Shoreline Park

Probably one of JBLM's best kept secrets. Great park/playground/walking trail and swimming hole, lots of docks made for fishing off of too. You can often see Bald Eagles as well.

Base access or a sponsor is required to visit. Little American Lake is no wake too, so that is nice. BIG PLUS: how often can you find a beach in Washington State with sand!!! If you want to rent a covered pavilion, do so through Russell Landing Marina. Super cheap. Deposit is refundable if you clean up after yourselves.

Swimming in the roped off area is supposed to be limited to Fri-Sun, noon-6, Memorial Day-Labor Day, when they have lifeguards on duty, but I've seen a ton of kids in there without lifeguards, just know you are responsible for your child's well being!

Try to take your garbage out with you, they sometimes have an issue with can overflowage in the summer.

Quiet, calm, and really only busy on the weekends.

My dog loves his walks here! It is a great place to hang out and get with nature!

We had an awesome time here. They have a small fishing pier, pavilions, picnic tables, grills, and restrooms. If you make reservations they will issue a key to the restrooms otherwise you will be using portables.

Pretty decent park there are pavilions available for rent with electric ports, a dock, and even a water slide. Parking on the black top is limited but they're is an overflow lot next to it. It looked like there were some minor renovations going on so I'm sure there will be something spiffy happening.

A great family resort at Joint Base Lewis McChord. Its at the Fort Lewis side on American Lake. We took the family and enjoyed teaching my son how to swim there. Staff was nice and the food shack was great for inexpensive food. If your former military or active duty, its a great place for some r and r!

Multiple areas to access the water. My kids love the park. My husband loves the fishing. We can pick blackberries here too. Plus we went out today and the MPS were super friendly and even took the time to clean up litter left by other visitors. We enjoy every visit here.

Excellent swimming! Be aware DoD credentials are required; as this park is within North Fort Lewis military base boundaries. Swimming only when lifeguards on duty: Fri, Sat & Sun only 1200-1800. Picnic and fishing areas open all daylight hours, 7 days / week.

Awesome place. Beautiful lake. Watching parents and their children fishing is fun. Every part is clean, and their is a nice trail on the shore of the lake that goes around to the outdoor rec center, where you can camp.

It’s beautiful scenery it’s not too much family friendly but besides that it’s a fun time and I recommend it to anybody that wants to go and swim

Great swimming spot, clean park, fun and multiple leveled play structure, multiple bathrooms, lots of picnic benches and BBQ's. The kids and I spent all day here so come prepared to stay awhile because it's a great hangout spot.

Great place for military families to come and enjoy lake life: go fishing, rent a boat or a stand up paddle board, or just get some other kind of water fun.

We love going here but it is always super packed. The kids enjoy it because of the slide.

The only way to get to this awesome lake is to blow through some big guarded gate. I've never been caught. The lake is worth it if I do.

In the three-years we were station on ft.lewis, my kids and I spent a lot of time here... we love the playground and the beautiful lake..

Nice military camp and hangout area for summer. Fun area for kids to swim and play. Covered areas for picnics and BBQs.

Beautiful location for fishing or just hanging out in the sun or resting under the shade trees.
