The Steel Yard

Cool store with huge selection of smaller scale steel products as well as displays with cuts from their larger products in the on-site warehouse. Easy for a novice to navigate. I've bought small amounts of various things like plate, tubing, angle iron, etc. For trailers or whatever I'm working on and they've always been really helpful. They have what no one else does locally at a comparable or better cost.

This place is great! Tim is extremely knowledgeable and helped us with all our needs. And the price was incredible! The guys making our cuts in the back were very efficient and friendly as well. Appreciate the excellent customer service. The show room is very helpful too and so organized. Our experience from beginning to end was top notch.

I went to this place the other day just for a few pieces of scrap metal to mess around with before I build my gate. The guy behind the desk was nice. I was impressed how much materials they stock now days. The price was fair.
I will be purchasing my steel from them.

I was running around St. George looking for a specific piece and sure enough it was here. Forgot the name of the man who helped me up front but he was knowledgeable & had great customer service. Best part was pricing, I was shocked at how low the price for my part was. Anyways, great place and I highly recommend you check it out 🤙🏾

I've been a customer of the steel yard for many years, they've been in three different locations since I found them. Always helpful and good selection of new stock and some scrap steel (sold by pound) which works out for my projects sometimes. A great place to get all things steel.

Family run company, alway knowledgeable and helpful. They take pride in the art work they create and very reasonable for what your getting. Great selection on pre fabbed items that you can go into the showroom and walk out with.

I was unsure of the exact steel I needed, but Scott spent the time to help me understand the differences for my project and get the product I needed!

I am not sure how anyone is giving Steelyard high marks for price. I am building a gate and short section of fence. I called for quotes at Steelyard as well as California Steel (Las Vegas) and Wasatch Steel (SLC). Steelyard was MORE THAN DOUBLE vs the others. I saved ~$1500 by driving to Las Vegas. St George would benefit greatly if Steelyard had some competition. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because Steelyard does have a large selection and is convenient, but their pricing is outrageous. I would recommend only using them for small quantities.

To get to the point of why I don’t recommend The Steel Yard is that they are (3X) three times the market retail rate. For example 1x1x .065 at the “Yard” is $101.20 for 20’. That’s an insane price. Their competition sells it for $33.00. When I confronted them they had nothing to say. Don’t fall for the scam! By the way this was with my company “discount”. Two star review due to convenience.

This place is the worst. Man at the front desk claimed to be the owner, but not sure if he is or not, lied straight to my face. Can’t believe he is still in business if he is in fact the owner, but he needs to consider doing something else. Stay clear of this place if you value your dollar and don’t appreciate being disrespected.

I bought 120” of 1” round tube for $48. The actual tube was 1.06” and they wouldn’t give me my money back because he said it was “within tolerance.” I shouldn’t have to tell a steel yard that a 1/16 of an inch makes a huge difference.

I feel like I have tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt. I have called many times for simple questions about product only to be met with the "any question is a dumb question" attitude. No issues with any purchases or product but the customer service is extremely poor. I would rather shop for stuff with a company that appreciates your business and is ready to help. The potential to be a 5 star experience is there with just a basic understanding of customer service importance. And that's if I get a hold of them over the phone.

Warning! I went into the steel yard to buy some steel tubing. They sold it to me and charged me $151.84. Then when I went to the back to pick it up they didn’t have it. Tim said he issued a Credit to me. It’s now 12 days later and I never received my money back. I have gone into the store to ask about it and on my first visit was told their machine doesn’t work for credits and I would need to get a check and they would call me. They never called! I went back today and was told I am out of luck. Too bad! What? They charged me $151.84 for something they didn’t eve have in stock and now refuse to refund my money 12 days later! NEVER buy here! I would give them -5 stars if I could.

Update. Employers response is inaccurate. My bank has verified the refund was never sent. They have not called me to discuss and when I try to call Tim I get stuck in his phone system that will rarely connect my call and when it does he never answers!
