Merlion Restaurant & Bar

We tried the laksa and the chicken rice, both were great. The laksa was more authentic than the chicken rice but both were very tasty. The chicken in the chicken rice was superbly juicy.

Excellent and authentic Singapore food! The food is extremely fresh and delicious and served family style. When our family goes out to eat it normally costs over $200 by the time we're done. When we eat at Merlion it's almost always barely $100 and we have food to take home! We love the muscles (also a Happy Hour item) with a fabulously delicious broth that can also be poured over the rice (we don't waste a drop) and the addicting lettuce fish dish that had the delicious crispy oats topping (can't remember what it's called) but it's perfect every time. I don't know if people realize what a great bar they have. Drink prices are great during happy hour, as well as the happy hour menu that is very filling. We try to go early when it's quiet - and love that the chef cooking station is open for the public to watch them work their magic. We've also had large gatherings there and they are extremely accommodating as well as unbelievably well priced for such events. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

This is my favorite Singaporean or Malaysian place in South Bay so far. We've also been to Layang Layang, Banana Leaf, and Shiok, but Merlion is the best! Here's why:

1. price. They charge lower prices for the same dishes. $3.50 for roti paratha instead of $7 like other places. Same goes for bigger dishes--they simply don't gouge you here like they do elsewhere.
2. service. This is the best quality service I've gotten in a restaurant at this price point. Upscale casual setting and A+ service is not what you typically get in Southeast Asian restaurants, but it's what you get at Merlion!
3. Flavor! The food is really good. My Hainanese chicken rice was a smash hit. So was the cendol, roti, and other stuff. The laksa was just so-so, but overall great taste.

We came for lunch on a weekend to Merlion. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. They have a beautiful decor in the restaurant and it is spacious and well maintained. Food was excellent and generous The young waitress was a bit inexperienced but OK. Bathroom was clean. We will come back.

Excellent Singaporean Food! They have an extensive variety of traditional Singaporean food from hand-tossed Roti Prata, Hainan Chicken Rice, Char Kway Teow, and Seafood Laksa as well as more fusion Singaporean cuisine. All extremely delicious!

Prices are great.The service is all very friendly and efficient. Definitely will be back for more!

Large portions, good prices and authentic flavors.

It's easy to find Asian food in the Bay Area. Singapore/Malaysia food is a relative minority among other Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese or Indian restaurants. Merlion stands out by not only provides great food but creates the ambience more like a casual Italian/American restaurant by having a full bar and darker light. Their service is much better than most Chinese restaurants with the same price range (but the environment may not be as pleasant) and the bartender Janice is very friendly.

Absolutely delicious food! Fresh protein and produce, amazing seasoning with a pinch of spice and moderate fat.

Fantastic Singaporean restaurant in the South Bay! Everything we ordered was excellent: oxtail soup, mee krob, kway teow. The roti, sauteed okra and vegetables in taro nest were especially tasty. The Hainan chicken was tender and well-seasoned. The only disappointment was the Hainan chicken rice (you order the rice separately) - it wasn't anything special. The chendo was okay - more savory than sweet. I went with a group of 8 and service was efficiently and very friendly. We will definitely go back!

Really good vegetarian options with varying spice levels. We did try the appetizer sampler, it looks good but I think it can be skipped. If you like Roti praya and chicken, the you should try the Murtabak though

Took my family here around the afternoon on a Sunday, it was just us. We received a good service maybe cause it was just us. So far food was good and the service. Most likely I will come back and try other dish.

No trip to the Bay Area is complete without a trip to Merlion! The food and service here is consistently incredible. It's my family's favorite restaurant and definitely one of the best dining options in Cupertino.

My favorite place to eat in Cupertino California I come here with friends and clients and I always get the same thing and I help my friends order and they love it!!! The food is so yummy and they are very accommodating. I wish I had some of their food right now.

Went there today for the first time, in a group of 6. Got a bunch of stuff: appetizer set (satay, prata), belachan kang kong, crispy fish with lettuce wrap (cereal fish), tom yum soup, black pepper chicken, black pepper beef, veggie noodle, nasi lemak, fried banana (goreng pisang), pulut hitam.

Delicious food and fast service... both lunch and dinners! Chef-prepared food without the chef prices. Merlion's friendly Mixologist can create any signature cocktail or martini that you choose. Best Happy Hour prices in Cupertino. Easy to find with the white Merlion statue in front, with easy lighted-intersection entrance and lots of parking. It is the best restaurant and bar by far in Cupertino California! A MUST visit... and I guarantee you will be back!

Very flavorful fresh food. The roti is fantastic! Strangely not too crowded but a gem food-wise.
