H & W Drive-In

I would consider myself a tuna sandwich expert. I’ve tried many different tuna sandwiches across the years but nothing will ever compare to the tuna sub from H&W. I don’t know what they put in it but the tuna tastes different, fresh, flavorful,etc. The bread is fresh and crunchy. The pickles and tomatoes are juicy. It is without a doubt the best tuna sandwich I’ve ever had If not the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. Don’t get me started on the fries. Arguably the best fries I’ve ever tried. Usually I get the pineapple shake but today I tried a strawberry shake and even that tasted amazing. What can’t they do right?

I read a review that said everything here had wonderful flavor. I second that! The food was spot on. Real old school diner flavor and quality. Not overly greasy just good comfort food. We enjoyed our food so much we got fries with ranch (best ranch ever) and a root beer float to go and regretted not getting two. We shared ;) I can't wait for an opportunity to go back. We are from LV. :( It's worth the wait, you won't regret it.

This place is by far my most favorite burger place! We ordered 2 avocado cheese burgers, and they were delicious! 🤌 Very well cooked. And I also ordered 2 shakes. One was a chocolate shake and the other one was vanilla. Everything had a delicious taste. I will be coming back very soon 👌 I highly recommend this place.

Really enjoyed the homemade root beer! It is smooth and so good with the creamy vanilla ice cream. Caramel banana shake was also delicious and not too sweet.

Love everything about it! Amazing food for an amazing price. Ordered a tuna sub and was expecting an average size sandwich but it was huge! The cheese fries taste great as well, just look at that cheesiness😍 great spot to hang out with friends and even dine in with family 💛

Always our 'go-to' for a great burger! The root beer floats are great too! The atmosphere is always busy because it's great food, and the service is 👍 wonderful!!

First time going here and it was amazing, much like the other reviews I definitely plan on coming back.
The prices weren't too bad and the horchata and the root beer float along with the double bacon cheese burger meal with the French burger with bacon was super good.
The fries and ranch dressing was excellent, I also tried to take close and clear pictures of the menu because there wasn't any pictures that were very easy to read

Great burger definitely way better than fast food and the fries are nice and crunchy recommend!!

Such a good pastrami and good philly cheesesteak. Great price and the roll was so yummy. Chili fries, onion rings, chocolate shake and rootbeer freeze were delicious as well so we’re both super happy!

Food is delicious! I last had the guacamole burger meal with a root beer float. It was absolutely delicious! I'd definitely come back.

I’ve been a patron for H&W for 25 years and it’s still a favorite. Everyone is welcoming and the staff is very friendly. It can get busy, but the staff is still attentive. Fries are the best!

*Local Treasure!* The employees are so nice. I actually don't understand how they are SO nice! The food is GOOOOOOOOD! Super fun place to go and hang out in your car and eat. True small town drive-in experience. Pictures are of the view from H & dub. If you haven't experienced this downtown Merced treasure, you should. My husband says: Try the Big Dave. It will tickle your mouth. Just kidding, he says he was joking about that. But not joking about the Big Dave--it is good!

They were pretty busy and it was 106° out, so I do not envy having to run back and forth between the cars and the hot kitchen and the delay was understandable -- kudos to the H&W team! On a hot day like today, Orange Freezes and some fries were the way to go! My son and I have never had them until today, and it's safe to say we'll be coming back for more!! My son loved the seasoning on the crinkle fries and I loved how the Orange Freeze was like a 50/50 bar in a cup!

H& W. Is not your typical hamburger joint. They have the old fashioned pull up service for the waitresses come to your window to take your order. They also have a nice outdoor.

I don’t care what no one says. H & W has very good food and the good memories I have of this place. I used to go here with my family all the time growing up. I’m an adult now. I’m so happy to see they still have it up going to have to make a trip down here soon

Been going here since I was a kid, love the family friendly vibe and the well prepared food!

This is one of my favorite places in Merced to eat. Everything is always fresh and taste amazing. The drive up is my favorite don’t even have to get out the car. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food.
