Kohnen's Country Bakery

Always enjoy stopping by this place for a weekend lunch; especially in the winter time. It feels so comfy and fun. Their soups are always so delicious and their sandwiches are equally as great! I especially like their Cuban sandwich.

I also like how efficient and friendly their staff is at taking your orders!

A beautiful morning drive to Tehachapi from Bakersfield. Wow, what a treat for brunch. The roasted red capsicum soup & Grilled Ruben, very delicious. This bakery/resto is definitely a destination permanently on my radar from here on. 💎🏔🥖🥧🧁✨

Now I must explain. I have traveled far and wide and in California. I've yet to find a better bakery than this one. Or may I say fresh? Excellent pastries and European breads. Outstanding. Yes, there are some that have a very good product but then charge a fortune for it. These are excellent pastries sandwiches. A must stop if you're in the beautiful unique town of tehachapi.

Amazing lunch experience due to a wonderful selection of Food, Bakery Goods. We chose the Poor Boy Sandwich which indicates it serves 2 people. Wow, 4 more like 4 people.

We love this bakery! Carrot cake is to die for! Everything here is good. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait, but last few times they have been quick despite being quite busy.

One of my favorite bakeries outside of Los Angeles. Tucked away in a quaint historical town. Bring your sweet tooth! Their peach pie is AMAZING. The buttery, flakey crust!!! Wish I had picked up some to go!

We're new to town and finally got to stop in after dropping the kids off at school. I got a blackberry danish, feta and spinach pastry, and a loaf of pepperoni pizza bread. I'll be back to try other things - the mini cheesecakes looked delicious. Friendly staff and a cute location.

I didn’t know this place existed. I honestly didn’t even realize it was a German bakery. I was floored! The food is great, the service is awesome.

The dining area is well kept. The cases are stocked and I was basically in heaven here. It made me miss my time in Germany even more.

Nearly every time I come to Tehachapi, I'll stop here. The food, the décor, and atmosphere can't be beat. Every sandwich I've tried has been delicious, and their pastries are amazing. My personal favorites are their Tiramisu and Carrot Cake, but their cheesecakes are good as well. Whether you are after a quick bite, or to load up on sweets, this place has you covered.

You can never go wrong stopping here! Fed our family and bought many treats for the road. Their soups are so GOOD! Seriously everything here is yummy! Closed Wed and Thurs so they can take care of you on the weekend!!! Ladies and gents that work their are pleasant and helpful.

The dessert section is a paradise for anyone with a sweet tooth, with an array of cheesecake's and  pastries, The cozy and welcoming atmosphere makes every visit to Kohnen's Country Bakery a memorable dining experience.

We've been here several times on our various trips to Tehachapi. Their food is delicious. I appreciate that they have whole grain bread options. I had a small service hiccup when picked up my phone order yesterday. They accidentally gave me another sandwich instead of the soups I ordered. Since I hadn't ordered soup before, I didn't know each would be in a separate bag, which would have tipped me off to the error. Fortunately, I stopped to check for spoons and realized the errant sandwich. I went back for the soup, which was not a problem. The problem was the significant amount of time it took to figure out how to charge me correctly. I prefer to pay for my entire order. However, considering the time it was taking, it seems like the restaurant absorbing the $4 error would have been the preferred customer service thing to do.

Absolutely amazing!!!!! We shared a roast beef sandwich and could have shared a half. The best roast beef sandwich I've ever eaten. Everyone is friendly and the store was so cute. Our cashier recommended the gumbo and we are so glad we took her up on it.

Inside and outside seating is nice.

Great place. It doesn't look very huge from the outside, once inside it's amazing. Very focused on the German heritage with decor and food. The servings are generous and you don't leave hungry. The service is fast, friendly and the food delicious. Tehachapi is very lucky to have such a family friendly restaurant.

I had lunch today here and I have to say that the soup was EXTRA delicious! Shrimp Corn Chowder! I'm always greeted by the staff with friendly smiles and service! They're quick and very organized. Super clean and its a real treat to visit at the top of the hour when the clock entertains with dancing figures and Edelweiss music playing.

Kohnen’s is a Tehachapi institution. I had the pleasure of trying it out on a trip to visit an old friend. Got an order of five sandwiches and they were all perfect. Really love the sun dried tomato bread. The meats and cheeses are fresh and flavorful. Hard to find a flaw with this spot. I definitely recommend this to locals and travelers alike. Well worth every penny.
