A-1 Hour Photo & Studio is excellent! I've had my passport photos taken here, and have also gotten photos and digital art printed.

You can walk in to get your passport photo taken and printed, and the whole process takes less than 5 minutes. The photo quality is great and much better than what you'd get at USPS or Walgreens/CVS.

In addition, I was also able to get some digital art printed onto photo paper here. The process was very easy -- I just emailed the files and it was printed within an hour. I actually made a mistake in exporting the file format, and the owners were very friendly and patient in helping me fix the issue and re-print. The prints were high-quality and looked great.

Highly recommend A-1 Hour Photo if you need passport photos or photo prints!

Best place to get pictures taken for any Canadian application (visa, passport, citizenship, etc). We have done several pictures with them, they already know the right specifications for Canada, and the pictures we submit never get rejected.

Excellent studio! Needed a professional headshot and Rachel was fantastic at fitting me in and helping me choose the right pose for for a final version. Very easy process and I definitely recommend her services—be aware the location will be moving nearby in a few weeks.

We went here for professional shots for applications, LinkedIn, and work. I was originally dreading it but going here made me really enjoy it and I am considering, making it a yearly thing. This is very professional photography and we were treated very kindly and patiently. The results exceeded expectations for a very reasonable price. In fact, I ended up buying more photos than I planned for.

Went here to get my US passport photo. I liked the photo so much I came back to do a professional portrait photo for my LinkedIn. Excellent service at a good rate. Passport photo took about 15 min total and I was emailed a high-res digital copy of my portrait on the same day.

I had such wonderful experience having my passport photo taken at A-1 Hour Photo & Studio. And it only cost $15.34(tax included) for two photos. Furthermore, what made me most happy was that the photos came out so beautiful and impressive. Rachel, the photographer, was so skillful and patient that even was able to accommodate me with my Parkinson like neck tremors in less than 5 minutes with very comforting smile and comments. While waiting for the prints to come out, I also saw quite a few beautiful photos displays on the walls, which also include some heart warming wedding and family portraits. I am very grateful for both Rachel and her husband's hospitalities and professionalism. I certainly will return to them and wanted to share such good news with you all.

Honestly, they took the BEST quality passport photo I have ever seen of myself!!! Plus customer service was friendly & down to earth but also efficient: the overall process took ~ 10-15 min; Rachel was super lovely, fast, & kindly let me choose the best out of 3-4 shots, before checking the dimensions met the passport requirements. But what I feel sets A1 Studio apart from other passport photo places & what contributed to the best quality passport photo I’ve gotten in my life so far is they’re professional portrait photographers. They have several flash camera lights set up with silver cloth/reflective umbrellas for the lights to bounce off of to ensure the most even & well lit lightening for your photos. And wow, it makes a HUGE difference what professional portrait camera lightening can do vs just room light or even a camera ring light on a tripod. Also, I think they used a DSLR with high resolution. Last but not least, their prices beat all the other passport photo centers I considered. It was around $ 15 something w/ tax (vs other places charge $17-19 ish). Hands down, I would go here again if I ever needed a new passport photo.

Had a great experience getting my passport photos taken by Tom. He took the time to help me fix myself up and made sure I was happy with the takes. I was in and out within 20 minutes. The studio is nice with lots of props laying about. Definitely will come back the next time I need any head shots

Small, cozy photo shop in the front but they have a setup in the back. Quick and easy service, the photos for my passport renewal came out pretty quick. The dog was very adorable 🥰

I had about a dozen photos printed here last year to frame and give as gifts. I thought they came out beautifully, and I especially appreciated the time and care the store owner spent with me as we sized the photos and printed test versions. She took her time and in the end I left with great photos. Fast forward to this year, I'm in a different city and looking high and low for a shop with equivalent work and cannot find one! I'm going to have to drive back to San Mateo to work with A-1 again, if I'm lucky and they're still open. I seriously didn't know how good I had it until I tried to find its equal! Thank you for your great work, your patience, and your attention to detail, A-1!

The staff here are so nice and helpful! I had no idea what sizes were standard and they helped me figure out what I needed. The service was pretty quick too! Definitely coming back here to get more printed in the future.
