This is a review for a 2 star hotel. It was clean with all the amenities a girl needs, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair dryer, iron. The hot chocolate was a plus since we don't drink coffee. Close to the beach and shops. Perfect for a pit stop and refresh prior to hitting the road again. Would recommend.

I've stayed here twice. It's nothing fancy, but it was comfortable and did the trick. There was a family above us one of the times that were incredibly noisy with the kids running back and forth late at night when we were trying to sleep. It wouldn't hurt to try to get a room on the second floor. Parking is free. It's easy to walk to the warf from the hotel. It's a short Uber to Cannery Row and downtown. Some months the price is excellent and others it's high, but that's consistent across all of the hotels in Monterey. If you go in early spring, the pricing is great.

Great reasonably priced (around $170 USD) room located near the heart of town.
OVERALL: Would recommend if looking for a few nights - we were driving through, so chose it to rest at for a few hours before getting back on the road. For a 2 star hotel it's great.

What a gem. Yes the rooms are a bit small but honestly how much time do you spend in the room with such a beautiful area to explore. Thank you Vince for recommending a great place for breakfast and being a wonderful host. WWill definitely be staying here for future trips🥰🥰

Our family (2 adults and 1 child) stayed at the Monterey Bay Lodge for two nights in October 2023. I wish we could have stayed much longer. We were greeted by friendly staff at check in. Our room was spacious with two comfortable beds on the second floor. The bathroom had the neatest bathtub - I think they call them a 'princess tub'. My husband loved the water pressure. I liked that the mirror and sink were in the room instead of the bathroom. There was a fridge and microwave for use as well. The sliding door lets you out onto a shared patio that faces the pool. We LOVED the pool. I think it was heated and it was such a treat for us Canadians to swim outside in the middle of October. Also the pool open late. The courtyard is also very charming with lights strung through the trees and two fire pits to sit by and chat. The location was really unbeatable - right across the road from the ocean and steps away from the Denise the Menace park - a big hit with our kid. There is a gas station seconds away and a fast food place right down the road. It was only a few minutes drive to the aquarium and super close to Pacific Grove (where our family lives). It truly felt like a motel experience from a bygone area where families would go on road trips for their vacations and stay at motels like this one. The only thing I didn't realise when booking is that they don't have air conditioning. It wasn't that big of a deal in the fall but not sure how that would fare in the summer. Otherwise I can't wait to stay there again! Thanks for a wonderful experience

I loved this place.
Affordable, clean, comfortable, a warm welcome and nice amenities.
I took a honeymoon trip up the coast, and this was the best value for a hotel the entire trip. I would definitely come back. It’s a few steps from the beach, easy walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf, a 20 minute walk to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. I can’t say enough nice things about this place.

My friends from Germany picked out this motel. I was nervous when I read that they allow pets because I have allergies. But the room was clean. No rugs helped as well. My room (111) was dated, but clean and large. I like how the chest of drawers was also a padded bench. Next to it was a desk, but there was no light. I didn't use the desk. The overstuffed chair was comfy. As was the bed. The layout of the sink area was crowded with the microwave, fridge, ironing board, etc., but I know my friends' room was a different layout. Room 111 is great for one person, not more.

There were little extras which were nice: two bottles of water in the fridge; an extension cord on the bedside table with extra electrical outlets and USB ports; a small safe that was easy to use.

The grounds had beautiful flowers. My friend was at the pool but I did not use it. We were going to sit by one of the firepits one evening but there were kids at both of them.

Each evening we'd walk into town for dinner (and one morning for breakfast). This is not a walk for people with mobility issues -- it's over 3/4 of a mile to Alvarado Street. But we enjoyed the walk.

I would gladly stay here again.

Came here for the first time & was blown away with the legendary service from Philip. I had the first night with my dogs, it was awesome because their was a park right across the street from the hotel & also the beach was across the street as well. It was quiet at night & not too busy around town which made it even more nice. Amazing food less than 10min away, the aquarium is 10min away if that & theirs a whole foods less than 10min away. Everyone needs to be here, legendary place

Lovely 2 night stay in Room 125. Room good for a short stay, very clean nice touches left by cleaner. I like the fact it has laminate flooring feels clean. Double bed so bed not as big as some hotels. Bathroom extractor fan the noisiest I've ever experienced. Nice pool area and the hot tub was so warm. Hotel very central for everything. Would recommend.

Wonderful place to stay. It's a few minutes walking distance to the beach, 20 minutes to Fisherman's Wharf and 35 minutes to Cannery Row. Service here was excellent, with receptionists being professional and prompt in their service.

Bed was comfy and I liked how it was close enough to get to the main tourist areas, yet far away enough to relax and be away from the hustle of the highlight spots. Would definitely check it out again should I be in Monterey.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it is absolutely amazing! The beds are super comfortable and the rooms are very cozy and clean. The pool area is very beautiful and the staff was super friendly! We will be staying here for every anniversary ❤ If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. The prices for the rooms are also very reasonable in my opinion.

We loved our stay at the Monterey Lodge! Check-in was easy and parking on site was a breeze. You are so close to everything - 5 minute drive to downtown Monterey and a 10 minute drive to Carmel. The courtyard is adorable and well maintained. Highly recommend staying in this spot for a weekend getaway!

This place is amazing and so are the people who work here. I had another place try to take a picture of my phone for my apple credit card information to stay. I refused and they still charged me without me staying. This place put me in one of their last rooms last minute for an amazing price and saved the day. Y’all are heroes.

Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are okay in terms of size (we stayed one night in a double queen). Also, rooms are well equipped and maintained properly.
If you prefer a quieter room, it might make sense to ask for a room closer to 1st street or park ave (as they are farther away from El Monte.
Vending machines are outdated, but gas station and grocery’s are nearby (in walking distance).

This place was really nice. Everything was actually clean, inspected it with a UV light and everything. Room had a cozy little fireplace and the seating area right outside our room was also adorable. Tree lights and a fire pit? Bruh. Definitely going to be staying here again. It was pretty central to the town, a park with a lake is literally right across the street and if you like avoiding tourist heavy areas like Cannery Row, this is the spot. And it was all surrounded by a clean, safe and quiet neighborhood too.

Awesome for families! Came here for a quick overnight trip and booked a family suite. Very cute upstairs room with vaulted cielings and a separate room for the kids. The website photos do NOT do it justice. There is a very nice pond across the street with paddle boats for rent and a nice path for a walk. and the beach is just to the left across the other way. We will stay here again. Tip: during check in, park on the street do not pull in. Enjoy!
