Jefferson's Cafe

This was my second time here. The first time was for breakfast , and I literally sat there writing a bad review due to the time it took for my food to come. As I was writing my food came, I deleted my review, cause my breakfast was delicious yall 😂 fast forward, I went for dinner yesterday since I had a taste for soul food. I was not disappointed. The service alone ! The owner, the cook. I felt like I was at my great auntie house. Gonna make this a least once a month staple . Pouring blessings and success over this business for many years to come.

I found this place searching for breakfast on google maps and i didnt regret it. Everyone was very pleasant the owner took my order she was a very lovely women seems like most of the customers knew her and had history there. I ordered cat fish, grits with cheese and biscuits. Everything was perfect for me the fish wasnt salt and was light and fluffy, the grits was nice and thick they werent watery like some places and i feel i love with the taste of the biscuits. You get more than enough food i tried to eat everything on my plate but i was full so the little corner of food i had left i defiantly took it with me i wasnt gonna throw it away lol.. I ate at the counter which was fine with me. I only had one issue and that was they charge an extra $2 for cheese i expect to pay for cheese as an extra but not $2 but it is what it is everything done went up.... But i have found out that they have another location very close to me so i will try that location out next.

I love this restaurant. The service is hit or miss but the food always tastes great. The grits, potatoes salad the Mac and cheese. The smootheredpork chops are out of this world. My favorite is the chicken and waffles. I have had the chicken and waffles all over NYC, Georgia, South Carolina and nothing compares to theirs. I see the other reviews I understand some of their frustration but the food seasoning and presentation can’t be denied.

So many good things to say. The food is just the best. It's the best part of my week to eat at this place.

I came for the homemade biscuits and they did not dissapoint. Everything was flavorful and well cooked . We were there at 830 AM on a Friday.

Will come back with family and friends!

Have you ever had a bad rainy day? Then a bite of food just gave you the comfort and boost of happiness? Well, welcome to Jefferson's! It's a quaint spot tucked away from the main streets. You definitely get the lowkey local casual vibe. The decor is more homey/organized than upscale city-like, so if you care about the decor over solid food, then this is not where you go. The lady that served us was very welcoming and hilarious too. I would say, the meal took a bit longer that expected, so make sure to factor extra time. I got their special battered fries catfish meal, and it was well worth the hike over.

You have to be patient when it’s busy or call in your order food is great they are not known for there burgers but they are Good

The food was excellent. I had the fish and grits with scramble eggs.
The place is small; 8 tables. The service is slow...but again the food was excellent which makes the wait ok

Fast food not good & good food not fast! 😋

Decadent comfort food that I always save for special Sunday brunches. I usually order chicken & waffles (white meat), and [copious amounts of] biscuits. This most recent visit I tried the fried catfish; this was a good decision. As with everything else they serve, it was simple fare executed flawlessly. I cannot recommend Jefferson's enough; five stars is an insufficient rating. Only cons: Parking is not great (park across the street, at Glenfield Park), the prices are a bit high (but you're paying for quality), and they're not fast (but it's so very worth the wait). The moral of the story is: go to Jefferson's, soon.

Great food! Loved everything ...pancakes, turkey sausage, and home fries Only draw was time, only 2 servers ...extremely polite and attentive.

Food was made to order hot and fresh. Reasonable pricing for a good home cooked meal. Attentive service and warm atmosphere!

this place is always a great spot to get lunch or brunch. Classic soul food and Southern type recipes and cooking. Waffles and chicken, grits, catfish nuggets or salmon cakes are just a few of the amazing dishes. Very 'laxed and casual place. Great food. Great prices also. Nothing fancy about the spot except the food and the taste. Yum yum. Highly recommend

Jefferson's restaurant in Montclair,NJ is a nice and cozy little restaurant. The food is delicious,nice amount of food for your buck,and the service is great.

This is definitely a hidden gem! Nice, quaint, awesome food and perfect service!
