Ledger's Liquor

They have an amazing selection of whiskey, and a lot of other liquor. The staff here is very helpful, and made great recommendations. I will definitely be returning!

Ledger’s has the best selection I know of in the East Bay. After calling around about half a dozen places to find a bottle of tsipouro (a Greek liquor), I tried Ledger’s which had not one but *three* varieties. If you want something that’s hard to find, try this place.

Unassuming from the outside, totally unpretentious inside. This is an actual liquor store, where you go to buy hard liquor, not snacks.

Ledger’s has the most interesting and well-curated selection of them of any store I know in the Berkeley area. The building size is a limitation and they don’t have everything, but it’s the most fun place to browse.

I have an unfortunate predilection for the pricey stuff, but they’re as reasonable as anywhere.

Their selection is huge and deep. Ed, the owner, is so knowledgeable and friendly.
If you are a whisky need, this is the place to keep your shelf stocked.

Fun little corner liquor store. Nothing fancy, but they carry some different wines and beers you can't find at chains. They have a whole wall of hard A that ran the gamut of top to bottom shelf liquors. Easy parking for cars and bicycles (they have a rack inside the store). Definitely worth a peek if you're in the area.

What a great find. You can't judge this book by its cover. Inside they have everything you need for a great cocktail party, or to stock your bar. They have an AMAZING selection and super helpful staff. They will be serving all my cocktail needs in the future.

Our whiskey group utilizes them a lot and this is truly an icon in the industry. Don't be daunted by the array: take your time, look carefully. These guys are honest and it's great to support them. They often do private barrels and it's always the best.

Greatest variety of liquors this side of the bay

Fantastic selection of beer, wine, and spirits. I don’t buy wine or hard alcohol too often, but am always able to find a nice bottle for a gift- not sure whether their prices are competitive or not. For craft beers, the prices are on the high side but selection is incredible. Free parking on the side.

Excellent selection of hard to find spirits! They carry multiple overproof rums while most stores don't carry any. Most of the staff was very helpful finding the bottles I wanted. They stock checked when they couldn't find one and let me know when they're getting it back in stock without my having to ask for either. A lot of the spirits they carry are behind a counter, so you have to ask for someone to get you things. Unfortunately, the one person helping us didn't know their stock well, didn't acknowledge he didn't understand what I was asking for, and stood in front of the area we were searching blocking my view. Other than that, great experience. I'm excited to go back.

The place is a great perfect mess…the “down home” type place where they don’t worry about everything being in the perfect place to sell. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, kind and friendly. They are all about helping you find exactly what you want.

Best liquor store in Berkeley for sure, and a serious contender for best selection in the East Bay. Tons of whisk(e)y, craft beer, amari, cocktail bitters, modifiers, and more. Great rum selection, as well. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the selection is fantastic, and the folks are nice and quite helpful. Free on-site parking, and indoor bike parking.

Go here, not Bevmo! This small Berkeley business is a wealth of selection and, even better, knowledge. Wine for a dinner party? So many reasonably priced choices, plus high end bottles from world famous appellations. Need a birthday gift for a Scotch drinking friend but don't drink Scotch? These are your friends. Need a bourbon to try that won't break the bank (and also isn't Buffalo Trace or Knob Creek)? Ed or Austin will happily spend 30 minutes with you in discussion about all the finer nuances. Vodka? Does it really matter? Just kidding! They've got your artisanal, your gluten free, your organic, your grass-fed... Whatever it is you're looking for. And sooooo many tequilas, mezcals, liquers, drams, aperatifs and digestifs! Plus ALL of the fixings, mixings, bitters, shakers and everything else a good cocktail needs. Pay the extra dollar or two per bottle over Bevmo and do yourself a favor. Free parking in the small lot - entrance on University, at Acton.

Also, they let you pay for all of your items with cash or a card, INCLUDING MegaMillions and Lotto tickets and scratchers! Literally everywhere else makes you separate your transactions and pay cash only for the tickets. Long live Ledgers!
