When I finally decided to file chapter 7 I researched bankruptcy attorneys and narrowed my list down to five. Prior to meeting with Karl, I met with the first attorney who told me a chapter 7 was not possible in my situation and the only solution was a chapter 13. I probed him with questions from reputable articles I had read and inquired about alternative possibilities, but he insisted that the 13 was the only possibility for me. I knew this equated to more money, no immediate relief, and no realistic clear ending. When I left his office, I felt hopeless and defeated.

Next, I met with Karl and immediately told him of my encounter with the other attorney and the “why's” I would not qualify for a chapter 7, assuming Karl would echo his sentiments. Instead, he asked me a series of questions, took some notes and to my surprise said…we’re going for the 7 and here’s how and why. I can’t tell you how excited I was to hear these words! I canceled my other appointments because I knew he was the one.

Karl is respectful and caring; he guided me through every step of the process with a calm demeanor, which made me more relaxed. Everything went as he said it would…now I’m just waiting for my discharge papers😊

Fresh Start has truly given me a Fresh Start! With my financial situation being manageable, I can now set attainable goals, like going back to school!

Karl is an excellent attorney. He has had to work hard himself so he understands the challenges that clients often face and why the help of the debtors' rights laws and the bankruptcy court are sometimes needed. Also, Karl is one sharp lawyer. He is especially good at negotiating very favorable outcomes for clients who have especially problematic debts for which bankruptcy court is sometimes not the answer. How about settling an old debt of about $200,000 that cannot be forgiven by the bankruptcy court for $10,000? That was well done! That took some very skilled lawyering and one very good lawyer.

I've been working with Mr. Oliver for over 3 years now. When I first met him I was in a terrible situation. He took the time to meet with me in person, despite already knowing all the details and that he would be suggesting I not hire him at that time. Essentially, he treated me as if he was going to get paid, but knowing he was going to turn me away in order to save me money and resources he knew I didn't have at the time due to a nasty custody case.

He took the time to meet with me and comfort all my concerns and the misinformation I'd received with legal facts. He was patient, kind, considerate, professional, well -informed, extremely understanding and non-judgemental. 3 years later and after having actually hiring him last May, I would not only say that every single one of these qualities is true, but I stand by them even more!!

This is my second go -round here with this chapter 13 and I've interviewed several attorneys in this feild over the years. Through family Court and other areas of law I've never come across an attorney remotely similar to Mr. Oliver. He's a RARE FIND. He's almost always reachable by phone and returns calls quickly. He's responsive and responsible. He CARES and he will put your needs and that of your families over his own....even above politics.

I spoke with Karl Oliver a few months ago, about an urgent legal issue I was having. He said he would take my case and he asked me to gather some information for him. I attempted to contact him by phone, texts and emails, leaving messages off and on for three weeks. He never responded. Not even a message to say he decided not to take my case. From other reviews, sounds like a pattern. Would never recommend.

I set up a phone consultation. The lawyer did not call me at the agreed upon time. I spoke with the guy the next day and set up a time for that evening. Consultation time came again and nothing...no call. 45 minutes past the time we were to speak I get a call and text asking if I was available. Horrible first impression. I will be bringing my business elsewhere.
