WDFW American Lake Boat Launch

Great place to get that boat into the water for that ideal day. It has a fair amount of fishable bank as well for those who prefer a more grounded experience! Comes stocked with bathrooms and enforcement of a no litter policy.

Boat Launching is made easy at American Lake lots of space and made easy for 1st timers. Also great place for Swimming , Fishing, family friendly, pet friendly and also bring your binocular’s place is filled with American🦅

Today and yesterday were finally some epic summer days out on the lake with all the beautiful people!! It was a blast as always and we’ll be missing days like this too soon! American Lake never disappoints!

Great fishing lake If you have a boat or kayak . Watch fish get caught every time. If not, by fishermen, the many Eagles that live on the lake.

Had a blast and caught 5 trout over 3 lbs in weight! Best lake so far for 2024.

Awesome place to go rock hound.. pluse u see a bunch of eagles diving in water to eat.. it's pretty amazing

Nice two lane boat launch. Large beach area for shore fishing but the water depth increases very gradually so bring your longer rods to cast way out there and get some trout! Pretty view and lots of bald eagles.

Caught some nice rainbows had a couple kokane wiggle off. Boat ramps are nice too! My first time on the lake, will definitely go back!

I have used this boat launch several times. The launch and the parking lot are well maintained. Everyone I have meet dropping boats in the water have been friendly. If you live in the Tacoma area this lake is a great place to go.

Usually is not so packed but today was almost 100° so it was a little crowded

It's nothing special but there was plenty of parking when I visited in March. I didn't launch a boat. Instead I took my inflatable paddle board to paddle around the south side of the lake. There wasn't really a grassy area. Just a pebbly beach. The south side of the lake seems to be the quiet side without any houses. Just nicely treed shorelines.

This location gets very busy, so get there early. If you're not towing a boat or kyacks, please go to the regular parks as parking is very limited and should be reserved for those using trailers.

Boat ramp is easy to use, especially if you’re new to boating. Ramp is not steep. One draw back is there are no docks, so you’ll have to beach boat on rocks (small) or have someone hold it.
Parking lot can fill up on busy days but I’ve always found a spot. May have to walk a bit.
People do picnic on the beach and fish for trout there. Overall, easy access and free if you got your annual fishing license.

Please ask for volunteers to clean up the parking lot. Beautiful place.

This is by far the best place to launch a boat-no matter what size- on American Lake. It does sometimes get a little busy, but nothing like other places. Two lanes and they're easy to hit. Gotta have a discovery pass to use but besides that there are no other fees. Plus, even tho it's Lakewood, I've never really felt concerned about leaving my truck and trailer in the lot whilst out on the boat. Because, well, it is in tillicum...
But! Have been there probably 25 times last summer and no problems. Maybe it's the pro-gun-rights decals?

A nice launch into American Lake. Bring a friend as there is no dock to tie to after you drop your rig in the water. Not crowded on the weekdays at least, however it wasn't super warm out so that may have contributed to the numbers of boats there.

Great for launching any type of watercraft. Pleanty of free parking for rigs and trailers. You must have a Discover Pass or the parking pass that comes with your fishing license to park here. Gets busy during Summer, but people tend to be patient and follow the rules. #LetsGuide #LocalGuides

Boat ramp is wide enough for 2 trucks at a time and there's space to unload kayaks or other small craft next to the ramps. Can get quite busy on nice days
