Chronis Famous Sandwich Shop

The Chili Burgers, Chili Hot Dogs, Chili Fries were really good. The menu is very similar to Tommy's but the Chili is made fresh in their kitchen so the texture is nice. Also the details of how they put together the sandwiches and your food makes a difference in the overall taste. The facility is clean and the dinning area is pretty spacious and covered outdoor picnic tables and benches.

The guys making the food were really nice and professional.

Place was really nice and retro looking and the workers were really nice and direct. Food was really good, the chili cheese fries were so delicious and nicely seasoned, they stayed nice and hot after 10min which was a plus for me. Burger was good as well it was a great homestyle burger with good seasoning especially with the chilli it really made it so much better. Ingredients were nice and fresh as well. Definitely recommend if your looking for a good chili cheese sauce and retro vibe.

Ambiance: Not much to this place, you walk up and both the kitchen and the cashier are in one long room. Right on the street, but it's not crazy loud. There were some tables around the back and plenty of parking.

Service: I've had a pleasant experience both times I went. I ordered over the phone the first time, and the person was extremely nice and helpful, this seems like a pretty popular place, but he didn't rush me. Ordering in person took a bit longer, but nothing to worry about.

Food: I don't usually like chili dogs from fast food places because the chili is always suspicious. Lol. This place was so good. I don't think I'll even bother with any other place. Great portions, filling, the hot dog had the infamous "snap." I ate mine with the peppers for extra spice, and it was perfection. Unfortunately, the chili cheese dog was so good that I probably won't try anything else, lol

This place has been opened since 1945, and they are famous for their Hot Dogs, Chili Dogs, and Chili Fries! They also have Hamburgers, Pastrami Sandwich, and a Chicken Sandwich as well. Friendly and fast service. Very affordable and good portions. They have outdoor seating and a free parking lot. Wheelchair accessible and free street parking as well. I highly recommend this place!

I still can't bie e chronic is still around. I my parents have taken us their when we were kids our whole life now I have generations eating at chronic (aka:Johnnie). Everything on the menu is the best hamburbers... Chile cheese fries.... Hot dogs still just like I remember as a kid love this place.

The snap is back! Delicious and must try for any Angeleno. I don’t miss the dodger dogs anymore, but I sure did miss this place. The one good thing about going back into the office is being able to visit local lunch spots again from my childhood. Had to try my dog two different ways, plain with mustard/chili only and one with pickles/chili, cheese and mustard. Both were great. Maybe my new go to order.

Dogs no longer have the snap and texture I loved :( will try again to see if just a bad day or new recipe. They will lose a star or two if the recipe changed, because that was the uniqueness of these dogs.

I love this place! Best damn chili dogs in So Cal. Tough to get to ELA these days as I don’t live as close as I used to, but worth a trip every now and then.

I actually tried a chili burger for the first time ever and happy I did. Not better than the chili dog, but a good burger with the best chili = really good chili burger. Still had room for a chili dog, as long as i cut out the fries, so all good. Might be my new regular order. Fries are over rated :)

Best chili dogs around. I like mine with everything, which means onions and mustard but also add tomatoes and pickles. Hots dogs have a snap to them and chili is delish. Service is always friendly and if you mention you grew up on this stuff, plan to to talk about some of the glory days with them. Fries are always good and love getting some grape soda which is old school as well. Make sure to grab some yellow chiles too! Prices are fair for the amount of food you get.

Chili dogs so good that I want to break dance on the sidewalk out front so intensely that it makes a long lost love return! Yep! They are that good! Qué sabor! Go Dodgers! The break dancing thing on the sidewalk out front. No one has done that there before right?

What a hidden gem! Totally worth a freeway detour if you’re passing by Commerce/Montebello area. If you like The Hat or Tommy’s Burgers, I am sure you will LOVE this place. The gentleman made my fries fresh to order, the chilli was piping hot, and the hot dog was ideal in length. I can’t wait to come back to try more of their delicious menu items. Great service— very friendly here. Large parking lot for the shop which was great. Lots of outdoor seating on vintage picnic tables. A true LA vicinity classic! Chronic have been in the same location in East L.A. over fifty years and surviving throught the years and still in business. People enjoy their hot dogs since the beginning they open they add it hamburgers and pastrami and other items to their menu

They serve natural cased hot dogs here. When you bite into the hot dog you get an extremely satisfying snap. Also the chili here is delicious and not too greasy which I didn't know I appreciated until I had thiers.

been coming here for years since I live in East LA, food is always delicious. The customer service is top notch, would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes delicious burgers/hotdogs/ and fries w/chili!

All I can say is DAMN!! I went there thinking I wasn't going to like it but either it was Chronis or another burrito from a roach coach. And I didn't regret my decision. I love their food because of there price and portions size. I'll recommend this place for a quick bite. This place doesn't really need a review before you can see it has a loyal clientele.

Very great food. the fries were very very great flavor. i been all over the world Chicago ,New York, Miami, Texas nothing beats the Chili Dog here been in business since 1945 & now i know why. im a level 7 Reviewer with google with over Half a Million views, i do this for a living.. so you can be sure to cone here and get great food & top service.

Stopped here for lunch and had the chili cheese burger with chili fries. I can honestly say that they have one of the top chili's in the L.A. area.
I've been coming here ever since I was a kid, I'm now in my 50s. Service is slow, but employees are friendly.

Looks super delicious and taste amazing, the cook is great and he took our order and got it right the first time without writing it down. Definitely will go again and highly recommend :)
