Small grocery with nice imported Japanese high quality stuff. But prices are very high. Wagyu A5 sirloin here is $156 per pound. There are plenty of imported fish and household cooking items here. The store is nicely stocked. I wanted to order the Wagyu bento but unfortunately it is for lunch only until 2pm. Sushi counter starts at 5:30pm to 9pm Tuesday to Saturday. It is BYOB so that is great. It appears the owner is also the chef. I would love to support this mom and pop shop but I am unsure about the super high prices here.

I've been coming here for a while now. It used to be to pick up some groceries and a bentos for lunch. Great quality seafood, produce, and mainly to grab some "hard to find" Japan produce. When they opened the Izakaya, i had paid them a visit with my old boss. Great food! The sashimi platter, wagyu steak, chirashi bowl. Delicious! Keep in mind it is BYOB, they do provide water and hot tea. So far i have eaten at the izakaya twice and i love it. Delicious food, great service, and a relaxing casual atmosphere. It almost feels like im at home. Parking is never an issue. If you wanna have a great meal in a comfortable environment pay them a visit.

I got their frozen natto and its amaaaazing! Best Ive ever had! Also such a great supply of different snacks!

J shop restaurant/izakaya was really great service was wonderful presentation was beautiful ambience was different. It's all about the food and that's fine for me the great service is a bonus. Byob double bonus

Great place to shop for food items found mainly in Japan: wagyu beef, fish, snacks, drinks, condiments and more. Excellent bentos too. Sushi bar now open from 5:30pm!

* UNI, recently I splurged and picked up a tray of uni. When I brought the tray up the counter they swapped it out for a better looking tray. It was so fresh, it felt like it melted in my mouth! Plus there was so much that I had leftover for dinner. You can find this plus sushi, chirashi bowls, and other seafood in the refrigerated section.
* WAGYU PLATE, the meat is very tender, plus it's nicely marinated so it's very juicy. There is also several sides like oden, fried tofu and other tasty things making this plate well worth the price. The kitchen is to the right when you enter the store, this is where you place your order. After you place your order you can pay at the cashier (to the left as you enter the store) when the cooks bring it to the front.
* SODA, this is my only gripe and it's because they don't sell soda.

Have not had an problems finding parking.

J-Shop is a small hidden gem in the McCully Ala Moana neighborhood area. I was overjoyed when I first discovered the shop and have returned many times afterward. I am continuously impressed by the selection and quality of their food. They offer the highest quality sashimi, toro, local caught ahi tuna, hamachi, and Wagyu beef around. Everything is always so fresh and delicious. They also have other Japanese treats, rice, noodles, seaweed, snacks, teas, condiments and some home supplies. This is definitely worth a stop especially for quick, high-quality grab and go sushi or sashimi. They also have a restaurant attached, that I haven’t tried yet, but I’m willing to bet it’s amazing. Check out J-shop next time you’re in the neighborhood. They have plenty of parking out front, and you will not be disappointed that you went!

Great selection of bento and sozai to bring home. They usually have nama wasabi and fresh A5 Wagyu beef that they can cut for you. I also like that the stock many exclusive Japaneae products that are difficult to find even in Hawaii. Always friendly staff and pretty reasonable prices.

Fresh Japan seafoods are flown in directly. Only place selling wagyu in Honolulu. Hot bento's are made 10am~2pm. Fresh tuna and variety of other traditional sashimi's.

A medium sized shop, very well organized, and very clean. If I had to pick one thing, it's the made to order bento.
