Had some good meals here the vegetarian spaghetti is good. And got a new Mountain Hardware jacket from the donations closet along with a lightweight cheese wiz orange bicycle jacket when I needed it when I was homeless.

Ara is the case manager and is super understanding. There is laundry for those who really need to use the machines and a sign up process for personal lockers.

The Veterans Museum on the other side of the building is I hope going to be available year round even in the summer because it's not safe to sleep on the street.

The management let me stored some of my clothes at the basement. The last time I have checked the box, I found that some of the clothes are missing plus there are one or two clothes that weren’t mine. I got sick after the exposure… I mean if you steal… that the last thing I should expect but please don’t play your dirty game. Not sure who did these but less likely the management and kitchen/volunteers.

I wonder why the admin/manager lets someone rather than staff staying on the premise after and between open hour. Those are usually coming from one group and not diverse. That leads to the problem if someone has lost something, there is no other way to think who did rather than targeting to this group. If you let someone into the premise, then let everyone else in to, too, for the sake of everyone now will look after everyone else belonging.

I tested Positive for covid after I open the box with the dirty underwear/ or unidentified object that the clothes thief may leave into my clothes box. Minding you I were find a moment before that I slept outside the coldness and woke up without any trouble. This is a murdering act because if I didn’t have vaccines and optimism mind, having covid is like a dead sentence. Now who could I sue? Why these people keeps killing my hope while I try to surviving?

This place is a wonderful service to the community. They share food, shelter, and substance recovery support for homeless people.

Awesome resource for the homeless in Berkeley CA in the basement of the old Veterans Building (WWI). Starting at 8-9 most days they offer free breakfast, showers, & a weekly sign up sheet for the 8 laundry slots each day (2 machines available at 8&9 & 2&3, i think). Offers general respite as a drop in center with various speakers & casual classes offered in the afternoon, ranging from art, knitting, personal improvement, some job/application training, volunteering opportunities (with compensation in gift cards relevant to the individual's needs), the occasional movie. Lunch offered also, usually, but limited housing support & no evident case management, religious bias nor ID required...For better or worse, natch!

It's got all the services an outside dwelling, or not, person could want. Breakfast EVERY DAY 800 AM, showers,lockers, locks for bikes while y'all are there, lunch at 12. Closes at r. I go every day.
