Merit Vegan Restaurant

In my humble opinion, this is the best Vegan restaurant I know in the Bay area. Most of the food I have tried here has impressed me.

Service and the waitress were super sweet. One of my friends ordered something called "Ocean of Love". Well it was something new and we had no idea how to eat it. One of the waitresses explained to him that 🤣 and also advised not the order this for a single person.

I personally tried chowmein and I loved it. Also tried fried rice and it was good too. For appetizers both Jalapeno pop and spring roll were delicious.

We started with the Thai Iced Tea (not overly sweet) and Vietnamese Iced Coffee (strong coffee flavour) both very good. Then for the appetizers we tried the veggie fresh spring rolls - dipping sauce was so good. We also tried the jalapeño poppers, and they were not spicy at all and super flavorful. For the entrees - we tried the Thai fried rice and SP-15, which made for an excellent combination. Though it’s a purely vegan restaurant, we didn’t miss meat at all and would definitely try this restaurant again.

Excellent Vegan food!! We had a great time catching up and trying new dishes. One of my favorite dishes (not shown as I took it to go) was the tom yum soup. Absolutely amazing!!

Back after a long break. I was happy to find the same person waited our table as the last visit three years ago.
The selection is as diverse as we can expect. The food had the same taste as before. Other people on the party were also happy with their food.
I would recommend to try SP-15 on the menu.

All vegan menu. Fresh and flavorful menu. Our dishes arrived incredibly fast! We were fortunate to have arrived before it got pretty crowded. Thank you for a wonderful meal. 💛

It's definitely great to have a complete vegan/vegetarian restaurant where food is delicious. They have so many items and I got confused about what to order. We tried Jalapeno poppers which was excellent! We found the orange nuggets a bit too sweet - if you like sweet, you'll love it. We also got the pad thai which was decent. We enjoyed the appetizers more than the main course. Don't expect much service as the place gets really busy.

It's my first time to try vegan food. It's awesome and way better than I expected! I'll come back for sure

Merit Vegan has a special place in my heart :) I love the food here. I'm vegetarian, and this is one of the very few Asian restaurants where I can order food with some peace of mind without double thinking :D

Quality:
High quality food. I've tried many items here. Listing a few which I can remember off the top of my head.

- Wonton Vegetable Soup: My absolute favorite! Absolutely worth it!

- Curry Vermicelli Soup: Tastes like Maggi Noodles (has an "Indian" flavor to it, hahaha).

Fresh Spring Rolls: They do taste fresh. Wish they give more quantity on this for the price they charge.

Curry Vegetables (Entree): Really good creamy curry, has a "Thai" food kick to it, but it's not quite "Thai food" in the sense that they don't add that much coconut to it. Interesting dish.

Sweet and Sour Savory: If you like pineapple in curries, you'll love this dish!

Quantity:
Decent quantity for the price they charge. Could offer a little more though.

Ambience:
The restaurant always offers very good ambience.

Service:
Service overall is great. But...
Some staff don't speak English that well. Communication can be a problem sometimes, and sometimes their responses can feel rude because of the communication gap. This totally depends on who you get as your server though. Some of the staff speak good english though.

One feedback to management: Please consider opening the restaurant at least until 9 pm.

This is our favorite Asian restaurant. The food is awesome & their service is outstanding. You seriously cannot go wrong with anything you order here. We love their noodle soups, stir fried noodles & appetizers. Their hot pho is great on cold nights. We always order takeout & they send the food neatly packed.

wow! This place is incredible. Was not sure what to expect with the location because we just stumbled upon it but the menu was diverse, the food came out very quickly and tasted wonderful. I can’t believe everything is vegan! The team here is extremely friendly and accommodating. The jalapeño poppers are exceptional - they are great at fried breaded items.

Highly HIGHLY recommend coming here to eat.

We went here for dinner. The place was bustling with people but the service was still very fast. They have an interesting menu with so many Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese mix options all vegan. There desserts are super awesome too. We loved their spring roles, jalapeño poppers and spicy noodle soup. Had our first Tiramisu vegan cake here. Highly recommend for vegans

After reading a bunch of great reviews, we were excited to be here.The atmosphere seemed relaxing, well lit and spacious. We kind of knew what we were going to order from reading other local guides' recommendations.

