Dr. Cannon is the best veterinarian! I took my limping dog to her and she was incredible. She spent several minutes acquainting herself with my dog to make sure my dog felt comfortable. Then, she examined my dog very gently and found some things to discuss with me. She explained the potential problems with my dog both very technically, and in layman’s terms. You can tell, she is very smart!!! She then laid out my options very honestly and gave me time to decide what I thought was best for my dog. I felt completely cared for and trust her professional opinion completely. I am so happy that I found an honest veterinarian that makes me and my dog so comfortable. If you have any concern about your furry friend, please go see her! She made me feel much better about my dog’s diagnosis, and most importantly, made my dog feel better!!

Thank you, Dr. Lavac, and your entire staff, too; including, your associates, Dr. Cannon, Dr. Castro, and Dr. Baron, for doing such a great job; that is, providing great, professional service with a smile.

On each and every visit, I am treated with kindness, respect and friendliness. In addition, in a timely manner, too.

Each staff member is extremely diligent about their duties. As well, they always exemplify a tremendous amount of thoughtfulness.

All of your associates, and support staff, are top-notch. They go the extra mile to always to provide me with not only the necessary care my pet needs, but also, to be so encouraging in the process.

In essence, I feel strongly to have lucked out, over the years, in finding such an excellent veterinarian office taking care of me (us).

Thank you!

My beloved pigeon, Clover, died on Thanksgiving Day, 2017. I hoped a full lifespan of at least 20+ years, but I am thankful for the two, amazing, but short years that she shared with me. I loved that pigeon in the same way that Nikola Tesla described his love for his pigeon.

I was speaking to my relief officer about Clover when my wife called me at 6:31 AM. "Clover died!" She wailed... I think the blood must have drained from my face because my coworker gave me an odd look.

Death is always terrible for the living, but life goes on and we have to take care of business. I wanted to get a necropsy (an animal autopsy) for Clovey because there didn't seem to be any reason for her to die. I placed her body into a box in the fridge, and I began calling veterinary clinics and hospitals. It wasn't easy to find an aviary specialist on Thanksgiving Day, so I left messages everywhere.

The first to return my call was VCA Wilshire Animal Hospital. They scheduled a necropsy with me on that day. I delivered Clovey's body right away. I received a call from the director, Frank Lavac, DVM - who is also an aviary specialist - to talk to me about the procedure, and to discuss the follow-up. .

The doctor mentioned that the initial findings showed that she was very healthy and showed indication of trauma, and that from all initial findings there was no reason that she should have died.

Too much to go into, but pet guardians often feel like no one takes them seriously when it comes to grieving. The doctor seemed very empathetic and concerned for my well being. The staff also seemed kind and understanding when I came to pick up her remains.

I love VCA Wilshire, I've been going here for a very long time. They took a picture of my cat and text it to me, which I thought was cool. The vets here are very professional, and they don't try and sell you too many things, although the stuff they do sell you is always very useful, at least to me. We all have our own experiences.

We brought my son’s very ill 8-year old bearded dragon in. He was very close to dying. The exotic animal vet was not available but Jim, the technician supervisor provided us immediate support. He was incredibly compassionate with my son and spent a lot of time talking through the options. He even welled up himself when we decided it was most humane to let our dragon pass away. I myself am a physician - a cancer doctor- and felt the care Jim provided us was simply stellar.

We have been going to this vet for a couple years since our old one closed. They are compassionate and still matter of fact about treatment options and costs. We also really appreciate the great communication. Our dog has had several tumors, one of which turned out to be malignant and needed surgery. VCA Wilshire vets were great throughout the whole process and took great care of our pet. ♥

We were evacuated from our home relatively suddenly due to a fire, so I packed up the animals and kids and headed to meet my husband at his office. We had no idea where to take our animals because 2/3 were not up to date on their vaccines. I called around and VCA Wilshire told us to go ahead and bring them in and they could house them.

Every single person we spoke to was exceptionally helpful and kind and very obviously caring. They took wonderful care of the animals, gave them exams and made sure the vaccines were updated. They called every day to update us, and ask any questions they needed answered and made sure to ask how we were doing during this time as well, which was so thoughtful. I would absolutely bring my pets here again in the future.

You know a vet is great when your dog loves them. They consistently go above and beyond for my dog, follow up to make sure he is doing well, and treat him like a king. Even after neutering, he looks forward to going back and seeing his favorite vet tech Lulu and Dr Castro. I couldn't be happier for them to be our vet.

Dr. Michelle Jack is a life saver - literally! She's been treating my lovebird and my three cats for four years now. My lovebird has made it to 25 years old because of her. The rest of the facility is great - they really care about your animals. The receptionists are helpful, the technicians pay a lot of attention, etc. We've also seen Dr. Edstrom and Dr. Schulke - they're all great.

Note - this place IS expensive. If you mention any financial struggles, they will do their best to help you out in terms of maximizing the most important treatments. Make sure to ask for estimates and say something beforehand.

We have taken our pet chinchilla and cat here a few times and have been very pleased with the care we received from Dr. Michelle Jack. When your beloved pet is ill you feel very vulnerable and distressed and it was a great comfort to observe how much Dr. Jack and staff sincerely and genuinely care. We are so thankful to have found her and this place.

I have been going to Wilshire Animal Hospital with my dogs for almost 25 years. The vets, techs & all the staff here truly care about your animals. Dr. Lavac is a board certified avian specialist and Dr. Schulke is a board certified feline specialist but the both see all kinds of animals and they also see exotics here! Both Dr. Lavac & Dr. Schulke are incredibly caring, knowledgeable, professional & compassionate (as are the other doctors here, too!) It is rare to find such an amazing group of caring veterinary professionals! Most importantly I consider everyone here friends/family.

Dr. Lavac saved our birds life! On a super busy day when he didn't have time - he made time and amputated her little broken leg. He's so wonderful!

This review is based solely on the fact that, despite not making a personal visit, this was the only animal hospital that would take in a ground squirrel that I found suffering on the side of the road. I called VCA Wilshire Animal Hospital; the receptionist was lovely over the phone and the hospital was very accommodating in general.

The squirrel died shortly after I'd called them (so I didn't make it there for a personal visit), but I feel this is what real animal care is about: vets who will take in wild animals and euthenize them to put them out of their suffering.

Thank you!

Owning pets and having Dr. Levac as your pets' veterinarian is double the pleasure! Through the ups and through the downs of pet ownership, Dr. Levac has always made this "patient's" owner feel good! I am sure that this doctor is the best veterinarian this side of New York City!

I can't speak for all the vets at this hospital but Ashley Mustakas is the best. My dogs love her and she is always willing to take the time to explain things. Dr. Mustakas is very compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, and professional. There have been a couple of times where Dr. Mustakas went out of her way to meet the needs of my beloved dogs. Do your pets a favor and take them to Dr. Mustakas.
