just like I like it. And for dessert… coconut cake. A lot of food and I have leftovers. I’ll be back!

It was a little pricey but the food tastes awesome and the amount of food you get for the price is well worth it.. the food was absolutely delicious.

Fried fish like the old school barbecues you used to go to as a kid. This place cooks their fish to perfection with the right amount of flavor and crispness to leave you fully satisfied.

This is my favorite fish place. I like the fried flounder sandwich. It's a bit pricey but Flounder is pricey. I tend to like to splurge on myself. In my opinion it's worth it. The fish is meaty and seasoned very well. You get nice big pieces. It's hot fresh and tasty.
