New China Cafe

New China Cafe is that delicious hole in the wall restaurant. We have been going for years. Great people, service, food, & location(downtown). Their honey walnut shrimp is one of my go to items. Delicious!

The establishment looks a little run-down on the outside. However the food and customer service is very good. Great Chinese food restaurant.

Earlier today around the late afternoon, my friend and I went to eat lunch because my friend had someone from their work recommend the place to him and we went. The food was great and reminded me of my mother's cooking. Their staffs were welcoming and friendly and are able to chat with them. I would definitely come here again and try other dishes they have.

The food was delicious and fresh. Best noodles I have had in years! The restaurant itself is older but don’t be fooled by the looks. Fresh made noodles and huge portions for your money. The staff is also very kind.

This restaurant is in an old neighborhood and looks run down. The mens' room is dirty and smells bad.
Now, the important stuff. Food is excellent and portions are large. All appetizers are meal-sized. Especially recommend the pot stickers, which come with a SPICY chili sweet and sour sauce, and the chicken and broccoli, which simply tasted good. Service is a bit slow but atmosphere is friendly enough. Recommended.

I don't care what anyone says, I love this place. Love their chow fun dishes. Actually, for a decent Chinese plate of food that gives you that comfort feeling. New China Cafe, is it. I've been coming here for years and have not had a bad experience that I can remember.

This was the second time going to this restaurant, the employees are super nice.
The food is so good, I usually never finish a whole plate, but the two times I've been here, I do finish it. I highly recommend it here 😋🤌👌

Homemade noodles made daily. They're super soft and delicious.

Got the lemon chicken special and spicy pork special (both pictured) and a pot of hot tea. Hit the spot, a lot of food!

Omg this is one of The best Chinese food ever! And believe me, I eat out a lot. Not only is the food fantastic but the the staff is just as great, from front to back...they're all very pleasant here (unlike other local Chinese food places). We come here every time we come to town. So glad we found you. We love you! Keep up the good work!

We just moved to Merced not long ago and this is By Far My favorite place to have Chinese food. Service is great and food is very good and Authentic

Food was great as usual with exception of the rice. Too much water got it a little mushy.

The food tasted well seasoned and sauced. The fried noodles were great. My kids loved the orange chicken. We ate at the round table and got some entrees to share. There was more than enough for everyone. Two got a combo meal. There was tons of food on the plate, but not too much.

I'd heard of this little hole-in-the-wall recently and was hooked by the fact they made their own noodles, apparently being known for their crispy noodles and egg foo young, two of my favorite dishes when done right. Let me tell you, New China Cafe does both of them right, heck, more than right; they were both amazing!

The small restaurant was doing good business at about 5 p.m. on a Friday; while not packed, it was always steady and always loaded with locals, a great sign in my book.

The crispy noodles were tender and the perfect compliment to a little sauce or gravy that comes with their other dishes on the menu (like the Egg fou young) or the bean sprouts and meat if you get them as the noodles in your chow mein. They are beyond good; I think I could eat multiple orders all by myself. (10/10)

The Egg Foo Young is also amazing. The order comes with three perfectly sized patties, and the veggies are chopped extremely small and cooked until soft, just the way I like them. It's very difficult to find Egg Foo Young prepared this way. If anyone is familiar with the old Wong's Takeout on Tully Road in Modesto, this is as close as you can get. (10/10)

We also got wonton soup., which was simple with a delicious broth, bok choy, and pork wontons. As mentioned, the broth was delicious, light and flavorful. The wontons were really good, a little dense, but the meat in them was wonderful with a touch of sweetness. Really good. (10/10)

The rest of our meal consisted of Chicken Chow Fun, Beef and Broccoli, Sweat and Sour Pork, and Honey Walnut Shrimp. None of these dishes were the best I've ever had, but they were all very good, with the Chow Fun, Shrimp, and Beef and Broccoli being a 7.5/10 and the Sweat and Sour Pork a 6/10 (it was a bit overcooked and therefore drier then it should have been. If it were cooked to a better temp, it would easily be a 7-8/10; the honey walnut shrimp would gain a point also for this reason.

The service is VERY good! Everyone was very kind and helpful. It was a wonderful meal, and somewhere we'll definitely make the 45-minute drive for again.

Best Chinese spot in Merced CA. I wouldn't recommend going to any other places I've tried them all but this spot is #1!!!!!!! The proportions of food are very large I usually have to get a to go box every time. Also the staff is very very sweet and kind they even come and check on you to see if you are satisfied unlike other restaurants. This place is definitely 10/10 definitely come stop in and try the food out you will be very very satisfied.

This place has the best Chinese food outside of China! 10/10 everytime!
