Used them for service twice now. Don't let the charmingly antique storefront fool you, these guys are absolutely top notch. Fast, friendly, honest, knowledgeable, and fairly priced. When you need an auto mechanic, not just a technician or lube jockey, but someone who absolutely understands what they're doing, take it here.

Hands down the best mechanic I have ever been to. Not only do they fix whatever is wrong with your vehicle, but they DON'T DO ANYTHING THAT'S UNNECESSARY! They explain everything that they need to do and why....extremely trustworthy.
Another thing is that they always seem to be in a great mood...

Can’t beat an honest, family run mechanic shop. This place has always treated me right. They’ve always worked hard to diagnose any car issue and fix it without breaking the bank. They took care of my 2001 Subaru Forrester until I had to sell it since not every member of my family could drive the car (stick shift). Now my 2009 car is starting to have a few issues. I took it in the other day and asked for a knocking sound in the steering column to be fixed. I have done research independently on what the issue could be and how much it would cost to fix. Ball Auto came back with the exact same diagnosis and a better estimate than my research indicated. When I asked if there was any other maintenance my car needed, they said, “It looks good. Have a happy holiday.” I always appreciate knowing they’re not trying to charge me for services I don’t need.

I came here to sing my praise for the folks at Ball auto. The mechanics are so kind and so honest, and incredibly patient with the plethora of questions I always have when I come in. Every single time I’ve gone to them they’ve gotten the work done quick, and usually for cheaper than I was quoted. They are mechanical wizards and I am so grateful they are around. All my love to Ball auto.

I had used Ball Auto on my older Honda Accord when I lived in the area and was always pleased with their service. After buying a newer vehicle I went to the dealership thinking that was the right thing to do. Even though I live further away now, I'm back at Ball because their service is second to none. Their prices are very reasonable and they have always gone beyond what was expected. The folks at Ball are professional and super courteous. I'm left feeling that they actually value my business. They're thorough in the services they perform and provide real explanation/s. They know their stuff!

Drew is always there to help: when I needed to jump my car because I was gone for two months and forgot to disconnect my battery (they then replaced it) to checking the code for the check engine light when I just "stop by." The service is friendly and my car is in amazing shape thanks to their work (it's 12 years old!).

Had to wait 2 weeks for a diagnostics appointment, but it was worth the wait! These guys are busy for a good reason. I blew my transmission unfortunately, so I didn't have any repairs done. And they did the diagnosis for free, even without doing any repairs. EXCELLENT customer service, the guys working in there are so kind and friendly. He explained exactly what went wrong with my transmission and explained in a way that I could understand. I 100% recommend this shop!

These guys are fantastic! Very reasonable prices, superb diagnostic and mechanical skills. They will even work on my camper van despite very limited shop space for it. Many local repair shops refuse to work on it. I'm a customer for life for sure and I highly recommend them!

My car required front brakes and rotor change. Not only were the mechanics friendly and knowledgeable, but they quoted me at a very fair price compared to other establishments! Just moved to the area, and I will definitely be using this place moving forward!

I have always struggled finding a good mechanic as I'm sure most people do at some point in their lives. Ball auto has been the first and only mechanic I've found with seriously great customer service, trustworthiness, and turn around times. I'm happy to say I've found a mechanic that I'll bring my car to for any future maintenance/repairs. I hardly ever write reviews but I felt that this review was definitely well deserved. This is the best old fashioned gas station / service station you will find. It is family owned and run and it feels like they actually care about every customer. I would definitely come here for all of my needs in fact I already do.

This place is awesome.10 out of 5 stars! I got a flat tire around Wright Park and had 1 pesky nut that would not loosen. Derek loaned me a tool that worked like a charm and had my tire ready to go in 30 minutes. The whole experience honestly restored my faith in humanity. Thank you Derek/Ball Auto Sales & Service!

Can I give this business 6 stars? I have been exclusively going to ball auto for the past 3 years for everything. Everyone is super friendly, professional and even recognize me by voice!

My last visit, I took my car in for a full tune up (oil, transmission fluid flush, brakes, etc). Expecting to pay well over $1000, they called me and said "All you needed was an oil change. All other fluids are good for a while! You might want a new battery".

They could have charged me for the full service, but decided not to since I didn't need it. Honesty is keeping me as a customer for as long as I am alive.

They've helped me in the past by giving me a free quart of oil when I needed it, helped me for free with a stripped screw in my license plate....

If you need a mechanic in Tacoma, please give them your business.

They have non ethanol gasoline, great for my two stroke engines!

No place to wait is not a problem. There are plenty of cafes in very short walking distance. On a fine day just walk in the Wright Park.
