California Coffee Republic

Ok so I am pretty new to the Thousand Oaks area and have been on a hunt to find a great coffee shop. I’ve made a list and have tried a good amount of local shops but to be honest haven’t been too impressed compared to trying coffee in the deep of LA. I was craving a smooth expresso for some reason this Saturday night and decided to continue my search and figured I’d give California Coffee a try. It was a little hard to find because it’s tucked away in a cute little alley next to brewery’s and beautiful lights. I tried my classic iced vanilla latte and my barista who I didn’t get his name (had a pretty impressive beard) asked me how I liked my coffee which I have never been asked before. This coffee was elite, super smooth, and velvety. I LOVED IT. I will definitely be coming back and thank you to the kind bearded barista that made me such a great latte. Definitely come here if you are a coffee snob like me and looking for amazing expresso, a cute atmosphere, and superior service. :)

The only place in Moorpark where you can get actually good espresso! (Sorry Carrara's).

I'm someone who is really particular about coffee and find most coffee shops to make pretty mediocre coffee, but this place really knows what they are doing. I'd highly recommend trying the cortado.

While I was out visiting my hometown, decided to give California Coffee Republic a try. WOW, this was hands down the best latte I have ever had! If you love coffee, this is definitely a must visit. Staff was super friendly. It is just down the street from Starbucks, so don't waste your time and visit CCR!

I was in the area passing through for a week and found this little gem in the strangest of locations. Glad I did. Amazing people and incredible coffee. Was really impressed with their roast and coffee. If you’re into top level coffee roasting and you like quality coffee then this is your spot if you’re in the area.

Finally got to visit here! And it was worth it. It is across from one of our favorite microbreweries, Enegren, and they offer an AWESOME assortment of dishes to compliment the beers (sausage, German pretzels, pizza, and chicken tenders) - because the brewery doesn't serve food. But more deserving of praise is their devotion to quality coffee. The manager, Will, knows his trade and enjoys conversations about the origins, character, and quality of their various beans. He is also happy to host seminars/tastings for small groups, anniversary partues, or company outings.Lily, a barista, served us wonderfully balanced honey lavender matcha, rose latte, and an Americano (freshly ground to order).

Good coffee and a delicious scone. I’m glad restaurant week got me to try them. Bought some beans to grind at home and will come back to them, since I like supporting local businesses as opposed to national chains.

First time here! Awesome experience great coffee, great scones (try the blueberry lemon), great vibes ! Owners were so kind. I stayed for at least 4 hours working from my laptop
on the patio! I can’t wait to come back and try the food during lunch 😊.

It’s the little things… this is one of the only places now where they serve your cappuccino in a ceramic mug, on a saucer. I’m sitting in the morning sunshine and life is good.

Best coffee ever! If you want flavorful coffee, get CCR! They also have the best scones on the planet! No joke!!

Great place to grab a cup of specialty roasted coffee. I have had their beans delivered to my house before, but it is exciting to see they have a shop to serve fresh coffee. If you are not on the go then pick a table in the alley to hangout. At the same CCR stop you can pickup some food like burgers, fries, sausages, and pizza. Looking for a nice sizable snack, try the Bavarian pretzel. The staff is friendly and the sitting area is family friendly.

Cannot say enough about this place. A true third-wave joint. I got into home espresso not too long ago and have tried beans from all over the country, but I continue to come back to this place for their espresso blend. Exceptionally sweet, perfectly balanced, just amazing. And the scones are fire.

If I were forced to make one critique, it would be to better train the younger kids who work there in making espresso. When I have shots the owner makes, they’re perfect, but shots from the kids are usually a bit under extracted and sour. It doesn’t bother me, because obviously the owner is gonna be more passionate and put the necessary work in than the kids who just need a job, but I have no other critiques to offer.

I received a bag as a gift and was amazed at the difference in taste from big coffee chains.. not bitter, rich and flavorful. Such a delicious way to start the morning and is delicious iced as well. I’m already planning on gifting bags for birthdays and upcoming holidays!!

Really nice family owned coffee shop with some great scones. The owner/roaster/barista took the time to walk me through their tasty offerings! Stop by and give their tasty brew and bakes a try!

Hands down the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had! California Coffee Republic really knows their coffee! The flavor profiles they develop are so complex, you never get sick of drinking this stuff because you hone in on a different note with every cup. My wife loves their decaf too! Not to mention the family that runs CCR are some of the most amazing, hardest working people I know! Support local and buy California Coffee Republic!

Best coffee around. You won’t be disappointed. Love their nitro brew for an afternoon pick me up.
