Gene's Fine Foods

We have recently moved to Pleasanton and were exploring the places around when we entered this store. And we were totally impressed by the collection and the variety of the food we get here. Very nicely arranged and user friendly store. Carries the charm of Pleasanton and it’s people. Would be visiting this store on a regular basis now! Must visit! 😊👍👌👌👌👌

This is such an amazing grocery store! It’s clear that the owners and staff take good care of it: there’s a ton of interesting variety, reasonable prices, and very nice displays of unique foods.

I’ve been looking for a place with marinated meats for grilling, and they have a huge selection — way better than Safeway and double what Whole Foods has. Their beer aisle is also really cute, with neon logos.

They also have a deli counter where you can get affordable sandwiches. Nice place to pick up a quick lunch!

Great local store for healthy foods like quality meats and raw dairy! Store employees were very helpful as well.

I like Gene's Foods but has limited stock. It is not a big market. Most.of the employees are nice, but it is pricey.

Always has a great selection, and the meat/deli area is the best!!

First time at Genes as I am visiting from Az. and was looking for meal ideas. Looked at those beautiful ribeyes and bought 3 for us. Family said they were the best steaks they ever had. Thank u Genes and great employees too for a memorable visit!!!!

Clean, different types of items
High quality and Friendly.

They have a huge meat counter with everything you could want. Even dry aged beef. The produce was perfect, not a single wilted pice of lettuce. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is amazing. They have a lot of metal accents around the store and they really made shopping visually pleasurable. Oftentimes I have been to grocery stores with cracked tiles and dirty windows, and that kind of thing really makes you not want to eat the food there, bit that's not the case at Gene's. Absolutely I will come back here and shop, and I will recommend it to my friends. It's even cool just to walk around and windows shop.

I visit Gene's every day. Very clean and friendly staff.

I love going here. Everyone is always so friendly and so helpful. I loved the education I received at the meat counter about salmon. If it is lunch I love getting a sandwich from the deli counter. Wine sleaction is amazing and they have great organic produce to choose from too.

There needs to be Gene's fine foods everywhere. I love the grocery store feel but much smaller. You can find whatever you need, most staff is very friendly, deli food is fresh and tastes yummy. Love this place, definitely a go to place

They have an excellent meat counter and a very good produce section. However, with that also comes higher prices. Keep in mind though, It's easy to find cheaper prices somewhere else, but it's much harder to find better quality. Whole Foods will be on par, but Gene's offers more choices in their meat counter.

The fish Dept. Is now the very best in Pleasanton.

Upon entering the front door, one will be greeted by a distinct foul odor!
This coming, obviously, from the fresh fish dept.!
It's not only some of the fish that stink, but olso the "ice bed" upon which the fish lie! When the ice bed is not replaced on a daily basis, stink will be the result!
Obviously!!
Fish are a super high bacteria item!
Fish juices dripping on ice will cause the stench after a few days!
Managed a supermarket with a fish dept for 42 years! I should know!!
Other than the smell, nice place to shop!

Great for a short list of high quality groceries. We really like the fresh fish and marinated meats, ready to throw on the grill. Plus a huge selection of craft beer.

Gene's has the best butcher and beer isle in Pleasanton and they hire local kids. Always friendly and helpful. You pay a bit more but IMO it is worth it to support a local business.

Gene's has been around forever. Always great service and great selection. I have to hand it to the store they have definitely kept up with the times and remain competitive in the ever-expanding market of not only grocery stores but higher end specialty grocery stores.

Great store to find those hard to find items.

Ge ne's has an awesome deli, incredible beer selection, and a world class meat department. Cannot go wrong here. I buy enough sandwiches here that I think I have had 4 free this year. You get a free one after 10. They also BBQ their tri tip right out front! 8.99 for a FAT tri tip sandwich is a good deal! If anywhere near by, you have to give them a shot!

I really like the deli and prepared foods/ meals. The quality is good. Gene's is on the pricey side, but that's why it's "fine foods". Their BBQ meats are good.
