We are so incredibly grateful for every single employee at this hospital. Our cat Finnegan recently passed away and the kindness you showed my wife and I when we brought her in for the final time was incredible.

She had been to this hospital multiple times over the years and all of the vet technicians/veterinarians/specialty doctors are the best in the country. A sincere special thank you to Dr. Bridget Harvey….you are the absolute best at what you do and your compassion for us and our sweet girl is so greatly appreciated.

To every single employee, thank you for everything you do for our animals. It’s incredibly important work. If you live in the Greater LA area, there is no better option for high quality animal care than VCA West LA Animal Hospital.

We had such an incredible experience here with everyone from the check-in staff to the technicians to the doctors. Our cat tore his CCL (cat equivalent to an ACL) and the miniscus in his back leg and we had to have a pretty major surgery to put in an artificial tendon that our usual vet clinic couldn't do.

From the very first moment the entire team were attentive and kind and took the care to thoroughly answer all our questions, provide detailed cost estimates, and make sure we were comfortable through every step of the process - including checking in several times the day of the surgery to give us nervous parents an update and several times afterwards to see how recovery was going (we also had two follow up appointments in the office so they could see how his leg was healing). Icing on the cake - the procedure came in under budget.

We are so thankful we chose the West LA VCA for our baby's surgery, I cannot say enough good things about this place - I'm surprised the reviews aren't higher. It's been two months now and our cat has full mobility and is jumping on everything - as cats should be able to do! Hopefully we won't need to come here often, but if we have any future pet emergencies we will 100% be coming back here.

Thank you Dr. Hyde and team, please enjoy this picture of Zeus being much less grumpy! 😊

It's February 2024. Before you leave these guys a bad review, keep in mind they are one of the only pet ER facilities left in your area. Beverly Hills Animal Hospital, doesn't take new patients. Laurel Pet Hospital, no longer 24/HR ER, and neither is the VCA Facility on Santa Monica Blvd in WeHo. If anything was to happen to your pet in an emergency situation in our area, you'd be directed here.

I arrived, scared. I acted difficult (not on purpose) in triage. I didn't want to be away from my dog while he waited to get checked out by medical staff. I will say, there's a reason they examine your pet without you around. Medical staff can observe your pet's behavior to the best of their expertise before asking the pet's owner/co-owners what's going on.

After medical staff examined my dog, the doctor called me from the lobby into an exam room to get my take on the situation and decide best treatment. He had a notebook in front of him (which I loved, because as a Virgo I believe in the power of organized note keeping and we love a fellow note taker). I told the Doctor all my thoughts and he was able to determine quickly what he thought best treatment was.

Before they take your pet in for triage , you sign paperwork reminding you an ER visit costs between $750-$1500. Don't give staff an issue on the cost. I see a lot of reviews mad about cost. No staff you interact with during your visit has any power/control over what services cost, so don't pick that fight with them.

Dr. Benjamin Jasper did everything he said he would do, and followed up like he said he would. He even told me he got other doctor's opinions on my dog's x-rays and any physician who consults with other physicians and has no ego admitting this, is someone you can trust. Dr. Jasper only sees pets in an ER situation which is a stressful job in and of itself. In my opinion based on my own experience taking your pet to see Dr. Jasper at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital means you are going to be in the hands of a comprehensive professional you can trust.

I took my dog to this location twice when he had a cardiac emergency. They admitted him right away and returned him to me well with a wagging tail. The cardiology services are NOT more expensive compared with other locations, but the services and staffs' professionalism meet or exceed expectations.

