Very clean establishment. You definitely don't get the same feeling here as you would in a regular hospital.

If I could give 0 stars I would. My teen daughter was offered what was meant to be bi weekly individual therapy. At best, she was seen every 6 weeks. It was during Covid so we had few options and the therapist even told her he was still in school. Desperate times, you know. It was, according to her, “useless”. So last year when my teen son needed mental health care, he was offered group therapy. No thanks. So we pay out of pocket to see someone out of network. He needs medication so we tried Kaiser again. I called in January 2024 to request an appt with a psychiatrist. It took 4 weeks to get the first appt with psychiatrist. She said she needed to do another session before she could prescribe anything. Her next appointment was 4 weeks later. Ok, we took it. My son had a school presentation he could not miss (cause you know they only have weekday appointments which is super convenient for high school students) so we called to reschedule. Next appointment is in another 4 weeks. So again I go out of Kaiser and am able to get an appointment with a psychiatrist less than 48 hours after contacting them (I think part of why we got in quickly is because he was appalled at how long Kaiser had made us wait already considering we have a diagnosis from a non Kaiser Dr ). And now I just found out that Kaiser will not even cover the prescription this doctor has written without a referral from Kaiser. I’m done with Kaiser completely. It’s a shame because I really like my medical doctors, but Kaiser’s mental health services are so inadequate that I can no longer afford to stay with Kaiser.

I've been a Kaiser member for 15 years and it's been horrifying to watch them completely dismantle a robust mental health and education department that had groups, classes and individual therapy. We are now offered apps (or "trials" of apps), medication with very little oversight, discounts on "wellness" products, and a myriad of shallow videos. They should be fined by the California Department of Insurance. I mean, personally fine the high paid executives who are in love with slick advertising, showing up at Chase Center for NBA games, and could care less about the health of anyone enrolled in a Kaiser Plan.
It's disgusting.

I found the San Rafael Mental Health Department incompetent! My daughter just started having real issues and I am quickly learning that Kaiser is NOT prepared to deal with someone who is struggling in a meaningful way. I'm not sure if it is my daughter's specific therapist that is the issue or Kaiser, as a whole. All I can say is, it has been a god awful experience.

These people have been completely unresponsive so far. I had an urgent mental health issue - they set me up for a therapist 3 weeks out and when I went there this person told me to go to a class, instead of providing any kind of service.

I made the comment above when I had to deal with heavy cPTSD onset. I feel that I have been through almost all of it. I had to deal with the condition out of pocket - individual therapy was not available at this location. Also had no luck with Kaiser in SF. When I filed a complaint with Kaiser they changed my account of what happened in their review. Kaiser mental health services may help some people, but it was useless for me, except to get sleeping meds. I did find help elsewhere and I am grateful for the help I did receive.

The kaiser staff at this location made me feel like they had little concern for my family as patients. The representative was rude, obnoxious, and un-professional. They were extremely uncooperative in helping determine when we needed to pick someone up after an appointment. I will only book another doctor appointment at this location as a last resort. They definitely don't have that personal touch here at this location.
