South Barbeque Restaurant

Nice quiet place to grab a bite to go or to dine in. I got my food to go as I was looking for something filling fast. I ordered the grilled chicken Ceasar salad. Employees appear nice and only a few at the register speak English. The rest appear to speak Spanish only. I when in the afternoon (1226p) and there's plenty of seating. Both at the bar/counter or in the seating area.they also do catering. They do not appear to sell alcohol though there is a fridge that has a variety of canned and bottled beverages like sodas and juices.

This is a great place for lunch at least that's when I eat here whether for a steak, beef ribs, grilled chicken or shrimp in garlic sauce all good and prices are reasonable

Walked in greeted pleasantly, the food is amazing and the portions definitely match the price. The place is kept clean very nice establishment. I will recommend this place all the time.

I went here for the 1st time and loved the food. I ordered the simple 1/2 chicken and ribs combo with rice and beans. The beans were exceptionally tasty. The rice was perfect, it was not sticky nor clumpy. The chicken. And ribs were seasoned to perfection. The meal was delicious!

I will return.

I order from here and go here in person all the time. The food is great. Some of the reviews are complaining about the service, I've never had that experience at all. I've always had very good service. I don't speak Spanish or Portuguese and they've always been able to accommodate me, both ordering over then phone and eating at the resteraunt. English isn't the majority language in the Ironbound, if you can't deal with that you shouldn't come here. The staff at South st. Bbq have always been friendly and helpful to me.

Stopped here about 7 days ago. We were in the area for an airport pick up. The food was delicious!! Prices were reasonable. Really loved the fried plantains!! Definitely will come back one day.

Good service and decent prices. Nice spot to drop in and eat or take it to go. Sometimes I call ahead and pick it up to go. The half chicken meal us good, so is the sausage meal. Next time I'll get the pork and clams.

Love this spot been coming here for years always on point and the owner is such a great guy.

I found this place about a year ago just driving around looking for somewhere to eat and was very happy to be there. Now I've been going there to eat whenever I am in Jersey. The food is always well seasoned and served in large portions at a decent price. Some days I'll go for both breakfast and lunch because I always know the food will be good.

This joint is one of my best places to eat. The service is allsome with pretty girls from beginning to finish. The food is amazing and they prices aren't too bad. I totally recommend.

My kids and I really love this place. The rib & chicken BBQ combo is so delicious. The workers are super friendly and helpful.

Omg, these eats gave me eating at your family table and your family can throwdown. We got sausage, chicken, and beef ribs. All of it was delicious but I'll be dreaming of those ribs tonight.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. We were driving around looking for a restaurant with parking and saw this place. We were skeptical based on the pictures and descriptions in the window but decided to give it a shot. I'm glad we did. The BBQ chicken and spare ribs were absolutely delicious. I've eaten a lot of bbq across the country, and it is nothing like I've ever had. It's bbq with a Mexican/South American twist. Whatever you want to call it, it's delicious.

This place. Literally. My boyfriend and I work a lot and sometimes, at the end of the day cooking a meal is out the window. But we are also very practical with money yet still want delicious food. South bbq baby. Constantly on point. They deliver until about 9pm and its always fresh, juicy and delicious for a low price. Idk how you guys do it but please keep it up!!

Very good chicken, pork chops and everything else I’ve had in here!! Staff is very friendly and polite also!! Very good service in general!! :-)
