JJ Bakery & Cafe

Friend had recommended the breakfast at JJ Cafe years ago. “To-go” was the only option at that time and sometimes you just want to sit down to enjoy breakfast served hot.

This cafe inside the bakery offers dine-in option. Ordered the “Specialty Fried Pork Chop noodle soup” which is amazingly delicious: two pieces of thick pork chops are lightly salted and the taste of noodle soup is amazingly in traditional Taiwan street noodle soup 陽春麵 style in bone broth with taste of radish and perfect sprinkles of white pepper powder.

Since the closing of Taichung Harbor 台中港餐廳(Alhambra), 老鄉親, Good Taste 味佳 (Monterey Park), and the latest TenRen 天仁(Alh), it is hard to find authentic Taiwanese “street style noodle soup” 陽春麵 in San Gabriel valley. JJ Cafe has excelled itself and gone above and beyond a bakery to serve tasty food in the same establishment!

This shopping plaza is notorious for its parking for years; but the taste of food will definitely make a stop-by well worthwhile.

Nice choice of cake, bread and snack. Cheap for lunch meal when dinning in. The combo worth the price, consisting of soup, vegetables, meat and rice. There are also other choices of some famous Chinese cuisine. The staff is really welcomed. And the dine-in place is clean enough but it is closed for Wednesday. Watch the schedule and come for the food.

The service here is phenomenal. The waitresses were very attentive and the food here is extremely good. I always get the stewed pork belly which is $6.99 from 11am-3pm on weekdays. The bento also comes with a bowl of egg and corn soup which they usually offer free refills on. The amount of food you get for the price is insane. The bakery is amazing. I’ve been getting bread here for several years now and they are always made fresh each morning. The egg tarts here are also pretty good. I also recommend the cold sandwiches and the rice balls.

This particular location of JJ Bakery in Temple City has a huge Cafe area and this review will be focusing on the experience for the weekend breakfast menu served at the Cafe area. Wow, the menu is quite extensive! However, serving size is definitely Asian, so I was pretty much able to order one of everything and finished it all. Everything from salty soybean milk, fried crullers, and even the pork breakfast burger was done to perfection. During our visit, there was even a yam porridge special that came with an entire platter of porridge side dishes. Since we've visited right as the cafe opened, the crowd only began to show up as we were wrapping up. I can definitely foresee long waits especially later in the morning. Now that JJ Bakery has centralized their operations, all the baked good are standard across the various locations. It’s all just your typical well done Asian baked goods.

Delicious Chinese breakfast with bakery items and drinks. Have had many of the many items and have enjoyed them all. Definitely make it a point to come at least one morning when we stay in the area. It can get busy on some mornings but usually is not a problem. They bring out the food as it's ready, so each person gets their food fresh, instead of all at once. Servers are attentive and clarify to make sure they get the order perfect so there is no problem when the food arrives.

Went to this place on a whim, so I didn’t see all of the negative reviews. Considering a lot of the reviews mention mold, in my (possibly ignorant) opinion, that just means the bread is fresh and uses real ingredients. I got a lot of the bakery goods, and they are amazing! I can’t speak on other food here, but the service is pretty good, and I think I’ll be coming back to try the other foods they have here.

The store is stocked with a large variety of cakes, bread, danishes, boxed bentos, etc., at very reasonable prices, all very neatly packaged. The danishes and Chinese baos were all tasty and beautifully crafted.

As close as you get to Taiwanese food in LA. Great breakfast selection. Must have: pork belly bun.

Ate at the Cafe. The taiwanese beef noodle soup was so good. $12.99 for a ton of food. The beef was so tender and melts in your mouth. Also spent about $40 for their bread.

I love the mantou here! Also! The Food here is great for the price! I always eat here when I'm strapped.

Great bread, and one of the best Taiwanese breakfast sit down places. All my relatives who grew up in Taiwan say it tastes very authentic and is healthier also. Also has some affordable and delicious take out lunch boxes. Highly recommended.

JJ Bakery has a lovely sit down area where they serve authentic Chinese and Taiwanese themed dishes. The minced meat and braised pork with rice are amongst the tastiest things to order here!

Prices are very reasonable for a good portion of food.

Bakery/Taiwanese foods, very convenient

This is a Chinese bakery -meaning every thing is light sweet and perfect! If you wanna eat something sweet, just go there. Everything is delicious! My favorite is the mango cake. They used to sell them in smaller slices.