We had Papaya Salad, Jalapeno Pops to begin with. The salad's quantity was more than we expected, but nevertheless tasted great(we had to pack a bit). Jalapeno pops was hot and fresh, loved the bean curd filling served along with spicy ranch.

For the mains, we had Thai Fried rice, one of the best to be honest. Mainly coz of the burnt flavor it had and the spice level served was standard. They won't make it spicier as per your request. However, they do have the red chilli flake sauce on the table to add according to one's needs.

Would have loved their freshly squeezed orange juice to be cold or served with rice, but was refreshing anyways. We will be visiting again to try out other favorites.

If vegetarian food was always this tasty it would be easy for me to be a vegetarian.

Lots of parking. Tasty and consistent foods. If you order to-go, you can let the waiter/waitress know and they will get your order for you at the door.

I'd reccommend the "Spicy Tango" if it's your first time. It works well with any side and is generously seasoned.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in the bay area. Their Thai basil fried rice is incredibly delicious. They have some amazing appetizers to offer. My personal favorite is Pot sticker. Also Vietnamese Iced coffee and chocolate hazelnut cake is a must try. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

Hands down the best vegan restaurant I've ever been to. Wonderful, service, the host is very modest and humble. The food is delicious. What else would you need? If anyone claims vegan food cannot be not tasty, bring them here. It is easy to stay vegan if vegan restaurants are this good.

Best 100 % Vegan Restaurant in The bayarea, the food always has the same quality and delicious taste, Services Is Excellent Plus very welcoming and clean. this Vegan restaurant is a must to bring family that are not vegan guaranteed they will love the food. Note: don't forget the Desert ;-)

A very good experience!

The food: excellent! Quite different tasting from what I have had at other restaurants. I had the Thai fried rice and Sauteed Jalapeno Tofu. They said it was spicy, but the typical Thai spiciness was missing. The next time I would ask them for 'very spicy', and hopefully it will be sufficiently spicy.

Ambience: Fantastic!! Well lit and nice.

Quickness: they served the food surprisingly quickly, within 5 mins of ordering. (And about half the restaurant was occupied.)

Service: Our waiter had difficulty understanding English and we struggled a bit to get some clarifications. But otherwise, they were very nice and pleasant!!

I am looking forward to going back and trying out more options!

I 100% support this restaurant!! They are all-vegan and ask people to go vegan to save the planet on their website!! The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and their menu is stacked! We ordered the Tom Kha Thai soup (which came out in this really cool flaming pot-dish at our table), Mama's Clay Pot, and the Thai Iced Tea. We're about to order the chocolate hazlenut cake to-go because we're so full, and I'm sure it will be delicious! They also have the 'Go Max Go' vegan candy bars (the vegan version of Twix, Snickers, etc.) at the register and we got two of them even though they're $3 each because they were out of them at the Country Sun grocery store earlier today.

Also, my boyfriend really loves this restaurant because they don't serve alcohol 🙂.

I ordered online through another app. And wow! Just wow! Everything was so good! The spicy tango was delicious and a bit crispy which was nice. Kind of reminded me of popcorn chicken. The Thai fried rice was scrumptious! Well flavored and a good portion too. Everything was a nice large portion - great for leftovers!

And the cake. The cake. So. Good. Can't believe it's vegan, it was so delicious. First time ordering from here, and I highly recommend all the dishes I got. I will *definitely* be back!

Merit Vegan is known as one of the best vegan restaurants in the bay and I can concur! Amazing variety of food (mostly Asian) and all vegan. I got a Thai fried rice and thai iced tea along with jalapeño poppers to share while my friend got the wonton soup. So good. The Thai fried rice was delicious and so much that I had to take some home. Definitely recommend the Thai iced tea especially on a hot summer day. Jalapeño poppers were at just the right amount of spice and delectable. I've also gotten the crispy chow mein and it's not only flavorful but the portion size is quite generous! Super quick and friendly service too. It took 5 minutes from ordering to get all of our food. The prices are reasonable and justified for the quantity and quality of food. Come by and support this great place!
