Seriously tasty. Cool atmosphere. Great server. Was in direct communication with owner (did not realize until later) about my reservation via email and adding my kids to it. My 1 and 7 year old helped make sure there were no leftovers from the pasta and pork belly we ordered. This is a place to go back to.

Stepchld in Minneapolis has a great romantic atmosphere and a nice bar area. We tried the sweet potato fritters and two non-alcoholic drinks to start. The fritters were excellent. For dinner we had the crispy cod tacos and the Cooper burger with fries. The burger was amazing, one of the best in the city for sure! Service was excellent, but note they do add on a 10% service fee, we still tipped 20% on top of that. The bill before the tip was $72.00. I'll definitely be returning, reservations highly recommended because the restaurant is small.

The mussels and lavendar nori Shrimp were very good. I also appreciated the excellent service and artistic decorations. This is a great place for an after work dinner with coworkers or friends, or a nice weekday date night.

First time visiting STEPCHLD and I am a big fan of this place. Very friendly and hospitable staff and the food is a slam dunk. The Cod tacos had a big piece of cod that was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. So much flavor added with the guacamole, slaw, and jalapeño sauce. The main course I had was the Wagyu short rib pasta and it was fantastic! Plenty of pasta with great flavor from the short rib. I need to stop in here again so I can try other items on the menu. Great food and vibes at STEPCHLD!

This spot is top notch. Fantastic food with a really chill vibe. Loved dinner in the past, so checked out brunch and it does not disappoint. Chilaquiles were flavorful with great texture, pork belly and coconut rice was perfectly balanced with a ton of flavor. Bottle of mimosas is a perfect idea so you can juice your bubbly as much (or little) as you prefer.

Cute little spot with friendly service. Ate at the bar and was amazed how the two chefs were able to whip up everything so fresh and fast right before your eyes. The chicken wings were so flavorful, and the sweet potato fritters were amazingggg. Drinks were great as well. My burger subbed with an impossible patty had a great texture. A little salty, but that gooey cheese was worth it.

The burger was wonderful. Our server was very friendly. Love the plant forward decor, it was really pretty! My fiancé got the tacos and loved them!

My god was this food good! The marrow on sourdough melted in my mouth and the pork belly with coconut rice was amazing! I also got to try some of the short rib sugo pasta and loved it!

Wonderful find! We found parking easily! The space was inviting, small but very comfortable. The food was outstanding. There was so much we wanted to try so we ordered the brussel sprouts for a starter - delicious!!!, we had the Tiger salad and the blueberry salad, both outstanding, then I tried the waygu short rib sugo pasta. I was so full I could barely take a few bites. Brought the leftovers home and my son devoured them. Ringing praise indeed. The service was attentive and helpful. I would definitely recommend this independent gem.

Ok secretly this be the best burger in the city. Perfect greasy, too cheesy ratio. They do the “smash” burger as good as anyone. Also amazing staff, had great service.

I’ll start with this.. we went here after the Surdyks yelp trick or treat event just to grab a nightcap beverage, everything looked so good we had to get food too! This intimate space was comfortable, staff greeted us promptly, made sure we had a preferred spot to enjoy our visit. Every dish that was delivered to the people around us looked mouth watering amazing!!!! The Low ABV drinks not only looked fun but were delicious and to my surprise they had a sparking Sauvignon blanc which I had to try! We ordered wings for our appetizer and again to my surprise they were decent in size and BREADED! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to find fresh battered wings! I can’t wait to go back and try everything but the word on the street is are the tacos are a must try!

Can't say enough good. Ambience is intimate and welcoming. Limited seating but inclusionary with their adorable waiting spot and the hostess was quick to tell us it was okay that we didn't have a reservation and went to work right away finding out a realistic wait time which was like 5 minutes maybe less. Just enough time to take some pictures. Waitress was understandably enthusiastic about their offerings and after the brie cheese appetizer covered in pear jam served on a hot skillet (pictured) I'll never be the same. House made Dill Pickles on the burger was a perfect highlight to an otherwise traditionally made and perfectly executed burger. I don't remember the name of the pasta but the one with shallots in the description was also simple and luxurious. Our hotel had no microwave which is why I can vouch that it was even better cold. ☺

Absolutely loved our experience here. Great food, Great vibes! Every detail from the feel of the silverware to the music and artwork. We enjoyed the Brussel Sprouts(large portion!), Sweet Potato Fritters, Pork Belly Coconut Rice Kimchi, and Brooklyn Nights. It’s a smaller place so not recommended for Large Large parties but a smaller group of people or date night works perfect. I recommend making reservations in order to make sure you get a good table on time. Definitely worth checking out! Just wish I had a bigger stomach to enjoy more entrees.