Unfortunately, I had some health issues with my dogs, so I have a pretty good idea of the quality of care at quite a few facilities. I am very well aware that animal care is a multi-factorial matter, so I’ll try to be as objective as I can.
The West LA animal hospital stands out in many ways. It is a real hospital, not a veterinary office. It is very well equipped for basically any type of health problem/procedure you may encounter in the lifetime of your pet. One of my dogs had a rare condition, which affects only about 10% of dogs of that specific breed. Most veterinarians do not encounter this in their practice. I made the diagnose myself (I happen to be a medical doctor) and took my dog to multiple veterinary offices. All of them misdiagnosed the condition. They didn’t even know what I was talking about. I was confident that my diagnosis was correct, so I called almost every major animal care facility in Los Angeles. Every single one refused to see my dog. ONLY West LA hospital agreed to meet with me, see the dog and discuss the treatment plan. When we came for the first visit, I was amazed. Everything, starting from the front desk was superbly organized. We met with two doctors who later operated on the dog, the whole team that was taking care of the dog pre- and post-operatively, we did a lot of diagnostic tests including MRI. The quality of everything (equipment as well as patient care) can put to shame many hospitals for humans.
I would like specifically thank Drs. Owen and Rosselli, who did terrific job operating on my dog. I met with them before and after the surgery, we discussed everything in details, they both showed profound knowledge of the matter and I felt very confident that my dog was in the right hands.
With no reservation I recommend to anyone who needs highly skilled experts in any condition, especially rare and complicated, to take their pets to West LA animal hospital. This hospital in my opinion is a gold standard of animal care.

I brought my dog in for after-hours emergency care after she dislocated her hip. Everyone working there, front desk staff, vet techs and the vet was so kind. They took great care of my baby and I can tell they really care. I was anxious about the process and I felt like they communicated very well every step of the way. The facility was also very clean.

I can’t thank VCA enough for taking care of my fur-baby’s emergency needs and handling my situation not only with quick service, but with respect and compassion. I’ve never been so afraid and they were able to calm my nerves despite not being able to save my baby. I know it must be tough to share bad news with pet-owners, but they handled it so gracefully and made the best out of a horrible situation. I’m at peace knowing my little Louis is in a better place and no longer in pain 🤍

We landed at West Los Angeles VCA at 1 am after being relieved of over $700 by an urgent care in Agoura Hills who after seeing our cat, knowing all the info we'd given them before we arrived, told us he needed to go to a 24hr hospital. We left and went to the closest 24 hour hospital in Thousand Oaks. It was so bad, they gave us all the terrifying things that could be wrong with our cat, then told us they didn't have an ultrasound available until Tue (it's midnight on Thu) and that if we admitted him, if he couldn't hold food down they wouldn't release him again until he could, even though they wouldn't be able to give him the scan he needed. We left, scared but unwilling to do that. The place was horrible too. We ended up at WLA VCA. Dr Sujata was fantastic, thorough, and specific about her concerns. We didn't admit our cat but took him home for a few hours as he was stable and it was less stressful for him but we were able to bring him back the next day for the needed ultrasound. The next day, Dr Martin was equally as thorough and specific. We were there for an emergency. In the same way when you go to a human ER there might be long waits as more critical patients come in and out and did take all day. I believe in prioritizing necessity. It wasn't cheap, however, the two terrible places we went to were as expensive. We are lucky enough to have credit cards and pet insurance so we had options but Dr. Sujata was very clear as to why she felt he was stable enough to go home even though admitting him was an option for a possible earlier ultrasound the next day. By not just admitting him because, she could have, she saved us $3000. We couldn't be happier with the patient care and the patient parent care we received from the staff here. Just a side note, as my husband is over 62, he got a 10% discount on the cost of emergency treatment. Would recommend this place for emergencies. If you can afford it, ASPCA pet insurance is great and will be reimbursing 90% of this event, which in total cost about $2100 but could easily have been $5000 or more.

We were very impressed by our experience with VCA West LA. Unfortunately we found that our Aussie had cancer and we are spending our last days with him. We worked with Dr Martin and she delivered the sad news professionally, with compassion and most importantly equipped us with the information we needed.

We found the facility and staff top notch and would recommend this Animal Hospital to anyone looking for great care for their animals. Sorry to see some folks on here leaving bad reviews, but I believe the majority of clients have a very positive experience with this business.

My cat, Orion, had surgery and follow-up treatment here, and I couldn't be more thankful to the staff for their kindness and patience throughout the entire experience. The facility is very clean and they even have snacks for the pet parents as they wait. The staff was knowledgeable, and kind, and didn't make us feel like they were rushing to get us out. We unfortunately had to bring him back in for some urinary issues post-surgery, and we were treated with the same urgency and kindness every time.

