It had been a while so I ordered the 1/2 lbs. burger which is with two patties, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles.
Wow, why did I wait so long:).
It was delicious. fresh, hot and tasty.
If you haven't tried this place and like burgers, do yourself a favor and try it, you will not be disappointed.
By the way this burger was $8.75, CRAZY!

Absolutely one of the best cheeseburgers I have had to date and there has been a few all over the country.
The patties were cooked to perfection with melted cheese all over.
The produce used was fresh.
The flavor was outrageously good.
I will go back for sure and take family and friends.

07/29/2022 Update- Today it was even better than the last time. you taste the care they put into their food. Burger is well seasoned, the bun is fresh and the greens are fresh as can be with good quality dill pickles. I absolutely enjoyed my lunch very much. Did I mention the burger was only $7.80 including tax? There you go:)

I love this place, it's like a little pocket of nostalgia hidden just past the downtown strip. It's like stepping back in time when you visit.

The burgers taste great, the fries are crispy and plentiful, and everything just comes together for a great burger.

I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who's craving a good burger. Amazing service, the lady at the counter was very very kind, and all the food we ordered was delicious. We would definitely come again the next time we're in the area.

If you're looking for something fancy you need to find a different place; However, if you want an old school style hamburger and other like comfort foods, you need to try this place out. What a great burger with that open fire char flavor that I love and with fries that are pretty darn good too. More matchstick style then most places, but they are very good.

Visited for the first time in November after a long flight from Los Angeles to visit family. I can still taste that juicy thick double burger and the best onion rings I've ever had. My family said once I tried it I would forget all about N@#$^&$. They were right. Can't wait to go back. The owner is cooler than a cucumber and I want kimchi. Can we just get married 😩?

Great burger with traditional burger joint vibes. Only thing I wish was different was the jalapeños are raw rather than pickled or roasted. The large fries is enormous... enjoy!

Don't let the facility exterior turn you away. A very unique location with walk through order window and interior with a homey/old time feeling inside. The facility did have some strange issues like the chairs being a little warped, but good food at a good price. Lettuce wrapped burgers were wrapped thoroughly and didn't spill. Service was helpful and attentive as well.

Absolutely delicious. As soon as I finished one of their cheeseburgers I was craving another one. Throw in the crispy fries and a float and it's a party. Really love the flavor, it's simple and good. The outside looks old, but its a clean operation. John makes a great burger

Food was absolutely delicious, burgers well cooked and not too greasy. Prices are very fair, and compared to the Alehouse this location is certainly better, in regard to burgers.

Char-burger is still as good and thick as I remember it fifteen years later. The fire grilled flavor really comes through. Service was friendly from the young men holding down the cash register but a little more acknowledgement or attentiveness to the customers wouldn't hurt. The building itself inside and out could use some sprucing up and a designers touch but I come for the tasty burgers. Oh and can't forget to mention the great hand made shakes!

John's Charburger is the second best burger in CA.. #1 is the burger at Cattlemen's Restaurant, but that's over 20 bucks.

If you are looking for a good old-school-type char grilled burger, you can get it here. Nice staff, good burgers, very reasonable prices. This place is family owned, and you can tell they care about their customers.

One of the most underrated burger joints in the tri-valley. Fries are not overly salty. Double char burger with cheese is great and a super solid BLT. My favorite is they actually sell chocolate malts which you don't see very often. Total grease pit but man is it good, just don't expect anything fancy.
