I’ve had Sugarfish in Pasadena and it was as pretty good and this spot is just as good or better.

I ordered “Don’t think, just eat” option and added about three different dishes that weren’t in my meal option. All the sushi pieces were ever fresh and delicious. The proportions are on point and the flavors are phenomenal.

I’d definitely come back here again and try their other menu items. Overall it was we a solid dining experience.

Parking is very limited & you’d be lucky to find some on the street or you can get nearby paid parking.

This was a well paced meal that was perfect for conversation. Sugarfish primarily does pre-set tasting menus/ omakase that are in the $30-40 range. You can probably get a better deal somewhere else if you just want to eat a bunch of fish, but overall, the food was great, and the environment was intimate. Perfect spot for a date.

Hands down the best sushi I have eaten and I was extremely impressed. Also, excellent value for money. I was absolutely stuffed by the end of it. The crab hand roll and scallop sushi were divine. I am still dreaming about this meal and have told everyone! It will become a new tradition where every time I come to LA, I need to come and eat the Nozawa Trust Me set.

What an experience! I have been trying to come here for years, and so glad I did! Melt in your mouth, freshest, tastiest sushi I’ve ever had! Waitress were super sweet & knowledgeable. Price is also very reasonable compared to other chain sushi restaurants. Will be back for date night!!

This is a five star sushi experience and the price to prove it. Sushi was of excellent quality prepared to perfection. If you’re not too hungry the Nozawa Trust Me is enough to feed two people. I’d recommend this place as long as you’re willing to eat the price.

There wasn’t a wait when I went but midday around 12 gets pretty crowded so be sure to bear the rush. Restaurant is quaint and small but fun and nice decorations. Overall a great vibe and the food was good. I’d definitely come back in the future. It’s on the pricier end but pretty good

Exceptional. Food is all raw but amazing. Served almost 'course style'. Staff was respectful and courteous. The food was served quickly. The fish was delicious. If my eyes didn't see it I wouldn't know for sure I was having raw fish. Also the rice alone was divine. This place will likely ruin me for other sushi spots but I think my palate is just poor($) enough to appreciate the mediocre sushi of other locations and the amazing sushi here. 2-3 individual bathrooms available with amazing lighting. A few booths and tables. I wouldn't believe it fits more than 40 patrons. The wait area has 2 chairs so expect to wait outside but the wait wasn't long. Paid parking all around with a parking garage close by. Close to a lovely coffee/dessert spot and a mall. It is downtown LA though so expect the typical crowding, millionaires walking around the homeless, people watching you eat through the window, etc.

The staff is amazing and so helpful. The food was absolutely spectacular and reasonably priced, especially the Just Eat boxes. It’s also completely peanut-allergy friendly for those who deal with allergies. Can’t wait to come back for more.

We rolled in 10 deep before a concert on 4/4 and while they were clearly a little shocked at us they were great sports, gave us great service, and of course the food was on point! Even the price was good! Loved it. Will be back.

This is, without question, the best sushi restaurant I have ever visited. The tenets of nozawa style sushi as described on the menu absolutely ring true. The fish was phenomenal in texture and flavor - the salmon melted in my mouth like butter! The sake was also a great deal. My friend and I each had a Trust Me - I agree with the staff recommendation to have at least one of these. The entire meal was filling and an extremely fair price for a mini-omakase experience.

Yummy evening overall. Sushi rice batch a bit too fluffy-soft, and sushi vinegar used in the batch made the rice noticeably off balance. Portion of rice to cut also excessive. Would have preferred less rice. Not sure the fusion dish at the end of the tasting course made sense, I liked that the least.

However, the experience was still really good by general standards, so I didn't feel like it was enough to demote a rating for it.

The ambience was spacious but still felt cosy, interiors sleek but of contemporary class. LIghting was very lowly lit, very intimate dining experience.

Quality of the fish and sea life very very good though. Would chance another visit.

Yeah, this spot was stellar. Expensive, but fair for the quality of food they are serving. Service is excellent and the wait isn’t bad at all to get in. All fish is super high quality and prepared deliciously.

Rice is on another level. Lots of use of the ponzu sauce, which I’m very partial to. They provide 5 or more course options for food. Very great.

The sushi here is great! We went for dineLA but I ended up just getting their “Trust Me” menu. I also ordered the uni and the anago (eel) separately. They were good! You can tell that the quality of the fish was good, and that the ingredients were fresh. Just be mindful that your whole party has to be present to be seated, and that parking is always a little difficult in dtla. Overall, it was a great experience. The ambience and lighting were nice, the servers were all super friendly, and they checked up on us often.

Really nice traditional sushi joint. Very good quality fish, great service. 16% gratuity included in bill, which makes things easy. Loved it!

Tried the “trust me” $32 dinner menu. It is basically like an affordable omakase. The sushi quality is really good and the presentation is clean and simple. Its definitely worth the price and I don’t have to feel guilty spending $80-$200 for an omakase meal (although almost always worth it). It is nice to have a cheaper one for a change but still live up to the quality.

Before I had Sugar fish, the sun was just a yellow grape, but now it burns bright. To qualify myself, I have been to Japan and tasted some of the best sushi I've ever eaten, and this place is AS good. I'd say that's high enough praise. Even as a to-go order, they manage to create a product that not only amazes, but lingers in my mind between visits as I'm forced to eat the mediocre sushi in the central valley, holding back tears. 10/10

Amazing sushi with great service. Keep it simple with one or the “Trust Me” options (I go for the Nozawa.) It gets busy some come early or be prepared to wait. You can always put your name on the list and head a few doors down to Seven Grand for a glass of whiskey.

They maintain their quality even for a delivery service. We ordered bunch of sushi as a la carte and excited about the food.
At the same time we were kind of skeptical towards the quality since it was a delivery order.
Guess I was totally wrong.
It came super fresh even after half an hour.
Super delicious.
Their sweet shrimp is super juicy and sweet and they melt in your mouth

Sushi-only. An unexpected gem in LA, offering quality sashimi and sushi like toro and sea urchin at a great price point.

An absolutely spectacular sushi experience at SUGARFISH. This was sincerely one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve had in recent memory, and I have dined across the globe. The space is hard to find at night—very discreet signage, if you blink, you miss it. I actually like this about the place. It feels very much like a contemporary, serene hole in the wall. We got the “don’t think, just eat” omakasen as well as a bottle of unfiltered sake, and everything was phenomenal. What an interesting amalgamation of flavor profiles and textures. The highlight of the meal for me was a special scallop with ponzu. The pricing is also extremely reasonable. I very much enjoyed my experience here, and cannot wait to come back!
