Jakes Original Tex Mex Cafe

Overall everything was great. Bbq sauce is delicious, and beans on the nachos are very flavorful. The tri-tip sandwich was tasty but if the meat was sliced thinner it would be even better.

I have loved Jake's forever!!! It's been too long since I've been here. Everything was soo good.

This place is bustling and in a good way! The Tritip, Jalapeño Cornbread and Potatoes were great but the amazing food here is the homemade chocolate cake! Great ambiance!

Great place for Tex Mex. Trip tip is the bomb! I haven't had a bad item yet and I've tried a few different items in the menu. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys this type of food.

The food is always good if you're in the mood for a traditional tex mix.

Lunch with friends was great. The food served cafeteria style was delicious and the servers were both friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable. Would definitely go back next time in town.

Always love coming here for the great food and delicious cakes and cookies.. they never disappoint and you get great food for the price. Love their sandwiches and nachos.. they do some awesome chicken as well. Salads are always good. I love the cozy atmosphere and tables. It's my first time back since our crazy year of 2020 and Covid-19. So I was happy to walk through the doors again.. when I was ready to pay I noticed a sign with a photo asking for donations for a employee named Tatum
who is what I assume is battling cancer because of the ribbon 🎀.. I am a severe A Hemophiliac and sit next to those in treatment in Hematology / Oncology.. I know what they go through, they fight just like I do.. So next time you come to eat buy some bracelets and support a BEAUTIFUL CAUSE for a beautiful person. I battle my disease everyday and I want to see this girl go forward with a beautiful future. You come for some great food here but it hits home cause we're all from the same city and SHOULD help eachother out especially after the year we had. Jake's is still one of my favorite spots for food and i wish everyone there all the best. Especially Team Tatum

The food at Jake's is fantastic. I have ordered the nachos, the beef sandwich, salad, and definitely the chocolate cake, and all were delicious.

Fair warning, this place gets hella busy at lunch on the weekdays and parking is a joke. I'd say the food is worth the trouble though.

Great food, great staff as always!! My recent visit I had a health issue and Sara one of the staff was kinda enough to bring me water and even checked in on me! The employees go above and beyond ALWAYS from my many visits here! Thanks again to Sara :)

We have been here several times and it is always good. This particular time I had a shredded beef sandwich and it was good but it wasn't hot.. not even warm.. it was maybe room temperature but turned cold once I put BBQ sauce on it.. big disappointment

Haven't been here since the remodel. Inside not changed too much, remodeled bathrooms and great patio areas. Great food as always, chicken salad with fritos is as good as ever.

This is food that I always crave. The shredded beef sandwich, the taco salad, the creamy potatoes and best of all, that chocolate cake! It is the most delicious chocolate cake I've ever had!

Very good BBQ, but not the Tex Mex I was expecting being a Texan 😁 We drove through Bakersfield on vacation and noticed a highly rated Tex Mex, went in and to our surprise it was BBQ not Tex-Mex, so if youre looking for some Tex-Mex this isnt the place, but if you're looking for decent BBQ and sides this is that place😁

I've been going to Jake's for over 30 years the food is always great the service is always there with a smile and quick. Make sure you get a piece of the chocolate cake if not to eat right then make sure you get one to take home. They also have a lemon cake now that is awesome.

After moving states this is still a well known favorite going through town.

Essentially a “Tex mex chipotle” Jakes is a great place to go if you are looking for Mexican style comfort dishes served in front of your face the same way many food chains have popularized.

Although they are a Tex mex place I would argue their cake, A chocolate cake absolutely layered in homemade frosting is a must buy when visiting. They also have incredibly delicious mashed potatoes.

Pricing is relatively fair/competitive for what you get and the food is great. Their burritos from what I’ve experienced are pretty big and will cover a plate whole. The location is relatively big and good for sit down. Drinks are self serve and easily refillable.

A stand alone location located in Bakersfield CA and a must try if you are coming through. Amazing chocolate cake and great burritos they also have veggie options and preferences between beef/chicken.
