So...they open at 8am, I got there around 7:20am to no line so I grabbed a coffee and waited in Peets next door, only to come out to a line around the corner! Lesson learned, that a line DOES form! Good thing is the line moved fairly quickly and folks were polite.

It was my first time there so I grabbed a couple of almost everything, and everything I personally tried were great! From traditional Croissants to morning bun to egg&ham Croissant (I could only eat so much this morning!), they were all great.

Staff was friendly, even as I added items to my order, and kept the long line moving quickly so even with my rookie mistake, I was out of there by about 8:15am. It does add up quickly though because a few things here and a few things there equalled over $120!

Being a fan of great bakeries, my daughter encouraged us to visit the Fournee Bakery on Domingo Street located across the street from The Claremont Hotel & Spa. While there was no name on the front of the bakery , we assumed we were in the right place because of the ling line of customers waiting to place their orders inside . If you’re smart, you’ll order online and then you can walk right in and avoid what could easily be a half hour wait! There’s a very good reason why people were waiting to get their sandwiches, breads and desserts, everything we ate was delicious!

Wow beautiful and flavorful pastries. The croissants were perfectly flaky, and the fillings had great flavors. It’s one of the top bakeries in the Bay Area. There is a line for sure - but it’s worth a wait!

Awesome bakery but plan on a 30 minute wait to order. It's that good.

Local hidden Diamond bakery located at inner Berkeley, next to the Fairmont hotel. We ordered croissant, scones and some more. Very tasty and special, especially the walnut scone, unlike the others , it’s not too sweet but the favor of the nuts is highly enhanced, the unique taste made it outstanding among other bakeries!

The pastries were phenomenal, the croissants were super flaky and buttery. The canelè had a crunchy shell with a soft and tender inside, a lot of vanilla flavor. Highly recommend these two items. The morning bun was more on the sugary side and could benefit from a bit more cinnamon to balance things out.

Something worth pointing out is that the items were bagged in an extremely casual manner — some would even say sloppy. All items were overlapping with each other. I would have expected them to be neatly placed in the bag. But the overall quality of the food makes us see past that.

Just the best bread and best patisserie we know in the Bay. Would be in the top 5% in France. Prices reasonable for the quality. You can make reservations over the phone, not online yet.

So worth standing in the line, and a well deserved all 5star rating. I tried the walnut coriander scone, ham and egg muffins, and butter croissant, all tasty, and perfect.
It’s also located in a really cute neighborhood so my dog and i went on a walk after picking up the baked goods.

The staff is really friendly and i totally recommend trying this place out.

When there's a line out the door every time you go, you know it's good! It's totally worth the wait. Make sure you load up on ham & cheese and chocolate croissants before they run out!

The quiche is also amazing with hearty filling and incredibly flaky crust. Check Fournée out!

Classic old school French style rustic bakery, cranking out old world breads and a number of styles, including one of the best constructed and baked croissants in the entire Bay. As with most great bakeries, the earlier you come, the better. Luckily for us, this is located directly next door to Peet's, coffee's and t's where you can get a delicious coffee latte to go along with your croissant. Or I can. Or I did. Okay, you get the idea. Great place, great people. I recommend.

The baguette and croissant are truly wonderful. I'm also a big fan of the big breads and loafs, even though their Miche is too often times overcooked. That's too bad. The service is really nice, but incredibly slow, even when the bakery is packed with clients. They would never survive an impatient French crowd!
And I really , REALLY wish they had a slicer. Please, can you guys get a slicer? I'd really be willing to pay extra $ for a sliced bread and not having to do it myself.

Beautiful pastries, vegetable croissant wasn’t the best, but it was a risky order anyways. Mountains of the most beautiful pastries, worth the line.

Lots of people rave about the croissant (and yes they are delicious - on par if not better than Ariscault in SF). BUT..dont miss out on their bread too. They mill their own flour and give some sandwich/Cheese Roll a try (or even better get a whole loaf of bread!)

Get whatever seasonal baked goods they offer cause they are always good.

The line goes quickly, so dont worry.

Tip: call 1 day before to place your order and avoid the long line!

Wow! Their almond crossiant and chocolate almond croissant are the best I've ever had. I'm sad that it took me this long to discover them. My friend loves their olive bread loaf. Great place to go before your Claremont hills hike. I say before because they sell out of everything by early afternoon so beware! There is also a line, but it dies down fast. Don't miss out on trying their scrumptious goodies!

We love croissants and always have high expectations on the quality of the taste: it has to be buttery and crusty on the outside. The best puff pastry is at La fournée, not the the Claremont hotel. Their croissants, almond croissants are wonderful. If you are hungry for savories Ham and Manchego Croissant or Egg and Ham Croissant are really tasty. When I need a treat I go there.

We love to taste viennoiseries in different bakeries in Berkeley and Albany and La fournée is just the Best. No question! You will not be disappointed.
