Ursino Steakhouse and Tavern

Went there for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by everything. The interior decor was modern with a touch of warmth. The service was prompt and pleasant. The oyster was fresh & succulent, the tuna tartar was balanced with the right amount of acidity. I had the steak sandwich and it was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Overall it was a great dinning experience for a Saturday morning. I will definitely be back to try the steakhouse portion of Ursino.

This place is nothing short of awesome & fancy. Note that, as many other reviews state, this place is located on the Kean University campus. As such, using GPS directions may not take you the right way. However, with Google Maps, you can zoom in far enough to see where it is. it is located near the STEM building.

When parking, there is a valet that you give you a ticket

I think my photos speak for themselves. If you've been to Char, or any other upscale steakhouse, you'll feel right at home here. The crust on this steak was wonderful, as were the sides (albeit expensive)

As an appetizer, we got the bourbon bacon. I've never had something so flavorful. My friend & I both ordered the same thing: bone in dry aged ribeye. See photos. For a side, the mac & cheese (with lobster, or maple bacon) is amazing. It is a *little* bit on the pricey side, but lobster, nuff said.

The flavor of all of these things will make you not want to leave - you'll be content with having a heart attack at the dinner table & not having anyone revive you.

Came here for my Wife's birthday dinner. The food was fantastic. See pictures for reference. I would definitely come back.

I came here for dinner recently and I must say the experience was fantastic. The restaurant has decor is very warming, seating gives a great view, the bar is huge and certainly perfect for a first date. My food was delicious, a great steak sandwich that was cooked exactly to my liking. I ordered a margarita pizza that took some time to make but that's because the dough is made fresh so it was well worth the wait. I will certainly return for another dinner and now I know exactly where it is as the first time it was a bit confusing.

Fresh food, great drinks, beautiful view, and wonderful service! This is a great choice for fine dining or a really nice spot for a night out. I reserved a table of 8 for my father’s 70th birthday and the employees and servers were super friendly and accommodating! They allowed us to decorate the table and even bring in a cake! They always checked in, asking if we needed anything throughout our meals. I was in love with the braised octopus! Never had it so well cooked and delicious! Everyone loved their meals and my brother couldn’t rave more about the fresh raw oysters! You won’t be disappointed!

The food was delicious. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the rack of lamb was amazing!
The staff was super friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was really nice.
This is a great place and we look forward to going back soon.

Beautiful location behind STEM Building on Kean University. Interior has hand painted mural of historic people related to Kean University.

The service was excellent and, I can not day enough good things about the food. It is FANTASTIC!!!

Nice, reasonably quiet bar with every level (and price) of alcoholic drinks imaginable. Bartenders are terrific.

Owners are always on site though maintain a discreet presence. Quality in everything they do.

This place never disappoints. The food is always wonderful. The service is always superb. The cocktails on the menu are not the type of thing I would normally order, but the bartender is always willing to whip me up something new. The only thing stopping me from eating here more often is the price.

My experience was at the bar. Food was very good... I had the Wedge Salad and the Pork Fried Rice... delicious... service was fair. It's under new management. Trying to be 'high end' with college kids working the place is interesting to experience. Looking forward to their maturation as it has great potential..m

Food was very delicious, the filet mignon is excellent! The side orders are very good! The atmosphere is very good, my wife treat me there the night before valentines day. The staff are so friendly. I really brag it to my friends and co workers. Now we have new favorite place that close to the house, we no need to go to Manhattan and pay gas and parking plus toll. Highly recommended. Thanks Ursino, we will be back soon!

A little weird location inside Kean Unuversity, but is nothing related to it, but the decoration is nice. They have, on the top level, a tavern with a nice bar, and downstairs the steakhouse with excellent service, staff very friendly and a balanced menu, with salads, starters, pasta, a large selection of side orders and of course MEAT... we really enjoyed the dry aged cowboy with a side of pumpkin risotto. They also have a good offer of wines. Is not cheap, but it worth it. Highly recommended.

We went for happy hour, the drinks were 1/2 price and they had some appetizers for about $6. Ordered several apps- the wings (hot sauce and the garlic parmesan) they were delicious although the hot sauce ones were a tad salty. We also had the nachos, the bourbon glazed bacon, the margherita pizza and boa buns. The drinks were strong can't remember the names but one consisted of bourbon, amaretto, pineapple juice and I think grenadine. Overall great place, Rich the bartender was very friendly as was the entire staff. Will definitely be back for dinner.

Great atmosphere and I love the desserts!

Anyone who says this steakhouse is not 5 Stars has lost his or her mind. We had steak, which was prepared perfectly, lobster mac and cheese, onion rings, asparagus and chocolate cake. We googled this steakhouse after having a rather long layover at EWR. It did not disappoint. We sat at the bar and the bartender was fantastic. Don’t hesitate one bit about dinning at this restaurant.

My first time here, it will be one of many more !! This place is a well kept Secret. Located inside Kean University campus, it's Elegant, the service is Great, our waiter Effrim was very attentive , and Chef Manuel cooked us a Great Meal.
If you want a great Steakhouse and don't feel like driving to New York,
go to Ursino, you will be pleasantly surprised.

The food is fantastic. I have had the wagyu steak, lobster cocktail, lamb. All superb. Excellent fries btw. Great drinks. I won't lie. The place is a little expensive. Tavern side seating or steak house. You won't regret it.

A Great Steakhouse Treasure Tucked Away Inside Kean University Campus

Our meal was delicious from the soup to the steak to the dessert with a parklike setting outside the windows. My Dad got the rack of lamb and said it was just superb. Prices align to that of a NYC Steakhouse but the quality of the meal warrants it as compared to a typical chain "freezer to stove to plate" steak joint. I will definitely make future trips.

Although the food was prepared well and the service was good, we will not be going back to this restaurant. The steakhouse prices are prohibitive for the average person and I expect a bit more of a fine dining experience for the cost.

Excellent selection of meats with a great atmosphere. We came with a group of 6 and everyone was delighted with their meals. Especially loved the wagyu beef and CAB options.

Wonderful place food is delicious went with some of my friends here for dinner we had such a good time service was excellent , loved the wine the waiter suggested went back ate at the Tavern part just has good definitely will make this one of my favorite places to go !
