Dr. Kirti R. Shanker, MD

Doctor Shanker is a very good doctor. She is a very thorough doctor who listens to my medical issue complaint and guides me back to wellness. She is the doctor for me.

I like Dr. Shanker, she is thorough during her appointments and I never feel like she doesn't have time for my concerns. The new facility is nice because it houses more specialities/departments under one roof, so I have been able to consolidate my appointments. I didn't give five stars because they can be running late, esp. if you have appt later in the day.

I have not been to her new office but I called to make an appt and the lady on the phone was awful. I have some paperwork that I need done for school and I was trying to explain it and kept getting cut off, spoken over and told since I hadn't seen her in 2 years (I've been healthy and caught up on shots) that I'd basically need to wait until March for a full new patient physical. I tried explaining I needed it by January and she didn't offer putting my name on a cancellation list or giving me an option to see anyone else in the practice. I work in healthcare and I speak to people on the phone all day, her tone and lack of attempting to help was horrendous. Now seeing other reviews I think I'm going to leave Dr Shanker unfortunately because staff is half of your visit too. The only reason this post gets 2 stars is because Dr Shanker has always been wonderful! Hope she sees these reviews and speaks to her office manager.

Unfortunately, Dr. Shanker herself would probably rate 3 stars, but I'm forced to take into account one of the least customer-service oriented front office staffs I've ever experienced so it significantly drops her average. Unhelpful does not even begin to describe these ladies in my previous 4 visits, but I cannot let this last round slide. Recently, I missed a call from the Nurse Practitioner with some test results. I called back only to be greeted with the same question 3 times, "Do you have MyChart?" (which I refuse to get, we pay a lot for healthcare and this should afford us the "luxury" of actually speaking to a health care professional once a year regarding test results). I was then told I was going to have to hold because she was busy and couldn't help me and that my hold time would be "awhile" (which it was). She got back on the line and said she was transferring me to a voicemail. I asked her why she didn't just do this in the first place and she replied "I was busy". Her attitude throughout both conversations was just plain rude and exasperated. We all have busy days, but when you're primary function is to answer the phone, you cannot afford to be rude and unhelpful. Not to mention the ladies in the front office rarely even acknowledge my presence (their "check-in" is merely a sign in sheet) until they realize I have a co-pay. God forbid, I see the doctor first and pay after!! I do not enjoy going to the doctor period so I tend to go as infrequently as I can get away with, but an awful staff like this is enough to turn even the most doctor-friendly patients away.

We used to go to the physicians at this practice and everything Dae, a previous poster, has said is true. It is the front desk staff that made me leave and never return. They are rude, severely lacking in compassion, and could care less if you fell over and died right there. I don't care how busy they are. If they are overworked, then get more help!! It's not as if OSU can't afford it.

Specifically, one girl, at the front desk who was once very friendly and kind, all of a sudden began treating me as if I had a deadly contagious disease. She refused to look me in the eye and barely spoke. When she did I couldn't hear half of what she said and spoke in an "leave here now" tone. She simply did not care about me or my family anymore. She is severely lacking in professionalism for someone who has been at her job for many years. I think I know why her attitude changed and she is mistaken about what she thinks she knows. How very sad for her to have treated us so poorly based on what someone else said about us.

I would never return to that place, not ever for any reason.
