We went to the area with the intent of going to a specific restaurant but that place happened to be closed at the time so we started looking for an alternative. It was serendipitous that we ended up at Noodles and Things.

Service was very efficient. Once you are seated, water is provided. From the QR code on your table, you can choose your food from the menu and order directly even without the assistance of your waiter/waitress. For the quality of food served, it was a surprise they prepared it so quickly.

Food was amazingly delicious. Their soup had so much meat and portions are huge we ended up asking for take out boxes. The soup is rich, flavorful and divine. The meat is so tender and luscious, the veggies are tasty and fresh.

The four of us each ordered different kinds of soup with one appetizer and our total was just below a $100 including tip.

Highly recommended if you're craving for Asian soup. Five stars all the way!!

The Chicken soup comes with a side of their Hainan chicken and ginger sauce. The chicken is nice and tender but a bit salty

I like their Housemade special. The broth is fragrant, and it comes with a mix of the different meatballs and fishballs they make. I like the shrimp ones the best.

I highly recommend to try their fish noodles. The texture of the noodles was so good, but I'm not sure if it was bcuz I haven't had fish noodles elsewhere.

I passed this place while in downtown San Mateo and saw that a whole chicken was $30. A pretty good deal! I decided to go here a few weeks later. We came at 8pm on Tuesday and there were a few people eating. It was really spacious inside, with high ceilings and spread out tables. You mark what you want with the expo markers on the menu.

We ordered the meat ball combo with egg noodles, a custom egg noodle with napa cabbage and corn, choy sum in broth, half duck and half chicken. The chicken and duck were amazing. There was almost no fat and really lean. There weren’t too many bones either. The choy sum was also really good. The noodles were a little overcooked, but still really flavorful. I really liked the shrimp balls that came with the combo. We really liked that the broth was chicken, so it was healthier than usual beef broth.

We were really really impressed with the duck and chicken. While the noodles were overcooked, we still thought the food was really good. Everything was really tasty and we definitely would come back.

This place is unique you sit down at a booth and scan the menu on your phone, you order from your phone and the server will bring you your food and bill at the end.

I customized my own soup. Got the spicy soup base with sliced beef & udon noodles. SO DELICIOUS! My friend got the original soup base with chicken and that was very flavorful and tasty as well.

The round rice noodles are great! Both is tasty. Nice bright place. Feels spacious. The fish balls and octopus balls are yummy too!

They are my favorite comfort noodle option in San Mateo. The chicken + noodle combo is my favorite. The portion is big. Service is fast. Every time I go I get seated immediately. I don't know why they are not busier. I love this place.

A Chinese take on the popular build your own ramen places! There are pre-built options which tend to be better deals as well as build your own options. Use a marker to mark on the menu itself what you want, pick your own noodle or even do a rice. The broth is intense, it's cooked for 20 hours! There are side dishes such as their steamed yellow chicken and the stewed duck tend to be the popular ones. Wasn't super thirsty afterwards which is often a worry of mine when you drink all that soup!

Slept on!! Enormous portions, quality ingredients, very fast and efficient service. Get out of line for Gao and check this place out.

My absolute favorite noodle place. Food is delicious and comes out quick. I find myself coming at least once a week. Keep up the good work!

Cantonese style build your own noodle place. Great portions and quality

Real real homemade healthy chicken broth (not oily like almost most soup got noodles is). Fish balls, shrimp balls and beef tendon balls are all handmade, homemade, packed with good stuff, very fresh - not what you can buy from store. Beef tendons are big, fresh, very good and they give you a lot (no other noodle restaurant of any style in the Peninsula gives you that much tendon in one dish). Noodles are fresh and not soggy. Lots of fresh veggies. This is a great noodles place. It’s not a fancy place or fancy foodie food, but for its category and its food quality, I’d give it a 6 stars if I can. 真材實料.

Worth the price, high quality ingredients, but there is not enough meat and flavor, make sure you add two portions of meat. I give it 5 star for san Mateo.

I took my parents here because I loved it so much and it reminded them of specific chaozhou cuisine they haven’t found elsewhere in the states. Their faces lit up when they tried fish noodles and chicken, which were prepared exactly the way it was when they were growing up.

The bone broth is on point, the portions are huge, and it wasn’t too salty.

Pretty light and umami taste if that’s what you’re looking for. The fish noodle is quite interesting!