We decided to try this place out. But wanted to beat the crowd so we came at exactly 5pm. I am thankful that we did, because we were the last group that they accepted without a reservation, lesson learned.. but the favor Lord!

This place was simply amazing. From the authentic decor, deem lighting and great music set our date night out!

We started the night with a bottle of their Sparkling Domaine Rondeau Cerdon Rose. Light and Crispy, not to sweet... Perfectly paired with our App, the Brie and Pear with grilled bear.. (MuSourdoughst Try)..

Salad, we shared the Brussel Sprouts. Again, we order Brussel sprouts whenever we dine out. This was one of my favorites! Sauted to perfection, the sliced almonds gives this dish the perfect crunch after every bite. The bitter apricot paired perfectly with sweetness of honey.. ! Will be back for this one.

Main course.. we ordered the Cooper Burger w/ a side Arugula salad and the Ethiopian Birria Taccos.. Great choices for our first impressions of this place. The Cooper was so flavorful and juicy. The tacos left me so satisfied with bursts of authentic Ethiopian flair.

I'm always a fan of a place with a small menu, it means they have perfected the dishes and have no need to have a million ingredients laying around or food being frozen.
My partner and I went here specifically for the burger as I had seen it all over social media (after only a month of them being open). We are always looking for the next best burger in the twin cities area.
This burger did not disappoint. The toppings were a perfect compliment to the perfectly smashed patties, plenty of crispy edges along with plenty of nicely cooked beef.
We also ordered the sweet potato fritters and those were little balls of heaven! The goat cheese sauce they are served with is the perfect tangy bite to bring it all together.
We will be back!

The whole place was an ABSOLUTE VIBE!! the music, dim lighting, the plants decorating the walls and ceiling. Just made for a nice relaxed ambiance. All the staff I encountered were extra friendly and very helpful with the menu. The food I tried was good, the burger and the sweet potato balls. My friend had a kale/ orange salad and it was ok, nothing special in my opinion it needed some of green leaf veggies in there to break up the hard kale texture. My French fries would of been better if they weren’t shoestring fries. But overall very satisfied with this place. Perfect for a nice date night or a chill night out.

I went in knowing the food would be great (through word-of-mouth from friends), but it absolutely exceeded my expectations. The dishes looked somewhat simple at first but the flavors and textures work together in delightfully complex ways. We split the Brussels sprouts to start, and had the lavender nori shrimp and Ethiopian birria tacos for mains. The serving sizes were good, but the quality made me wish I had more as soon as we were finished. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was intimate without feeling crowded or too loud at all.

All I can say is, "Can I have sweet potato fritters for breakfast?!" Those bites were alternately like a ball of sweet potato pie or a decadent french toast or the best sweet potato fries ever. Don't miss out! Paired with an orange wine was a perfect combination.

Cooper burger has two smokey, smashed patties. It’s gooey with the cheese and the extra thin pickle slices go crunch. Fries are thin and crispy. The menu is focused but eclectic and even though my order was basic, everyone found something they loved that tasted like it could be a staple at other types of restaurants (Korean, tacos, pasta).

Our server was awesome, the plants are nice, there are thc seltzers, and they have QR codes on the bill so you don’t have to wait to pay and go. Great experience all around. Don’t walk far like I did, parking is available around back 👍

A gem in NE Minneapolis. Super friendly staff and our server, Cliff R, was top notch. The Sweet Potato Fritter was a pleasant surprise! It tasted so good. Then the Roasted Cauliflower and Roasted Maitake Mushroom Taco each held their own lip smacking taste- very flavorful. My Pork Belly & Ginger Coconut Rice is my new fav dish in this area. The Rosemary-Brined Fried Chicken looks divine and tastes crispy. My friend really enjoyed her Lavender Nori Shrimp and the Cooper Burger was good. We definitely will be back.
