A year ago I fell / landed on my elbow and shoved the head of my humerus up into my shoulder - the end result was shoulder surgery followed by 6 mo of rehab. Dr. Mark was great out of the gate and the end result is I am 59 yrs old with absolutely no restrictions / limitations back doing everything I was doing before. The surgery and rehab (with Rob Verkey, DPT with FLH) couldn't have gone better. Dr. Mark has also done surgery on our son for a football injury - also full recovery with no issues. I highly recommend him - he is very to the point and doesn't sugar coat anything and that's how I prefer my physicians be.

I really like Dr. Mark. He explained everything to me that was going to happen with my partial knee replacement, before and after. Easy to talk to, down to earth, just like I like it. AND he reminds me of Hawkeye from MASH, in his bedside manner. I recommend him highly.

I thank God for Dr Mark & Dr Chibuikem Akamnonu!! They were the only Drs I could find to treat my Comp Injuries; 3 of them shoulder. Knee & cervical spine. All 3 of the surgeries they did on me eased the constant pain I’d been dealing with for 7 yrs & in 3 yrs time all 3 surgery’s were very successful!! Highly recommend them all & their staff has always given me the best pleasant, courteous, professional & prompt service & still do to this day!!

Dr. Mark was totally “up front”. He assessed the MRI, said what he could surgically do, and did it perfectly. Instant relief of meniscus tear. My kind of interaction. To the point with results.

I was seen by Dr. Mark after I fell, twisting my right ankle. Having broke the tibia and fibula in my right leg a few years ago, I was very concerned I may have broken it. They took me right in, x-rayed my ankle and leg and gave me a boot to wear to keep the ankle straight while it healed from the sprain. In a follow up visit I mentioned to Dr. Mark how clumsy I was and seemed to fall or trip more than normal. He diagnosed a dropped foot issue in my right leg after I told him I had nerve damage in that leg from the bad break. I have seen several Orthopedic doctors in the last seven years and not one had come up with a reason for my "clumsiness". But Dr. Mark listened to what I said and really HEARD me so he could diagnose the issue. He gave me a script for a shoe insert that will keep my foot level when I walk, thus making me less "clumsy". It is quite refreshing to find a doctor who actually listens to the patient. Very happy with his professionalism and his listening skills. Thank you Dr. Mark.

Had a knee replacement by Dr.Mark my leg from the knee down was crooked, bowed out to the left...Dr.Mark refused to acknowledge that it was crooked. anyone who saw my leg could see it..finally after the third visit a physician assistant begrudgingly admitted it was not straight...not sure if there was reproductions for agreeing. Well Dr.Mark never Explained what went wrong..to make a long story short he preformed a second knee replacement on the same leg and after14 months it came loose...had the third from Dr klotz in Rochester ny..Dr Mark ego is something else

Dr. Mark was extremely rude and unhelpful. He doesn’t seem to like what he does. I have never had a doctor talk to me the way he did. He made my concerns feel like a joke and did nothing to help me. Do not recommend.

I was reaching over our counter and my foot slipped, but I caught myself with my left arm. I felt pain in my armpit area, but it wasn't so much that it felt like it was severely hurt, I just went on with my day. A few days later I carried some furniture then on Monday it felt SO MUCH worse, by Wednesday it was all muscle spasms and cramped and hurt really bad in the armpit shoulder area. I couldn't sleep. It felt like someone was taking a screwdriver and prying my shoulder blade outward. The shoulder ball part and muscle from neck to ball was a little swollen. It hurt down to my elbow the muscle was extremely sore.
I went to FLH urgent care in Waterloo. They were super nice and concerned that the muscle was torn because I could bend it backwards, but not forward at all (due severe stabbing pain) or barley move outwards to the side. She directed me to go see a orthopedic doctor so I did the next day. Got xrays, the man doing the xrays was very caring and he knew the positions I had to maneuver in were really hard for me pain wise. (I must say that I am not a person that cries with most physical pain I just try to shake it off.) This was different probably the worse daily constant pain I have ever felt in my life. The doctor James Mark came in and I could tell by his demeanor that he was irritated that I was visibly upset by the pain. I was confused by it really. He said that it didn't make sense why I was in this condition when there was no traumatic fall or hit to the shoulder. There was no broken bones. I told him it was my muscles. He asked me to move it outwards and I did.....I know it must have looked to him like I wasn't trying because I could only lift it outwards like 3 inches.
He came over and lifted my arm (bent elbow) straight out to my shoulder. I reached with my other arm because this hurt so bad that I knew if he let go it would just fall down and hurt my shoulder even more. He could see this really put me in pain. He told me to put my other arm down and try to see if I could hold it there. I said I couldn't this position hurt really bad. So for some (who knows why?) reason he wrenched my arm straight up parallel to my head. I stood up in so much pain every muscle spasm tightened up my shoulder/armpit area reeled with pain. I did burst out crying I couldn't hold it back it was so extremely painful. He hadn't examined my shoulder went straight to moving it in the most possible painful way. Xrays can't show tearing in the muscle. Then he had the audacity to tell me that he can't understand the dramatics's of it all. I was shocked he was so rude and inconsiderate. He said he can't examine me like this. With my age I probably wouldn't tear my rotator cuff. I agree, but geesh there are other muscles there that were possible torn or stretched and with him wrenching my arm up he could have made it even worse. On top of it all he insulted me with his careless attitude like he thought I was acting like a baby about the pain. If you knew me I am so not a baby about pain, I really have always been pretty tough. I left and let the secretary know I would not be seeing him again. They treated me very nicely and I appreciate that. I would like to note I am only upset with 1 doctor and there are many doctors at FLH. This is not a reflection on them.

I would give no stars, but apparently I have to.
I have never been spoken to so rudely on the phone as I just was by office staff. I was trying to inquire as to why the Nurse has not returned my 2 calls. The first day I called and left a message for Dr. Chibu, and no return call. So I called the next day and spoke to staff again and told her the pain I was in (torn rotator cuff) and I was frustrated because I needed to get a message to Dr. Chibu. She told me she would give the message to next level staff and mark it urgent. No call back. Just called again re: the same issue, put on hold for 5 min. then to be told I need to make an appt. to see the Dr. I said I was just there, she said no, he wont do anything unless I come back in. She spoke over me as I was trying to explain my issue. I asked to speak with her supervisor and of course she gave me the wrong ext. Called back again and asked to speak to the girls supervisor and what a surprise, it went to voicemail. It will be interesting to see if this Supervisor calls me back. Will I be surprised if she doesn't, prob. not. This must be the way their office operates. To bad too, Dr. Ritting and Dr. Chibu were a pleasure to meet with.

Treated my spouse like a idiot. He told her "so because you hurt your ankle you are know going to be in a wheelchair forever ". Well guess what yes she is. She had misdiagnosed CRPS from that boo boo you thought was nothing.
