I’ve been to 3 different ERs in the last year. Olympia, Lacey and Madigan. Madigan is hands down the most caring and cleanest. Capitol Hill was fast but not sufficient. Here I feel like I’m being taken care of. Providence was dirty and hard just felt rushed with no answers.

Doctors are really great and helpful, nurses too. People complaining about the wait time like they ain’t ever been to an emergency department before.

They did a great job with triage. If you have a minor issue, you will probably have to wait an insane amount of time. The ER was my absolute last resort and they got me in right away. I can't say enough great things about all the officers that took care of me.

Madigan ER staff and surgeons saved my life when I needed emergency life saving surgery in April. People complain so much about Madigan but when you’re dying they do everything in their power to save you.

I had to go to the ER several times again between April and July for less critical but still urgent complication s and yes it took hours to get a bed in the inpatient wing but it was no different than when I had to go to the ER at St. Joe’s.

They’re doing the best they can so people should really calm down and put things in perspective.

Thank you Madigan for saving my life!

Dr. Wade did a great job taking care of me at the Madigan ER. He did a very thorough evaluation and diagnosed me quickly. He and the nurse kept checking in on us as well. Very pleased with my experience!

Thank You to all the staff at the Madigan ER. I came to the ER scared with serious health concerns and from the moment I walked in the front desk staff, the nurses, and doctors all were caring, compassionate and professional. I knew I was in the best hands possible which is worth more than anything. Keep up the great work and thank you for your service.

I was having excruciating pain in my back running down my leg and I must say thank you to the nurses and doctor that took care of me. They were very gentle, quick and understanding to my pain I was experiencing. I believe that we need to give credit when credit is due. Thank you again

I may have waited for nine hours but the doctors and nurses were very professional and helped me. Very caring staff!

We've been there twice. Excellent service both times. Yes, you wait, but a fraction of the time in a civilian ER.

The ER can get very busy in the evening. But I have had better luck during the morning-noon weekdays. They have been very good to my family. Thorough diagnosis with xrays, ct scans and labs. It is a process with being there for many hours, but worth it when you are sick. I recently took my daughter there after 2 fail civilian urgent care visits and they did a munch better diagnosis,

So, I have some thoughts, as someone who both works at the hospital in the behavioral side plus someone who was a patient with kidney stones this week.
I personally had a great experience. Low wait time, great because manner, etc. However, I can definitely see why a lot of people are mad, particularly if you were there for a civilian. They absolutely prioritize more urgent issues, and they absolutely prioritize on duty military in uniform. If you're not in uniform, it may be better to leave and go somewhere else. I know that's harsh, but that's likely why so many people had a bad time.
Also, understand that the majority of the staff are not allowed to diagnose you. A few people talked about feeling ignored because staff said something like "sore throat" when your esophagus was closing etc. For me, I literally had a kidney stone, worst pain in my life, and they called it "left flank pain." Everyone I talked to said that it's probably a kidney stone, but they weren't allowed to call it that until it was verified by a doctor. So if you feel like they're downplaying your concerns, that's probably why.
Honestly, in my own experience, I would rather it 5 stars, but I do understand and believe everyone else's reviews on here, so I do think that is probably not a great place to go for military family members.

We have only had 10-11 people here no ambulances so for an Emergency Room it’s not busy. That being said, it has taken over 4 hours and still waiting. When we were seen the nurses were very nice and helpful and the on call Doctor was great.

staff were kind but inattentive. took me 6 hours to be released when i was told they would be expecting me and had a plan, only to find out they didn’t when i arrived.

I was advised by my OB team to come in for medication and fluids after having such severe “morning” sickness that I hadn’t kept down any food or water for almost 24 hours. I was dizzy, dehydrated, and had no other options due to Tricare. While receiving a doctor ordered blood draw, SGT TORRES made several insensitive and sexist comments about how women shouldn’t get pregnant if they can’t handle the nausea. He asked me if I had “read my books” before becoming pregnant, then asked why I was surprised I was sick, and he doesn’t get why pregnant women come in at all, how it’s always the same with us, and that I shouldn’t have came in and was only advised to for liability purposes (this man knew absolutely NOTHING about my pregnancy or medical history). All completely unprompted. Considering I was so sick and obviously pregnant, I started crying from frustration and disbelief. He just continued with my blood draw. No apology, no nothing.

Ladies, if you’re pregnant and seeking care for your symptoms / concerns, please try to go literally anywhere else. You will wait for hours and not be taken seriously. I would hate to hear of another woman being treated with the same disrespect that I was.

***Thank you to the kind woman at the desk who helped me file a complaint against this man and took my concerns seriously.

The worst ER experience. Slammed full. Went in thinking my appendix ruptured and there was NO sense of urgency. Unprofessional staff. Went two hours without nobody even getting called. But I sure did hear the staff laughing together in a room down the hallway. Lowkey rather just suffer than to ever come here again.

The wait times are wild. You hear staff loudly, for everyone in the waiting room to hear, say that the time for them to be off needs come, and it’s not fast enough. You see staff just chilling and hanging out. If you ask about wait times (after waiting 2+ hours already), the front staff will talk negatively about you and make fun of you.

Also, the front desk will let employees (who are not currently working) jump ahead of the line (fast pass 1 hour wait time) even if others have waited multiple hours.

It’s just really unprofessional; if I could give 0 stars I would.
