Monterey Tides

Hotel is currently under renovation until sometime in July. Even with the construction this place is excellent. Right on the beach with modern and clean rooms. The hotel and bar staff are very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is currently being renovated, which was much needed. The current renovations are a fairly large hassle because the main check-in and bar area are closed but the restaurant is open, and of course the construction noise can be loud. However, the new rooms are great and I didn't hear any construction noise while in the rooms. Can't wait until they are completed!

The ocean view is best in Monterey. You litterally have water at your feet. Customer service is world class and super friendly. I was in a new remodel room. Wow! Great price. Only thing, what happen to the self serve bike kiosk from BikeDash ? I can't take my morning ride. You can see dolphin & wales from the rooms. Terrific Experience.

They are under renovation to become a Marriott. I ate at the restaurant on 4th floor overlooking the ocean. Great vibes and very friendly service. Good mussels appetizer portion with such great flavors!! The fireplace was such a good vibe to wind down and watch the sunset.

We stayed 2 nights at this place. Bed was comfortable room was clean. Quite a bit of partying ppl up n down making noise on a weekday. Didn't settle down till well after midnight. Air conditioner didnt work no remote for tv. Basically we just slept a few hours in a comfortable bed. That's about it.

Got to stay here for a week while working in the area and it was better than I expected (originally booked Best Western).
They are currently renovating rooms and construction is going on during the day when I wasn't there.

The location is breathtaking and it's easy to get to.

Front desk and security were very friendly and I look forward to staying here again soon with my children.

I read reviews that the hotel was currently being renovated and that helped with expectations upon arrival. Some reviews almost deterred me, but I'm very glad I continued with the booking and took a chance. The hotel is under new ownership and they are rejuvenating this gem with completely renovated rooms and facilities. They have a renovated restaurant with a bar that overlooks the oceanfront, and a nice fireplace that gives a cozy inviting atmosphere. I didn't get a chance to eat there, but I look forward to it on my next visit. The staff was great, the rooms are clean, cozy, and even had a great fragrance. I loved the updated stylish fixtures and furniture with charge ports. Space was ample for two people and I love that I could still hear the ocean waves while in the room. Their tvs are updated with Chromecast which is great to stream your favorite movie apps from your phone. The hotel is perfectly located with its beach access and a few minutes drive from Monterey's busy side.
I really enjoyed my stay here and look forward to my next visit!

Checked in yesterday for my birthday. When we booked our stay, directly through the hotel, we were not told there was construction taking place. They were working on the other side, so that was ok. This morning at 8am we were woken by construction crew yelling back and forth while they were building more scaffolding … directly in front of our room! It’s a mess! We cut our stay short and checked into another hotel. They charged us $349 for one night and the only thing reimbursed for the inconvenience was our parking!! Ridiculous and we won’t be staying there again.

Don't let the bad reviews scare you away from this place. It's not that bad. We just got back from spending a long weekend there and we really enjoyed the hotel. This hotel is in need of some renovations which they have started at one end of the building. The salt water has taken its toll on the exterior. We paid for an upgraded room (which I heard the rooms on the 3rd and 4th floor are a little bit nicer. Our room was clean and everything worked. The customer service was very good. The restaurant was very good but not a lot of seafood on the menu. I had the salmon and it was amazing. The best thing about this place is the view and beach front property. We would definitely return.

Excellent Hotel, restaurant, and bar right the beach. Excellent prices, amenities and service. Buy a kite, firewood and s’more kit and take a yoga class. Pool is clean and heated with a jacuzzi. In room coffee, fridge and safe. Pics I’ve posted say the same. I saved a hundred a night for no beach view. The garden area and pool area was fine with me as I didn’t stay smack dab on the beach to stay in my room. Worth it! Did I mention it’s dog friendly and clean. Free electric vehicle charger with paid parking. Someone is always sweeping the sand inside and hallways outside as well as washing the pool jacuzzi area twice daily. I was impressed and will definitely stay there again.

Even with a remodel going on, staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a great stay.

This hotel is a real find: updated rooms, stunning ocean views, and fantastic beach access. The renovated sitting area by the bar is a perfect spot to watch the waves crash while relaxing, and if lucky see a pod of whales! A hidden gem that allows you to experience an oceanfront stay!

Rooms are a little old, but this place rocks. At times, it was super noisy, but having the beach right outside my window was priceless. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the views were spectacular. Service was good, food was alright. We totally enjoyed our time here.

Falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the shore is unbelievable.
The beds are so comfortable.
The staff are so friendly and accommodating.
Room service was great.
Food at the restaurant was excellent.
Spent the evening at the lounge and had a great time with the bartender and fellow guests.
It was our first time there, our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. But now we have a favorite spot.

What a superb location! I had a ground floor ocean room. While you can’t quite see the water when you’re lying on your bed, if you stand up you can see the ocean.
The room was big and comfortable but it’s the ability to walk out your room, sit on the deck and look at the ocean.
There is plenty of parking and the lobby has amazing views!

Good service at the front desk. The room was an extraordinary experience watching the sunset over the ocean. Well worth every penny to me. The burger from the bar was the best burger I've ever had! I've experienced ACTUAL hotel deception and this place wasn't it.

Really enjoyed our stay here! It is so close to the beach, falling asleep with beach waves was priceless! Rooms are nice and clean, just wish they had a microwave. They also have a very nice bar and very cozy restaurant in the hotel which was great because we didn’t have to go anywhere and just relaxed. Jacuzzi and Pool are also very nice. For some reason, a sauna (I think it was a sauna) was closed, but we still loved it. They are dog friendly, and even have water and treats for your doggy. I also want to thank the person that was at the door giving us directions and opening the door all the time. He was so very nice to us, very friendly and helpful! Just a suggestion:please tell your guests that you charge for parking. We didn’t look immediately, and when we saw that additional fee on a receipt, it was a surprise. Otherwise, everything was great! Already recommended to my parents and they are coming. Would come again!

Good food and even better views! Rooms were nice, however shower did not get very hot. Went to the hotel restaurant numerous times, and had the Benedict for breakfast and chowder for dinner.
