Evergreen Cemetery

In 1926 a haunting was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, strange voices coming from the cemetey. As it turns out a speak easy was being operated at the park serving alcohol during proibition. The cemetery is much quiter on this rainny day.

Very large cemetery. Well kept and full of history. If you enjoy seeing old gravestones or want a nice quiet place to walk and enjoy looking at history, I would recommend a visit.

I had the opportunity to visit the Evergreen Cemetery this past weekend. What an experience. I spent hours photographing the site, so much history to record. I wish they would restore the chapel. I differently will come back on a foggy day.

William Joseph Seymour (May 2, 1870 – September 28, 1922) was an African American, holiness preacher who initiated the Azusa Street Revival, an influential event in the rise of the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements.

I drove by and there it was. The sheer magnitude of the headstones, all shapes and sizes took my breath away. I felt the Souls. Beautiful.

Historic Wilmington cemetery built in 1857 is the oldest active graveyard in Los Angeles County.

I mean... It's a cemetery. Not sure how much you can say about a place like this. My family is buried here and as far as I know, they're still there. The entrance is a bit narrow but that's not much of a complaint.

Is this a good place to be buried? Maybe, but you'd have to ask the people here.

Talk about an old Cemetery!. This cemetery has to be over a hundred and something years old, lots of History here.

Beautiful cemetery, large, with nice roads, chapel, & stand up headstones.
Some areas not level, wear appropriate shoes.
Some street vendors sell flowers nearby.
You may need a map/directions if you don't know where a grave is located.
Best to lock your car to be safe when you park at graveside.

my father is buried there if I were to be able to move him I would the land seems to be very poorly a nun maintenanced. The pleasure is only just to visit my dad. If he wasn't buried there I wouldn't be visiting. A landmark should be taken care of not destroyed

The renovations are looking good. Im so glad this historical landmark is getting the care it deserves. The staff are very friendly and very informative about the cemetery's history.

Very old & historic cemetery in East Los Angeles. There's a Japanese section of upright headstones. Movies are filmed here in other sections. The sign posted says it's an internatl cemetery with Japanese, Hispanic & I believe Vietnamese burials. Well kept landscaping.

Evergreen handled my Grandmother and Mother's Crematorium and it really changed things. They picked up the bodies and the death certificates which made their passing more tolerable of the paper pushing services. They even made an arrangement for family to do a viewing that never got to say good byes because of their health issues. I plan on having them handle me and my wives crematorium matters. Thank you for all you offer and do.

I never knew about this cemetery until my grandma was buried here. I can't say there is another place quite like it. It's Beautiful even though the grass is completely dead.

History!!! This car has been parked in that one spot so long that there are cobwebs going from its front bumper to the ground.

Historical place with a nice view of LA skyline. Lots of old head stones and Statues. Several key people that developed Los Angeles buried there.
