This family run outfitter has been around for 80 years. They understand the area, and the gear you will need to be successful in your future adventures because they have done it. We attended a speaker event - yes, it’s a learning center as well - with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy where they had two hikers who had completed the trail. We covered everything from medical emergencies to the number of socks that you might need for the entire hike. I went from pondering possibilities to “I think we can start this in March” in the space of a couple of hours. We have a bit more to go but i am confident now that this is real and that I now have a place that I trust to help me achieve this lifelong goal. I think you will as well!

Super helpful staff! Izzy, Sam, and Adam (I think those were their names) had a lot of advice and very good service in trying out a specific brand of hiking boots. Seemed like they knew their stuff, even for college-age outdoors enthusiasts (no shade haha). Highly recommend, especially if you want to support local businesses!!!

Really nice store with a big selection of clothes and shoes for outdoorsy people. Came in for 1 pair of shoes and got two! Will definitely be coming back for other things that I'll be needing!

This place is a local treasure. They have great stock in footwear and apparel, and carry loads of other recreation, sports and outdoor gear items. They carry Scout supplies and uniforms, baseball and softball equipment, disc golf gear, watersports gear (including youth PFD's), hammocks, all kinds of bags, climbing gear, you get the picture. Quality of staff and merchandise is top notch. Shout out to Owen who helped my child find a great water shoe for camp. They will order items/sizes/colors in for you if it's not in stock.

This place is a true Arlington institution and I can see why. The selection and product mix was good, the staff are friendly and helpful and the place has this “home town” vibe of a business run by people who clearly know what they’re doing and know their stuff about outdoor activities. If you’re an avid outdoors person or just getting started and don’t know what you’re looking for, I recommend going here.
They seem like they’re more than willing to help.

Love this store! The staff are very friendly and knowledgable about everything in the store. Today, I went in looking for hiking shoes and they walked me through everything I need to know about picking the right shoe for me. I highly recommend shopping here and supporting this great local business.

We had a question about the security of our roof rack bars and without hesitation, they came out in the rain to reassure us that they were secure!! There was so much good stuff in store as well, and I was able to find a fanny pack which I’d been looking for all day. Can’t appreciate their friendliness and customer service enough!

I’ve come here for ski clothing and gear, as well as discs, and hammock items. Every time I’m in they’re always super helpful, offer solid advice and always check in with me to make sure I found what I was looking for. I’ll continue to come back, because they’re always so welcoming.

We had a fantastic experience this morning at Casual Adventure! John and Ashley were super knowledgeable and super helpful! I'm still stunned at their expertise and great customer service, as that is so rare today. Not to mention the fact that the store had everything we needed to outfit the kids for camp. I’ve been searching for a benchmade auto knife for a while now but haven’t been able to get my hands on any near Fredericksburg. After searching the dealers page on benchmade I stumbled across this place and decided to make the trip. Was not disappointed at all, John and the two other gentleman there (didn’t get their names) were extremely helpful and they for sure had a great selection. I’ll for sure be back. Thanks!

I have a couple of scouts and one of them also plays softball. This place has a variety if items and reasonable prices. They also are happy to special order, but we've had great luck getting everything from packable pillows to composite bats!

Great people. Skip the big box store, go here for something real. They’ve got a better selection anyways.
