Losing a loved one is an incredibly challenging experience, and during such times, the support and compassion of others can make all the difference. My recent encounter with Matthew Vogel at Hummel Funeral Home truly exemplified the epitome of professionalism, kindness, and compassion during one of the most difficult periods of my life.

From the moment I spoke with Matthew, he greeted me with a warmth and sincerity that instantly put me at ease. His professionalism was evident in every aspect of his work, and ensuring every detail was handled with care and attention.

But it wasn't just Matthew's professionalism that stood out—it was his genuine kindness and compassion that truly touched our hearts. He listened attentively to our wishes and concerns, offering gentle guidance and support every step of the way. His patience and understanding made the entire process feel less daunting, allowing us to focus on honoring and remembering my mom in the most meaningful way possible.

Matthew's compassion extended beyond the logistical aspects of the Cremation. He took the time to truly connect with our family, offering words of comfort and solace during moments of grief. Generally, one doesn't have an opportunity to rave about their end of life decision-making experience! The staff at Hummel Funeral Home & Cremation guided us through this process with grace and dignity. After a sudden terminal diagnosis, our mother chose hospice as her care plan. This prompted an urgent need for her to create an end of life plan. Theresa immediately made an in home visit and talked us through our options. Although a short time was spent together, Theresa's impact on her/our mental well being was tremendous. It brought a sense of peace and closure knowing she would be in skillful hands. A great sense of relief was felt as my mother expected a much bigger price tag!! Once she passed, the transport team coordinated with the hospice team and a peaceful transition took place. The appreciated follow up contacts to check on us was an added bonus. Highly recommended!

It was a wonderful experience working with Hummel in Akron. They took care of both my parents, one year apart. Both times I worked with Kyle, and he was exceptional. He was reassuring and responded promptly to every call and email. My parents were members of the Cleveland Memorial Society, and when I said that, Kyle said "we know exactly what to do." And then he took care of everything, communicating with hospital staff, picking up the body, doing the cremation, getting the death certificates, and getting the obituaries and photos posted to the Hummel website. He never tried to sell me anything extra.

Words can't express the heartfelt gratitude I have for the Hummel Funeral Home and their staff. I would especially like to thank Emma, Aftercare Support Team, for the time and effort she dedicated to make my sister's funeral arrangements, while my sister passed away in Akron, Ohio, and I live in Nevada, from initial notification of her passing to arranging for her cremation and shipping her cremains to Nevada. Unfortunately I don't have the names of other Hummel employees that played a role in making my experience with Hummel seamless. While my sister passed in December 2022 the Hummel staff, over seven months later are still reaching out to me for any assistance I may need. Hummel Funeral Home is definitely the type of funeral home that reflects "let our family take care of yours" which lessons the grief and challenges experienced when a love one passed away. I would highly recommend using Hummel Funeral Home when the time comes. Over 30 years ago they took care of a very dear friend of mine who passed and everything was so organized and they were personal and it made it less painful.

This is the first time I have had to experience planning a funeral first hand. My parents had prearranged almost everything with Hummels a couple of years ago. But the little extras that we wanted were never a problem and completed extremely are definitely a family first business and treat their customers as family. Hummel Funeral Home was a Godsend to me and my family when my uncle passed away right after the holidays. Teresa took charge of verifying his prearranged arrangements, contacting the cemetery, helping us plan a small service there inside out of inclement weather and finding a minister to say a few words for friends and family with consulting regarding his life and interests.

We moved our mother to Akron from St. Louis, knowing she would likely be spending her last days with us. I also knew that she would be buried next to my father back in Missouri. I had no idea how we would arrange to get mom's remains back to St Louis after her death.
Upon her passing, I notified Hummel and all was taken care of so seamlessly. Hummel arranged for her transport and Theresa notified me when she was there. They worked with the St Louis funeral home to make everything easy for us. We have used Hummel for all of our family members in the past, and we will continue to do so in the future.

Hummel was very sympathetic and helpful when I lost my mom last month. I had no idea how to deal with making arrangements and I had no one to help me, the guided me through and made the process easy for me.
