They handled a a great Girl Scouts program for us for the day. Kept the kids active with activities with hiking, collecting critters, reel fishing and fly fishing. Great property with a pond or two, streams, horses and just peacefulness.

Took the kids fishing at Hidden Pond. For the proximity to Alexandria and the metro area, I’d say this WMA is excellent. You really feel like your disconnected from the urban jungle. The pond was productive too. Kids caught channel catfish and blue gill. Another family, safely distanced from ours, caught small mouth bass too (not keeper size, but still). It was a great escape. Will be back!

From this trailhead, you can bare to the right to take a short, level walk to Hidden Pond. If instead you continue straight, you will walk down the left side of a meadow, and at the end of the meadow, you can follow the trail down into the woods. From there you can choose to make a loop through the woods and come back up to the other side of the meadow, or pick up one of the other trails in the Meadowood Recreation Area.

Hidden gem at meadowood special recreation management area. This pond has just around 50 people fish it throughout the year. Easy access from trails.

Best kept secret in Fairfax county. Beautiful trails, no crowds... Peace, quiet, nature and serenity. (Just be sure not to go on the mountain bike trails.) Now shhh... Don't tell everyone. 😊

Great out of the way trail and the pond is really nice if you want an easy place to take kids fishing.

Currently many parts of the trails are a bit overgrown but otherwise this is a great little park that hardly anyone really knowns about. You can fish the pond and walk around the perimeter of the field. One thing to keep in mind is that there's lots of bugs flying around. The main trail in this park (the Coyote Trail) also connects to the Wood Thrush Loop and from there connects to other trails that are part of Meadowood Recreation Area also.
