This place is a Los Angeles treasure! I love coming here and I especially love bringing people here for the first time. The food is great, service is excellent and the decor is top notch kitsch, in the best way possible! They also serve up the smoothest margaritas in town!

Wonderful spot, great food. This was a nice experience to eat Sunday lunch at this legendary restaurant. Everything was delicious, the service was nice and friendly. The interior seems to be very original as it was for years in a good sense. By the way I got a specially made vegan burrito for me. Just simple but yummy beans, guac and raw onion wrapped in tasty tortilla, delicious. I would appreciate a one single fully plant-based item on the menu. I believe, people would like it!

Always a plus when you're out of town and you can find an authentic Mexican restaurant like we did with El Coyote. Ample parking outside, a very pleasant staff, and a menu with a wide variety of choices for dining and drinking. My wife had a Fajita Burrito (pick included) and I had a Green Tamale and Chile Relleno combination platter (pick included.) Both meals were absolutely wonderful and if we hadn't been leaving town that afternoon we would have dined here again the very next day. That should say something about the quality of food and service. Keep up the good work to all at the El Coyote. I almost forgot. As with other Mexican restaurants you get chips and salsa for appetizers prior to your meal. The two salsas sat down in front of us were some of the best salsa we've had in all our travels.

Fun kitschy Californian Mexican place. Very Hollywood vibe.
The rice and beans have no lard or meat broth (I called ahead and asked and also reconfirmed with our waiter), so it's great for vegetarians. But lactovetetarians, because all of the vegetarian options on the menu have cheese. And are delicious.
My fellow diners enjoyed their chicken fajitas (note if you order a "fajita" it's a regular one, with meat, onions, peppers, etc, but if you order a "fajita plate" it comes with no vegetables - I found that part a bit confusing).
Sitting on the patio was nice.

Finally got to try this spot after driving past it for years and did not disappoint!
All the food we ordered was delicious, service was great, and margaritas were strong. What more could you ask for!
We came at lunch time on a Saturday and got a table for 3 with no wait.

I loved this place. Fun, kitschy cal/mex. Historic to LA. My burrito was La Cucina style which I thought meant guac but turned out was enchilada style which I was all for. Service was wonderful, my waitress had been here 30 years. Read my mind with drink refills and gave little touches like wrapping up my food while I was in the bathroom and saying “I left the chips so you could decide what you wanted to do with them. I felt like I was in someone’s home. I know, a bit touristy, but I’m a sucker for great service, especially in LA. Will happily recommend to friends.

My first stop on my LA trip. After a busy morning of traveling .. this was a great place for lunch. The service was slow , but the food and atmosphere Made up for it! I got to see the “Tate” table, which was kind of eerie but cool at the same time.

Try their “House Famous Margarita” it’s fantastic . And for food the Enchilada Howard yum yum yum

Photo is baby's dad and baby but you can see my tamale at the bottom. It's kinda dark in there where we were but I'm sure alotta people like that. Free chips and salsa. Reasonably priced dishes. Especially for now a days. I gotta skinny margarita, ah ok honestly I got 3. 😆. They're not that BIG. But they're strong enough. I got the green tamales and they were vegetarian if you're vegetarian. The tamales were pretty decent size and came with rice and beans. You get 2 tamales. Baby's dad got a steak burrito, pretty BIG size. Both dishes were really good. I'd definitely go back and I'd definitely recommend El Coyote to anyone else, Especially someone visiting LA because I think they've been here a long time. Kind of like an LA staple.

One of Los Angeles wonderful historic eateries. The first time I had lunch here it was 1990. I moved away ten years ago & to see that it survived Covid was already a delight. They have updated pretty much all the dishes. Everything was delicious and my friends who were enjoying this spot for the first time loved everything about it. I recognized at least 4 of the illustrious waitresses! I hope they stay because they are treated like gold! I miss the giant margaritas they were so wonderfully over the top. My friends said theirs were excellent even though they were in tiny sophisticated glasses. Core memories about the neon green heavily salt encrusted margarita mommas that used to come out of the kitchen are hard to erase but I'll take the word of my young companions. This old standard is a delight & should be protected. They had a roaring fire greeting us at the door & the decor is riches for the eyes!! Come here- the food is fairly priced for heaping plates of delicious food!!

I've been coming here for about 20 years and they never disappoint! Margaritas are awesome, Mario (the bartender) is amazing and Donna, the waitress in the bar area always remembers our names and our favorite items.
This place is our home away from home.

This visit to El Coyote, was unexpected and I was so excited! My family and I have been coming here for quite some time. The food, service and Ms. Dorothy (in the bar area) made our night enjoyable.
I had a delicious strawberry Margarita and forgot to take pics. Oops!
Next time for sure because I am definitely going back.

I used to live down the street. This place is a staple in Los Angeles. Fantastic Mexican food! And don’t forget to order the wedge salad with blue cheese. It's incredible. No more than two margaritas, or you better call Lyft!

Beautiful restaurant decor was of course of Mexican and the staff was friendly and well known by many patrons.
My first time and I wasn't disappointed. Delicious food, and a generous amount.
Margarita was strong but nice and smooth

Highly recommend this spot! They were able to make the burrito “La Cocina” style vegetarian and it really hit the spot.
