We had cottage pie and George III’s steak and mushroom pie, they were both so good but especially the latter one was amazing. The service and atmosphere is also pretty nice. The only thing that I did not enjoy was the veggies on the side as they had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. We also had the garlic bread and they gave us even extra sauce, it was pretty good.

Incredibly friendly staff and delicious vegan food options - just ask for the vegan menu! Good beer on tap as well and they certainly nailed that pub vibe.

The vegan curry chips were amazing. I'm drooling just thinking of them as I write this review.

Very nice British Pub convenient to downtown. Very professional and helpful staff with a nice mix of local patrons who welcome we travelers. If you’re lucky you’ll come in when the owner Tony is in. He defected from Great Britain in 1984! 😎

A perfect 5-star experience! The place looks like a pirate ship, which is really cool. Juvann helped us pick our food quickly and suggested some great dishes. The food was the best I've ever had. An amazing visit all around!

Visited on a Saturday evening and seated at a table near the bar. Such a fun, heavily decorated English style pub - enjoyed the atmosphere!

Ordrerd a spicy margarita, hot buttered rum, and several beers - all tasty. Ordered the corned beef and cabbage plus some thick cut chips (fries) - all enjoyable. Service was friendly and prompt, and the place became quite crowded by the end of the night. Would recommend for a fun night out.

Definitely a hidden gem! large servings and the price is really affordable. The food is delicious which really surprised me becaude I wasn't expecting it. I had the mushroom and beef pot pie with veggies and mashed potato. It was so delicious for dessert I had the toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream which i believe is homemade, with homemade whipped cream... definitely going back again!

This place is a hidden treasure! We had great service and the food all tasted awesome. The portions were good size and the prices were pretty affordable. Our service staff was so friendly and checked in with us multiple times to make sure everything was tasting great. Would definitely come here again.

Awesome place and kid friendly. We were able to sit in the back and bring in our stroller. They had a children’s menu and we got fenomenal service. We got a the fish and chips (2 piece) and it was a big portion. The hubby got the Plymouth platter and we could have both shared that plate, plenty of food!

The Sole with shrimp & crabmeat special was fresh and delectable! The grilled asparagus was grilled to perfection. The potatoes and bread were so very scrumptious that it was a challenge for me to only indulge in a few bites. Staff was friendly and attentive. My brother had the meatloaf. When it was served, it appeared as if he had the entire pan of meatloaf on his plate. His personal review was a complete rave of how light the meatloaf was. He also noted the gravy; served on the side, was light liken a sauce verses a thick heavy gravy. Added the distinctive perfect compliment to the meat as well as the potatoes.

What a place! We stopped in here for a quick dinner after an unexpected overnight stop in Monterey. This place has it all!! Great servers, really cool decor and atmosphere, and the food…. Chefs kiss!!

We split some fried artichoke hearts, that came on a plate and was a small mountain of them. Hot, crispy and just perfect! We shared a crab and shrimp sandwich as well as the brisket with Mac and cheese. Everything was better than the last dish. The Mac was homemade from scratch, the brisket was full of flavor, and the crab and shrimp sandwich was perfect for two!! Everything came to the table piping hot and we could not have asked for a better meal.

You won’t be disappointed here!

This place has some of the most wonderful pub food I've had in a while. We stumbled across this place on our drive up to SF and could not be more pleasantly surprised. The decor while a little cluttered feels somehow well designed at the same time. It's definitely worth the time out to just check it out. I'd recommend the chili cheese wedges. I've never had something so wonderful.

You can get food from their whole menu late here, and it's fantastic and affordable! The food is always delicious. The place is usually full, and has a lot of energy, and we still felt like the people at the bar were not intrusive to our super late 10pm dinner. I was happy to have a big selection of big British beers. The atmosphere was super fun and spunky and our waiter was the best.

I really enjoyed my food here, as did the rest of my party. I kinda wish they had some more beer options, with 3 breweries in stone throwing distance, but they are an English Pub, so I guess that's how it goes.

Things I ate:
Curry Fries = These are super good, lots of flavor and a little spice
Shepherd's Pie = Pretty solid I thought. Mashed potatoes had great tastes in them
Sticky Toffee Pudding = Super good, would eat again :)

Also has a solid Gluten Free Menu!

Prawns (starter) tasted great! Nice atmosphere! Probably went too late and the staff was in a hurry to collect the plates.

What best part of Crown & Anchor? The atmosphere or the food? Hard to decide. There both great! We had great service by our waitress!! The food is traditional like my fish and chips (perfectly cooked!), my friend had lamb shanks he said it was delicious too! The dessert, Oh My!! I had Almond tort with a berry topping unbelievably delectable. They had a great assortment NY cheesecake, chocolate lava cake, and egg nog cheesecake & more that were perfect too! The atmosphere it's like museum in there on the walls and every nook and cranny filled with British artifacts, and art.

Phenomenal place to eat!the food really makes you feel like your grandma made it especially the deserts! I had the chicken pot pie meal with mashed potatoes and vegetables highly recommend! My fiance had the roast beef meal and it was cooked to tender perfection! The deserts are all homemade, ours was a berry pie. The atmosphere is so cool feels like you're eating inside of an Old English ship. They also have a full bar with seasonal cocktails!

This is a beautiful British pub and restaurant that is owned by a charming British gentleman and his lovely wife. The food is authentically British, freshly prepared, and oh so delicious! My husband and I had the joy of meeting the owners, Tony and Sarah, which made our first visit a very special one. Nautical decor including model sailing ships, old world maps, and even a life size British marine create an ambiance that makes one feel like they have traveled back in time to an old English pub. My husband ordered a beef pie and I ordered a chicken one. We have had meat pies in England, but the pies we ate here were even better! We can't wait to come back when we visit Monterey! My wife and I went for an early dinner. It wasn’t busy at all. I had the cottage pie and my wife had the fish and chips. Both meals were absolutely delicious! For dessert my wife had the sticky toffee pudding and had the pear and peach pie. They were both wonderful but try the toffee pudding. The wait staff was a lot of fun.

An awesome bar and restaurant with some of the best decor I have ever seen! The atmosphere was great and the food even better. Great clam chowder and the fish and chips were the best I've ever had. Perfect crisp crust and the fish inside and flaky and fall apart.

This place is fun with a great British pub atmosphere. Great friendly service. If based only on the food I would have given this 4 stars but the service and friendliness of staff brought it up. However the food is very good and I enjoyed the Steak and Mushroom pie!
