Piazza Del Dotto Winery & Caves

A neighbor who is a member of Del Dotto took us there for a tasting and lunch today. What a wonderful experience. Kendall took us on a cave and barrel tasting tour and included lots of history and growing information as well as a 3 step tasting tip that none of us had ever heard before. We then had lunch in the court yard. What an amazing day.

We did the cave experience and tour. Vinny was our guide and he was absolutely amazing!! We visited 6 wineries on our trip and our whole group agreed this was our favorite. The tour was a great length, wine was amazing, and the pizza in the garden was the perfect touch! I highly recommend this place if you are in the area!!

It was a beautiful tour, walking on the grounds inside of the mountain felt like you had been transported to Italy. The tour guide was informative, and the after-your pizza and tomatoes were incredibly delicious

The wine and food pairing experience is amazing! The cave tour is a feast for the eyes. The stone walls, the mosaic floor, the paintings on ceilings and overall ambience with the music is a must try. The patio and gardens are beautiful as well and very enjoyable with heat lamps on a cold day. The food is beyond delicious and very well presented.

I've learned that it really matters who conducts your tour, and boy did we luck out with ROSANNE! She was an amazing host who shared her love of the piazzo, her knowledge and enthusiasm. This is the best wine I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The wine tapped from the barrels in the caves are utterly amazing. Once done with the barrel tastings, we were lead out to a stunning garden patio, where we enjoyed delectable pizza, Tater tots, and more wine! We were able to walk the grounds and experience the stunning gardens and statues. So unforgettable, unbelievably beautiful! If you have the opportunity to go here, do not pass this up! I will most definitely be back.

The tour is the most informative and unique tasting in Napa. The wine flowed generously. The tasting was close to two hours. Everything considered this tour is pricier than some others but is the best value around. The courtyard is beautifully constructed with statues and flowers and there are even some peacocks on the property.

Wine with the food pairing were ridiculously good. I HIGHLY recommend the food pairing. The chef needs his own restaurant. The food was sooooo good. Can't give a high enough rating for the food. The wine is great also, but the food wins the day.

Amazing information...stories...beautiful layout and more wine tasting than others in the area. You sample from the barrel and not from the bottles so if you like what you drink they have to send it in the mail after purchase...way way worth the money...one of the best in the area.

We made a last minute reservation for a wine and food tasting. We had a wonderful experience. The food and the wines were excellent. I enjoyed the opportunity to experience the wine taste before and after tasting the food. They were also very accommodating on food variations (e.g. alternatives to the seafood menu items). It was delicious and I'd recommend this if you get the chance.

Amazing venue, world class wine and top notch service! These are big cabernets so make it your final tasting of the day, otherwise tasting after Del Dotto will be disappointing as your pallet will be done. This Piazza location is one of the most expensive wineries in Napa with all the materials, scull, art coming from Italy. The wine barrels tasting is phenomenal. While most are cabernets they do have Zins. Pinots, and sangiovese but save your sobriety for the cabernets. If you’re lucky and on a tour with VIP members you’ll tasting their big cabs behind the curtain. Villa Delago is Pritchard Hill and known as the Beauty. Their Villa Delago tasting location is still under development. The Beast is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from all of their Estate Vineyard. The Beauty, Beast, 887, St Helena and the David are some of the best wines in Napa. Following the tasting you’ll enjoy pizza and salumi in the garden area. VIPs also get their famous tater tots. Overall, an amazing wine tasting experience.

Truly the best vineyard we toured in Napa. The cave experience and barrel tasting was awesome. Our guide Oscar was very knowledgable, the wines we tried were spectacular and the grounds were beautiful. Definately recomended!

The Tres Amigas Wine Trip of 2021 included this winery and we all highly recommend it! We toured quite a few wineries in our four days in Napa Valley and this was one of our favorites. We tasted wine straight from the barrels - he used a glass "thief" instrument to get it out of the barrel. We learned so much from our wine guide. For some reason, I could remember the facts this fella told us, whereas I typically get overloaded with facts and can't remember later on. Maybe because they had these little cards for each barrel we sampled that listed the important information about the wine and I wrote my own notes from what he was telling us. My friends seem really impressed with my knowledge now! Ha! After the cave tour we were seated on a beautiful patio and served a fabulous wood fired pizza. The entire experience was worth every cent. I purchased two bottles that will be sent to me later one due to the hot summer weather now and the fact that they need to age a bit more. Do NOT miss this winery!

Truly a great experience! Jonathan was very knowledgeable. We did the cave tour tasting straight out of the barrels, with pizza included at end. The wines were excellent and the place is only getting better with the plans they have. This place is coming up!

Another great experience at Del Dotto!! This is the second Del Dotto Winery we have visited, the first was in Napa. We just love their wine and have bought 6 bottles of the American Oak Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. We also tried their 2020 Piazza Del Dotto Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley at only $30 a bottle and it was the best we ever had! If you go to Napa Valley Del Dotto is a Must Do!

We did the delicacies tour with Rosanne. It was amazing and the three in our group left extremely happy (and a bit tipsy tbh). The tour starts in the new caves. Extravagant Italian decorations and delicious wines across ages in many types of barrels. Afterward a five or six course (can’t remember) tasting with paired wines that is made by a master chef who apprenticed at some of the famous restaurants in the area (like French Laundry etc.). Awesome wine - it actually sort of ruined me for a few weeks where I didn’t want to drink anything that wasn’t as nice.

I would recommend this tour for those who want to really “talk” about wine. It may not be a great tour for bringing in casual out of town guests or to do a passive first time in Napa. It’s long and relaxed and you talk in depth about the qualities in the different barrels, the terroir of different vineyards, the qualities of different grapes and blends...it’s definitely but awesomely highbrow. I have been to other vineyards where the tour is more geared toward first timers who want to see the mechanics of wine making (eg this machine then labels the bottle like this...). This tour is more about discussing tastes, notes, side by side preferences, and pairings.

Have someone else drive you so you can enjoy. This is on the pricey side $175 but it is the most fantastic tasting I have ever done, and I did it with people I care about who also care about food and wine, so we had a blast.

On our guide, Rosanne. So warm and knowledgeable. She mirrored our energy and she shared many of her own reflections about food and wine. We greatly enjoyed it, in large part due to her patient answering of our questions and her obvious enthusiasm about wines!

Fantastic wine, gorgeous garden, delicious bites, friendly knowledgeable staff. Next time I'll do the full paired tasting, I have no doubt it's worth the extra money based on the experience I had. Definitely recommend, worth a stop for an out of town looking for a decadent, very "Napa Valley", winery experience! - @NapaValleyBean

Beautiful gardens surrounding this winery. The wine tasting and tour occurs inside the caves. Pretty unique experience tasting directly from the barrels. The tasting even includes brick oven pizza.

What a fun experience!!!! Our guide Doug was THE BEST. He imparted so much knowledge about wine and the wine making process. Wood fired pizza and tater tots to end the tour— DELICIOUS!
