Tomato Pie Pizza Joint Silver Lake

Legit slice. One bite. Many bites. Nobody knows the rules. Place is good. Pizza is crispy. People are nice! Great regular and great Sicilian slices. Garlic pesto knots are a must add. My new spot for a quick pizza fix.

Arguably some of the best pizza in Los Angeles.

The first pizza bought with money sent via Code&Kin was eaten here on March 26th 2024.

Generally, LA is not known for great pizza until now. Tomato Pie Pizza Joint (est 2006) is a corner pizza joint that makes the perfect NY-Style pizza in Silverlake. They have two other locations: So.Pasadena and Woodland hills.

As far as I can remember I have driven past by this place going to work for years. But today is the day I checked it out. I arrived as a first time customer. I was warmly greeted by Caesar, staff, at the counter. I told him that it was my first time at this joint and he explained to me the pizza slices they have. I perused their menu (pizza, pastas, subs, appetizers, salads) and decided to get a slice of Mr. White (Garlic olive oil, oregano, romano, ricotta, parmesan & mozzarella cheese), reg Cheese pizza and bottled water. He was kind enough to give a complimentary pizza The Grandma (crushed tomato, garlic, basil, light mozzarella & our original pecorino romano crust) pizza, as a first time customer. I was grateful!

Pizza was flavorful and its crust was great. It’s exactly the kind of NY style pizza taste that I’m accustomed growing up in NYC. Service was great. Staff were friendly. Atmosphere was relaxing. Their sleek interior 60’s design definitely stands out compared to other pizza joint in LA. Prices seem fair. Overall, I loved every pizza moment. I highly recommend them.

I recently dined at Tomato Pie Pizza Joint, and I must say, the experience was delightful. I ordered their barbecue chicken pizza and a side of garlic twist knots, and here’s what I thought:

1. Flavor Explosion: The barbecue chicken pizza was a flavor explosion in every bite. The tangy barbecue sauce perfectly complemented the tender chunks of chicken, and the combination of melted cheese and fresh veggies created a harmonious blend of flavors.
2. Garlic Twist Knots: The garlic twist knots were a heavenly addition to the meal. They were warm, buttery, and infused with just the right amount of garlic. A real treat for garlic lovers!
3. Crust Perfection: The pizza crust was crispy on the outside yet wonderfully soft on the inside. It provided the ideal base for the toppings, and I appreciated that it wasn’t too thick or too thin.
4. Generous Portions: The portion sizes were generous, making it a great value for the price. I had enough leftovers to enjoy the next day.
5. Cozy Atmosphere: The restaurant had a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a casual dinner with friends or family.

The tomato pie pizza joint is a great little pizza place. They have phenomenal pizza truly top class. I was here with a fairly large group and the pizza came out fresh and fast. Service was amazing and so were the people. I would highly recommend checking out tomato pie pizza joint and would love to come back.

I moved here from NYC and had settled on the idea that I would never truly get NY style pizza in LA. Tomato pie changed that for me today! Very good and true to that east coast style. Pretty decently priced too

We grabbed some slices, the Grandma, the Mac & Cheese, and the Syracuse-Style Hot Wing. Everything tasted great, the Grandma was the best but everything had it’s own unique flavor. I was weary about the mac & cheese but they did a great job. The Syracuse wasn’t as saucy compared to the others but it was still tasty. Looks like they have a little outdoor area to eat but we had these to go. They heated up the slices for us too! Definitely recommend.

Great pies! My gluten-free friend and I ordered takeout: the Miss Green with a gluten-free crust. I’m not even gluten-free and this combo + Truff hot sauce was the best thing I ate all week!

Great place for pizza! Clean diner style and friendly staff. Actually reasonably priced for LA food at $15 total for 3 big slices and a drink. They had unique drinks and delicious pizza. Will be back!

Hands down one of the best pizza places I've been to ever! It was perfectly crisp and delicious. The pepperoni was a 10/10. My husband is extremely picky with his pizza and hardly likes most places we go to and he LOVED it. If we lived in LA we'd definitely become regulars. Next time we're in town we'll for sure be stopping by again. Also the gentleman working was very nice and friendly.

Originally just came to grab a soda of on my break, it smelled good so i bought a pizza slice, and they threw in an extra one 😎

Great pizza place if you find yourself in silver lake. They also have a south pas location. The outdoor area is really nice with plantings.

Pizza and service was excellent! Great location with convenient parking. Outdoor dining or take out. Ordered a few combinations of pizza pie and sliced pizza.

Great pizza spot in the heart of Silverlake. Seating is small inside with only a couple of tables, and parking can be a bit tough when busy, but usually it's not a problem. They have a back section too for outside seating. The food is great. You can see the kitchen and ovens from the seating area and they have a display case if you want to order a slice of any of their pizzas. Pasta, salads and sandwiches are also offered. The staff are great and super nice.... Huge plus there. One occasion I ordered two slices of NY style cheese, a newer one had come out about 5 minutes after and they threw in 2 more slices for free. This type of service goes a long way with me and they didn't have to do it, but goes to show you the care they give you when you come to their location. Keep up the great food!

I'm not gluten free, but i love their gluten free crust

If you're not a vegetarian get the butcher. Trust me. And if you are... Well I'm positive that they have something for you too. It's usually not that packed. But you will wait a bit since they make it when you order it. They have delicious slices of cake too. Always a happy stomach when I leave Tomato Pie. Enjoy.

First, Tomato Pie makes great “ny style” pizza, but I come here for their namesake, “tomato pie”. For those of us living in LA, finding good pizza can be challenging, but to find authentic tomato pie, from upstate NY, is pure gold. If you’re not familiar with tomato pie, do yourself a favor and come try. If you want to experience like a native upstate New Yorker, it’s like vengeance and best served cold😜👍🏽⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ok so i came here after going to the gym (don’t judge pls) and got a cheese slice and some other one and it hit lemme tell you. This might just be one of my favorite spots in LA now. The staff is super nice too. Pls swing by

Not just some of the best pizza I've had in LA, but some of the best pizza I've had in general. Cheap delivery fee ($3-5 I believe) and the pizza is always hot when it arrives. Always had amazing service here too! Dine in or delivery is always a winner here.

They sell whole pizzas & also sell by the slice. I ordered 1 slice of one type of pizza then wound up going back for another slice. I forgot the name of the 1st slice, I just know that it had cheese, chicken & some kind of buffalo ranch sauce as well as maybe garlic. The 2nd slice was pepperoni & cheese, both were very flavorful as well as delicious😋.
