Paris Bakery Cafe

I ordered coffee.. which was good, but not stirred. Had I known I would have stirred myself to avoid the not sweet enough top and to sweet bottom. Lol
Baked goods.. pastries and goodies looked delicious. I’ll be going back when I’m hungry. :)

This down-to-earth cafe place has amazing baked goods and coffee. I love how local and simple this place is. Just a sip of black coffee over strawberry pastry already made my day here in Monterey. There are so many types of pastries that I need to try. Definitely come back again!

Yummy treats in a quaint corner cafe. Staff was super busy but stayed super friendly.

We dined in and I ate a cup of French Onion Soup that was flavorful, fresh, and just the perfect amount of cheese to soup ratio. My husband enjoyed his ham & cheese quiche. Both were just the right size for our lunch - filling but not overwhelming.

We both had a satisfying iced latte that we took with us along with some pastries to eat back in our hotel. The strawberry was fresh, juicy, sweet and perfect. The seasonal min pumpkin cake was a tiny bit dry but the soft pumpkin mousse counteracted it for a wonderful season treat.

Will be coming back again next time we are in town.

The Best Pastry shop in Monterey!!! The display cases are full of delicious goodies!!! Specialty cakes, cookies, croissants, single serving cake slices, pastries, fresh breads! They also serve sandwiches, soups including clam chowder, deli sides, salads, cafe drinks, etc. My favorites are raspberry croissant and Eiffel Tower cookies!!! One of my must-have stops when I'm in Monterey!!!

Their is a secret to this place. The owner and head baker is a real french pastry chef trained in France and his pastries show it. They are absolutely top notch! I just spent 10 days in paris and I ate at several boulangeries and I can honestly say that none of them were better than my favorite place in monterey. Not one.

Very nice. I've been going here for over 20 years. My favorite bakery when I lived in Monterey. Now I drive from the Bay area just for their almond croissants on a regular basis.

This was a bakery that was walking distance from our hotel. They had all kinds of delicious pastries, so good. Thy also had quiches which were great for breakfast

DECEMBER 2016 - Delicious food. Ask about the soup of the day! When I went, it was tortilla soup. The lady at the counter let me sample it and it was delish! They have a huge selection of desserts. You'll say that you want one of each! 😉 When I went, the restaurant was very hot inside, so I sat outside even though there was seating inside. Sometimes the shop gets really busy so there are long lines. Would come back again.

DECEMBER 2018 - Of course I came back again. :) This time the soup of the day was Cream of Broccoli Soup. I ordered the bowl size, but they didn't have enough to fill the bowl, so they let me choose a free cookie, so I chose a chocolate meringue. I like how they take this into account. (Although I thought the bowl was pretty full, I'm not declining a free cookie!) The soup (or all of their soups in general) comes with a nice piece of bread-awesome for dipping in the soup! The meringue was not as light and airy as I expected it to be. It has a strong chocolate flavor, which is nice, but it is extremely dense inside, so it doesn't melt in your mouth (you actually have to bite it.) - see photo. It's still pretty hot inside the cafe, especially when the sun shines through the window.

Prior to this review edit, I went to the cafe again in April 2018. The soup of the day was Tortilla Soup (yes, again!). Just as good as I remembered it to be. :)

I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but there are vegetarian options like the Veggie Delight sandwich. In addition, the customer service is amazing, but there is no free wifi.

These croissants were amazing. So light and fluffy and the pain de chocolat was so delish! Loved every bite!

I put 5 starts simply because there’s nothing better around. However, this place does have good sandwiches and decent pastry selection.
My favorite sandwiches are Cordon Blue and Veggie Delight. Out of the cake section, Black Forest is the best cake they have 🤤

These almond croissant is as good as when we were in Paris. So good. I came back here every morning that I stayed here.

Delicious treats and wonderful service. Very popular place. At times it’s very busy but you can call ahead and make an order or ask them to save you a specific item. I highly recommend this place.

This is a Monterey institution at this point. Local to the region and supplies many restaurants with their bread. The Café that is downtown in Monterey has amazing pastries, cakes, and cookies. If you are ever downtown it is worth the trip over to get a baked good to go or eat in. They also have portion sizes that are great for kids to make them feel like they are getting their own cake, pie or desert.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would!! I came in with my daughter before we walked down to the waterfront. She loves all French food and was so excited to see all the options they had. Their staff were busy but one of them, Drew, helped my daughter pick out a dozen cookies and talked with her the entire time while we waited to check out and pay. He was so welcoming and kind and helped us with the whole process like an expert. The food was delicious and they had great coffee and great service! Wonderful place overall!

The best all round bakery there is, bread, pastries, coffee, anything you get here is very good and there is alot to choose from. Great for breakfast or for grabbing some snacks and hitting Big Sur with.

We go every year. My husband grew up in Monterey/Seaside and says it hasn't changed. I love going to Paris bakery for the pastries and the coffee!!!

Very lovely place. It's a small cafe so when it gets busy it gets packed and fast. I got a simple croissant with ham, cheese and lettuce with a chai latte. The sandwich was so refreshing, simple and delicious. The chai latte was such a warm comforting drink I was eager to drink. It was nice counterpart. I look forward to trying more of their food in the future.

Definitely a hidden gem! My family always makes a stop here whenever we’re visiting Monterey. Everyone’s so kind and everything here is great value.

Simply a gem! This is a pic from last month, but today I noticed just how much is on the menu. Pizza, sandwiches, quiches, and the coffee/tea is stellar. The brioche custards are a must, but everything I've had is top level.
