El Gallo Bakery

This is the only place that I can find in SoCal that serves white mole. To partake in it here, you must order a dish they call "El Velo de Novia" ("the wedding veil," from Spanish), featuring grilled black tiger shrimp drizzled in the sauce, served with a buttery mound of rice. Like most other moles, it is thick, has a piquancy that gradually builds the more you eat of it, but is tough to nail down vis-à-vis exactly what's in it. In addition to chiles, allium, and butter, the creamy mole certainly seems to have white chocolate involved, along with almonds. Due to the influence of the latter two ingredients, it is sweet and tastes like Christmas to me.

I enjoyed my mole blanco experience. It's very much unlike other moles, but similar in some ways as well. It is wise that Mexicans serve this only on very special occasions, as it is a bit "much" for an everyday meal -- the density and richness of the mole makes it impossible to eat very much of it without feeling full.

Let me just start by saying that I drive about 25 miles to go buy in what my opinion is the best pan dulce anywhere. From their conchas,empanadas,puerquitos to the cuernos con mantequilla and on and on. They also have tamales and champurrado for purchase as well. If you are looking for some great pan dulce this is definitely the place to go and its definitely worth the drive.

Food is absolutely amazing, Hey they have delicious menudo, not too thick chaparado, the conchas pan dulce go earliness worth the wait and you won't be disappointed

This restaurant has a no-frills setup and some amazing moles! Authentic and delicious. Looking forward to my next visit! Get the platter - it's delish! Tortilla chips and salsa are on the house.

I recommend their exclusive "PAYASO" pan dulce!!! The best in East LA. No one can match the taste. My wife has been going to El Gallo since she was a kid. A childhood favorite. Overall, fun desserts! 🥐🥮🍪

Yummy bread with nostalgic names

Que chulada de restaurant. Good food, homemade everything, and superb service. I will come back with my family when the mole cravings strike again. The horchata here is amazing!

If you want some fresh Mexican sweet bread this is a place to go. They also serve tamales early in the morning they have carnitas and they also serve champurado...pastries are legit!!

I love this bakery! I probably go 2x a week to stock up on pan Dulce lol … Parking is a little crazy sometimes. People from other businesses will park where the bakery’s customer parking is so sometimes you have to search for street parking.

Om! Delishz sweet bread!! I usually go after work, so I get there after six and OM!! the sweetbread is hot, fresh out of oven...soooo gooood....I can't wait to get home so I wind up eating bout two chocolate conchas as soon as I step out! Om!!! The chocolate chip muffin is soooo gooood ...best bakery in E.L.A.. I live in Pasadena, but this is only stop I make in E.L.A...

I absolutely love this place! I highly recommend their cafe de oya is delicious and their omelet eggs covered with mole and chile verde!!

Great panadería, café de la Olla is great, and so are the tamales and pan.

One of my favorite latin "panaderias" in East Los Angeles. My mom and i love their bigotes and my boyfriend logged their pumpkin empanadas! You should definitely stop in for some treats!

Awesome bakery. Lots of delicious breads. Coming from NYC, I was craving for some Mexican pastries. This was the place. The service is friendly and the coffee is amazing. Bear in mind there will a small queue, but it shows how popular this is.
