Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Downtown Los Angeles

We were in LA for the weekend to celebrate a birthday and valentine's day. This came up as a nearby theater and was withing walking distance of our hotel. This was a pretty unique theater experience. The old sci-fi posters and the cabinets with various memorabilia were a cool touch. They have a full menu and the food was good. We loved the unlimited popcorn which has real butter and comes in a huge stainless steel bowl. The servers come to you. You just write down your order on a slip of paper, put it in the holder and turn on the service button. Same thing for refills. I love their house rules: No theater admittance if you're late, absolutely no texting/cell phone use and no talking during the movie. They will remove violators and they have staff that check throughout the movie. There's old movie and TV show clips shown which you wait for your show to start. The whole experience was awesome and we plan to go back as often as possible.

I'm a movie fanatic and let me tell you this theater IS GREAT! It was my first time visiting and I'm an LA native. From the beginning, the worker who helped me choose my seat was energetic and made me feel welcomed. The ambiance feels like something you would find in Oregon or somewhere in the PNW lol. It had the hipster feel from the decorations to all the great movie posters lining all the walls. The elevator takes you to the 2nd floor where there are so many theater rooms!(I couldn't believe this was always in Downtown LA) The sound was amazing, the screen perfect, not having to turn your neck like in bigger movies theater establishments. Even the attendant that asks if you would like to order food while you watch your movie was really cool. Worth the extra price compared to a common movie theater discount. Overall, I'm glad I stumbled across this cozy, local theater. Definitely returning to see Godzilla in December!!!

Great selection of beers on draft. The food is great. If you like blue cheese, I recommend the Hell Fire burger. If you go there on Tuesdays, there's karaoke from 8pm to 11:30pm. Come watch a movie early, then stick around for karaoke!

My first time at a luxury/reclining seat movie theatre that had server service from your seat.

The interior decor was very classic with old movie posters and art. I was able to watch with drinks and food without having to leave my seat. Seats were very comfortable and they also recline! A server will come to you and explain the process. The only thing missing is a bathroom at your seat, otherwise it’s the best experience for watching a movie.

I now look forward to future movie releases and don’t think I can go back to a regular theatre again. The selection in adult beverages and food is plentiful. Their loaded fries were delicious and I’d try their other menu options next time. Customer service was excellent.

I’d definitely come back again to watch movies here in the future. Parking is at the structure and there is also a bar/karaoke there after you watch your movie. I highly recommend this spot to rejuvenate your movie viewing experience.

This is a great place for people of all ages! Though located on the top floor of The Bloc, it is wheelchair accessible and very fun! The have karaoke and discounted movies on Tuesdays too.

I’d say the food is priced/tastes about as good as you’d get at Red Robin. Candy is soooo over priced ($5 for a regular sized M&M /Sour Patch Kids)

Absolutely fun! Nostalgic and quirky total treat for cinephiles and foodies alike. Be there early for the trailers and for the grub. Give yourself time to look around and see all the cool things there and heed the rules of place to keep up the dope culture Alamo Drafthouse has.

The pre-film show was wonderful. The film was fantastic. The food and service here were absolutely wonderful. I had a satisfyingly full stomach and equally satisfying service from the profoundly excellent service from the wait staff. I look forward to going here again in the future!

How fun to have an actual meal while watching a movie!

You check in with the cashier at the Alamo Drafthouse and then ride the escalator up to the movie theater. This has been here for quite some time. How did I finally experience this at age 52??? I need to get out more!

The bathroom stalls are unisex and an open sink area to wash your hands. I'm ok with all this & found this so fascinating. Each stall is your own private toilet room. Tiled floor to ceiling. So cool!!!

We ordered the following (sorry no photos):
•Truffle & Parmesan Popcorn
•Chicken Cesar
•Breakfast Club (came with fries, delicious!)

Come early if you want to order the Blueberry Donut French Toast Bake. Our movie started at 10am and they ran out of the BDFT Bake.

Everything we ordered was delicious!!! The flavored popcorn was a delicious twist to plain buttered. The Breakfast Club has arugula & lemon aioli which I think is great paired with the thick cut bacon and fried egg. The Cesar Salad came with your choice of crispy or grilled chicken. We went grilled. AND they have Sweet Tea!!!! YUMMO!

Service was great!!! There are little sheets of paper & a pen. Write down whatever you would like to order or are in need of, press a button & a server comes over to see what is needed. Love this system. Minimal disturbance to your neighboring moviewatchers. Brilliant!!

I really cant wait to go watch a movie here again. It is such a treat! And after the movie, go back down the escalator & checkout the bar/pub vibe to chillax with a beer & enjoy music of the DJ. Who would have thought you could eat brunch, watch a movie, order drinks & chillax at a pub all in one location!!!

Great environment to go see a movie by yourself or on a date night. It's very clean and the food service there is outstanding. The servers are helpful with any food selection you may have and are very professional. I just wish the movie selection they have were better. But the establishment isn't to blame, it more the movie industry's fault. If the movies were worth watching, I'd actually never leave. I almost forgot, the seats are very comfortable and they recline as well. You'll have a great time here.

I was pleasantly surprised when i walked in. DVDs to rent and they also rent out DVD players?! 🤯
The theater i went to was intimate, but with lots of room. Server was very nice.
The pre-movie shorts were cute and fun to watch. As a newbie it was a bit overwhelming bc there are steps to take, but it was such a nice experience overall. I look forward to bringing my movie-goer parents here!

Easily my new fav theatre. Love the atmosphere, and how they bring food and drinks to your seat. The chairs recline and are very comfortable. Everyone has got to see a movie here at least once. I promise you it won’t be the last

First time here and it was great! I got the burger and it was huge. Unless popcorn was delicious and way too much! I recommend getting there early to enjoy your food in the semi-light and watching the extensive pre-movie entertainment. Enjoy!

SO GOOD!! Def recommend. I was delighted to see some random clips they find that they play 30 mins before your movie time. These clips are related to your movie. So when I went to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse, they played various old and new clips that involved a Spider-Man.

You can also order full meals and drinks from your seat. Your server takes your order before the movie starts.

On various nights they have either karaoke or comedy shows. And the bar opens at 4 PM. You can also rent old DVDs for free! Their old movie wall posters are fantastic as well.

What a great concept - the Alamo Drafthouse downtown. It’s easy to get to by public transportation, it’s very unique & you can order drinks and food brought to you by the staff. Nice reclining seats and their free refill popcorn for only about $10.95 is great!

Ever wanted to watch a movie and just be catered to while you sit comfortably while enjoying the show? Well, I found the perfect place ALAMO at the Bloc Fun, fun, fun, movies, drinks, food and free video games! Food and drinks catered to you while watching the movie. What can be better than that. Come and join the great atmosphere where all are welcomed to have a great time. I did, and you won't want to leave.

This was such a fun experience and the staff was friendly and on point with their service. I will definitely be going here more and enjoying all the deals and movies too. Plus it’s cool to have a place that plays a lot of throwback movies too.

The food was solid and the drinks were good. Seats were comfy and they recline too.

I love everything about this place. The movie selection, the food menu, service, and the comfy reclining seats. Everything is wonderfully curated. Only downside is the parking garage (parking and making one’s way to the theater takes a lot of time), which is why I try to look for street parking at night. Truly my nugget of joy in LA 😍

Hands down my favorite theater in town. Their curated screening of films series are just amazing.. I have a monthly membership, and I watched every Kubrick’s film in theater last year.
