American Lake Park

Love this place! Always fun and a chill environment. It can use more cleaning up but that also goes for the people that go there they need to pick up after themselves. My kids love it and the water always looks clean compared to other lakes around here.

Absolutely Beautiful! It's small and secluded.
The swimming aspect is good for babies to strong swimmers.
There are picnic tables, a small beach, & grassy areas.

I love this area the water is nice and clear and there's lots of shade areas.

My Husband and I enjoy bringing our little ones here. Family friendly and kid friendly who can argue with that? Definitely a good place for swimming. Would highly recommend. My 19 month old loves it here ❤

This is a nice, clean lake with facilities. I love to bring my kayak here to explore the different areas while watching bald eagles catch fish. It is a well used community park with swimming and space to hang out with friends and bbq.

American Lake is the gem of Lakewood. And it's accessible via this park and the excellent boat launch next door.
The park itself is small but offers a children's playground, picnic shelter, picnic tables, a swimming area and ADA accessible restrooms.
It can get very crowded on warm summer weekends so plan accordingly.

Great little lake for an evening sunset cruise. Drop anchor in the cove, play some music, and have a picnic dinner. Perfect night.

Love taking my kids here to swim. Life guards are very strict about kids passing swim test before being allowed past ropes. Great place to BBQ with friends and family.

Nice park with a playground, bathrooms and tables. Lots of trees so the grass area is totally shaded. There is a large swimming area for the lake as well as a boat launch area.

Had a wonderful time wake boarding. The lake was calm. Miinimal boats out on the lake. The park was clean with few visitors. Upon leaving the lake there were a handful of people swimming in the designated area. Great place to picnic, boat or fish. I highly recommend it.

Tiny park with a huge view. Even though it was way too cool for me to even think about swimming, there were lifeguards on duty. At the end of one pier a man sat fishing, and boats were occasionally launching. It was a calm, cloudy and peaceful day.

Grew up on American Lake. Did a lot of skiing and have great memories 👍

I always come to american lake to clear my head and take my son there to play too its a great park. A year ago i had my birthday party at this lake its just so peaceful and relaxing!

Wonderful park to swim in! I go throughout the winter and summer. The beach is a bit rocky, but there is a nice grassy null. In the summer there's a lifeguard on duty and a rope blocking off a safe swim section. Winter is peaceful and empty if you're looking for a good place to take a cold dip. Highly recommend this park!

Count yourself lucky if this is your local community park. While there I saw 2 osprey and a bald eagle. Mt. Rainer is visible in clear days.

An absolutely beautiful park! As a veteran, it's easy to forget the beauty of the country we served when dealing with health issues.
American Lake suits at the entrance to the VA clinics just down the street. It's a wonderful view to unwind after a Dr's appointment.

My daughter and I love this park. Beautiful views, playground, beach. It's great.

Shady and sun spots. Enough spaces to claim a spot even on weekends. Grass and sand. Safe swimming for kids and babies. Bring water toys and floats. Rocky in some parts: wear sandals or water socks if swimming and even on hot beach rocks and sand. Dock jumping with ladder. Ice cream man comes multiple times in a day. Allowed to set up sun tents and umbrellas

We put MR. BASS BOAT in the water first time since purchasing it from Nixon Marine Boat Sales in Tacoma.Beautiful March Day on American Lake. This Park is so nice. Old Timers launch early AM. Avoid weekends.