VCA WLA staff- Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Sincerely,
Orion & his human parents (Sam & Mike)

My dog had a spinal stroke, and was left unable to walk. With the great care from Dr Caitlin Doran, and her suggestions for his pt and home health care, in just 3 weeks, he's able to walk. He still has away to go, but her love and care come through - I also had a great experience with Dr Chandrakumar in Internal medicine - a few months ago, my other dog was unable to breathe, and their emergency room saved her life. While it's an expensive hospital, the care is A1

From my dog’s life threatening emergency to hives to “something’s wrong, he’s acting weird” these vets are THE BEST. They are careful, attentive, animal-loving and also great with us humans. Unlike some urgent care or emergency vet hospitals, I never feel like they’re trying to “upsell” me on meds or shots or interventions that are not absolutely essential.

I continue to be INCREDIBLY impressed with the care we receive at VCA West LA. Thank you always!!

I was referred to this hospital by my primary veterinarian because my Foxy Mama has a heart issue. From the very beginning I have had nothing but positive interactions. Dr. Allen went over the procedure numerous times with me and was very patient as I'm not very familiar with heart terms/ functions. Everything from the procedure,follow-up visits, payment issues and the medication schedule was clearly explained as well as followed through. Just finished our 2-month checkup and again everyone went above and beyond. 🖤🐶🖤 Here are a few pictures of Foxy Mama living her best life....

My little Pikachu had his last night with us at VCA west LA. He was a regular cardiology patient and often saw Dr. Alan and Day. I appreciate that I was able to communicate in between visits regarding any concerns I had via email and I appreciate the compassion and care for his last day. Heart disease is unpredictable. These photos are of him earlier the same day. He had a bit of a rough night, but it just got worse throughout the day and we realized it was time. 😔💔 They explained the options with transparency and gave us the time we wanted in a quiet room with him before having to say goodbye. 💔💔💔

In life they say you get what you pay for. I have had zero problems with VCA West. I don’t know if they are cheap or expensive because to me price doesn’t matter when it comes to Zoë, my canine best friend.

Dr. Doran has done an incredible job with Zoë and I am thankful to her and highly recommend her for and spine issues with your doggie.

Our pup Danny had to go in for a tummy issue and stay overnight/most of the next day. Dr. Jasper, the emergency vet at night, initially assessed him during the nighttime and was extremely thorough when going over everything with us, suggesting what he would do and how to help. We decided to leave him overnight for treatment. In the morning Dr. Boon checked him out and with all of our frantic questions, he was amazing at answering them and giving him the right treatment. My family and I are extremely thankful for everyone who helped him and helped get him home safe. Thank you so much for all you did. He is on the road to recovery!

Our dog collapsed during our morning walk and we came in to get her checked out. The facility was clean and the staff was extremely nice and answered all of our questions. They were able to check her right away and run a few tests. Dr Hayward shared all of the findings and explained the things we could rule out and potential causes. Extremely knowledgeable and I have complete faith and trust that they cared about our dog’s health. The receptionist and the coordination person was very friendly. If there was anything ever again (I hope not) I would come here again.

I immediately brought my dog to the emergency room here after a major accident. He was instantly triaged and the staff at the front desk were extremely kind to me as I was emotional and had adrenaline surging. The doctor on duty was very kind and thorough with his findings as well as offered a couple of treatment options; including a conservative route.
My dog had emergency surgery today and could not be happier with how VCA has handled this. I've had non-stop communication with the Orthopedist (who was able to fit his surgery into her schedule). She has been an absolute angel while I've been a hot mess. I've felt like myself and my pup have been in the best hands possible and I feel like he will have the best chance at a full recovery because of the staff at this clinic.
Look, we live in West LA with major inflation problems. Vet school is NOT cheap, rent is NOT cheap and medical equipment is NOT cheap. I have realistic expectations that in an emergency situation, my treatment plan will NOT be cheap. This is why we have access to pet insurance and should all take advantage in case of emergencies.
A HUGE thanks to everyone here! You're the best.
