I’ve been repairing my family’s bikes here the last five years and they keep them running well and safe. I’ve even come in here once for minor things and the bike mechanics would spend a minute fixing something simple and they send me off. Even though their gear in store is more expensive than buying it online, I usually end up buying it here just to support the business and to keep a great place like this going since they’re a vital part of the neighborhood.

Great experience at Missing Link. My cross bike had several minor issues (brakes, derailleur alignment, loose pedals). They fixed them for a very reasonable price ($130 including new pedals and brake pad). What most impressed me was a previous bike shop had tried but failed to replace the pedals as they were rusted on -- clearly Missing Link has stronger mechanics (or better vices)!

Was having issues with another bike shop so finally decided to try somewhere else. These guys were awesome! They listen to what you want and don't just push the most expensive bike at you. As a novice bike buyer, and just wanting a bike to commute, they definitely did a great job explaining the bikes and giving me affordable options. I recommend them!

The place is as great and reliable as ever. Phil was the mechanic who worked on my bike. I'm glad he's still around. I hadn't been there in over 3 years but he still remembered me, as did one of the other mechanics. If you're going to spend money on bike repairs, do yourself a favor, just go to Missing Link in Berkeley. Okay?

Got great service for a tire issue and ended up buying accessories. I have a hard tail Specialized Rockhopper 29er. I love it, but there are more expensive bikes. They were not pushy or judgmental. Bike snobs. Got good input in tire repair and even local trails from James. Highly recommend.

An awesome bike shop with lots of experienced staff. I love their do-it-yourself bike repair station. Staff are friendly and flexible enough to humor the occasional strange request (can you cut and thread some spokes to 2" length for me?).

Really great deals and excellent customer service.
Our rep, Chris, found me the perfect bike and took a lot of time explaining the mechanics, sanitizing a helmet for a test ride, and more.
Awesome bike shop!

By far the best bike shop I have ever visited. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and don't try to over sell you. The best thing about this shop is they let you use some tools and workspace for free as part of their co-operative. I will be definitely revisiting! Thumbs up!

This has been my go to bike shop since I moved to Berkeley and I can’t recommend it enough. I’ve probably visited at least 15-20 times since 2016. Staff encourage bike literacy and the store has a DIY station where you can borrow tools free of charge (just deposit your ID for the duration). Labor charges are very reasonable and the mechanics that have helped me out have always made an effort to explain what they did and why. Not remembering everyone’s names but James and Patrick are both super helpful and friendly. Great community, plus it’s worker-owned. Gonna keep going here and if I ever choose to buy a new bike it’ll be my first stop.

Went there looking for some 8-speed bar-end shifters for my touring bike that every other shop in the area told me are too old fashion and difficult to find. Not only did they know what I was talking about, they went out of their way to find me some and show me how to install them. Their staff is really attentive and helpful. I will definitely return.

It's not a fancy bike store but the staff are super friendly, pricing is good, and they definitely did a great tune-up of my bike!
We also got a kid bike for $150.

I just recently got a bike so I'm looking forward to shopping here, I am currently looking for a bike chain. Here again low humanity has struck, smashing in the window of another small business.

Love this crew! I always get good service and knowledgeable advice. The techs have gone out of their way to adjust my 18-year-old derailleur several times and one tech persistently trouble-shot an annoying frame squeak over several visits and didn't actually charge me.

This is a COOPERATIVE! How many groups of folx have figured out how to successfully sustain themselves in that mode for so long? That relational work and creating a culture to maintain it is behind-the-scenes work that is unsung. Hats off to you and thanks for modeling community to our community!

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff! My bike crank had a lost component that is quite hard to find but they were able to find a proper replacement and fixed the crank :)

This place is the best. Good selection of the stuff you need. If you just need a couple minute job you can do it yourself and if you need a more complex job they are there to do that. AND most importantly they treat you like a person instead of an idiot like so many elitist shops do. I know bikes better than most... That "I'm a bike genius" "let me tell you" stuff gets old..... This place is not like that at all.... Again, great place

This is pretty much the only bike place I go to. They are definitely overpriced, but they give advice while you're doing repairs using their loaner tools. Sometimes you have to wait, but it's definitely an excellent arrangement for people with no space for bike tools.

Love this place. I like to do most maintenance myself, and Missing Link has the most helpful mechanics. I’ve gotten great help with small things even when my bike didn’t need a full repair. I know where I’ll take it when it does!

Got an old BionX rear hub rebuilt after the previous bike shop did a train wreck of a job. Missing Link went well above and beyond, including hand cutting 36 spokes at two different lengths to get the dishing right without compromising thread engagement. The wheel now rolls smooth as silk, and far far better than ever before. And all at a price lower than what I would have expected to pay in Oklahoma, let alone Berkeley. This shop definitely has master craftsmen who take pride in their work!

Update: Stress tested the rebuilt wheel on the Skyline-Pinehurst loop, and it was so good I had a 10% improvement on my previous speed record. It really is like riding on a rail!

Best bike shop in the East Bay. Chuck made my bike better than new and I didn't have to spend a fortune on repairs. I leave satisfied and very happy with my experience every time I visit the shop. I have no need to go to any other bike shop here

they gave me good advice on what to buy to lock up my bike without spending a fortune. (switched out my quick-release axles and taped up their bolt ends). my bike is cheap, so it's not worth buying the keyed axles. i appreciate their honesty - they're not out to make you buy the most expensive stuff.
