The park itself is really just a parking lot, public restrooms and three tables, but it’s a great pathway to the trail that leads to the tunnel. An easy 2 miles walk to the tunnel (and 2 miles back) on a well maintained road close to the river and to the train rail. 4 (pretty loud) trains passed by during my two hours on the trail. An easy walk filled with interesting facts and comfortable benches. The tunnel itself is wide and relatively short (.2 miles or so)

If u want a very peaceful brisk flat and wide walk then come here. Especially now that it's fall, the colorful leaves make the path even more beautiful. Great thing is not a lot of people walk here so if u come especially in the morning it will be just you. It's two miles walk to get to the tunnel and if u fancy a longer walk then proceed to the path of the flood which is 5 miles. Parking is free but limited so the earlier u come, the better the chance u'll find a spot. Recommend definitely 😊

Easy 4 mile walk (2 miles in and out). The trail is well maintained. Keep an eye out for critters. We saw a pretty chill black snake. It had no interest in us. The tunnel is amazing.

Great historical park. First railroad tunnel ever dug by hand in the United States. Great hike of 2.5 miles to the tunnel. Picnic tables and restrooms are also provided. The hike is through the Laural Highlands. Great scenery. I suggest checking this historical land mark out.

Great little quiet park. We seen a good bit of wildlife. The trail is pretty flat so taking the kids was great. I will suggest a flashlight for the tunnel part. The kids got kinda scared in there in the dark. Found some really cool carving on the tunnel. Some as old as 1805. We will definitely be visiting again.

A great place to walk because it's well kept and flat. We go here a lot! The train tracks are close by on the side, down a hill. The tunnel itself is really neat to walk through too. Highly suggest this place!

The Staple Bend Tunnel is always fun to visit. It has an interesting history and it's a great bike ride for young children, only two miles from the Mineral Point trail head.

Great addition to our Allegheny Portage Railroad roadtrip. A beautiful walk, 6 separate trains passed on our way to from the tunnel. Definitely wear appropriate shoes. Wish there was more at the park entrance. There was only a few signs regarding the tunnel and a porta potty.

This was a fun family walk. It's a two mile walk on a very well maintained gravel trail to a cool tunnel. Great parking and we are so glad we visited this national park!

Easy 2 mile trail to the tunnel. The awesome thing is in the summer it's much cooler in the tunnel and helps you cool off. If you keep going after the tunnel it becomes the path of the flood trail n gets more challenging but i guess that's for a different review.

It is a great trail what you can hike or ride bikes. There is plenty of benches along the way. There is mile marker so you know where you're at. It is also well maintained.

A great day hike or short bike ride. There’s a gorge not far off the trail on the Johnstown side with an old trestle you can walk over.

Interesting historic park. Great, easy 4 mile walk to the tunnel, through it and back! Wooded, crushed stone, level path. Nice little picnic area with rustic bathroom.

What a great place! It's full of history and well documented. If you go beyond the tunnel by bicycle, the trail change as does the terrain for bicycling. It's our favorite place to ride! The tunnel is a great cool down, too!

Nice level area for walk. Little under 2 miles to the tunnel. Good place to bike also. Trail kept clear of any fallen trees. Also amazing how the tunnel was built and it still solid today.
